The Hero
"Uh... hmm."
I flinched at the title of the post.
I didn't even need to open it to know what it was about. One look and you could tell — something like HYPE's Jimin saves children today~, that kind of thing.
It was already on the news? Wasn't that a little fast?
...Then again, it had happened today, so of course it would air today. And it was more than newsworthy enough.
An ultra S-tier idol uses her wits and saves a couple of kids? If I were a news director, I would have ordered it out as breaking news myself.
Anyway. I couldn't just sit here doing nothing.
"Huh~? What's this? What's our Jimin done now?"
I said it as innocently as I possibly could.
Let me be clear. I was absolutely not clicking in to worship myself.
If I ignored it — if I just sat there — people would start saying, I thought you were a Jimin fan, and you're filtering this?
I really had no choice. Yes. Force majeure. I was only going in to check. That was all.
"Ahem ahem... let's have a look, shall we."
Click.
"Ji~~~~min."
I stretched it out in my Bocchi voice.
"This isn't an article. This is actual news...?"
Last time, with the ambassadorship, they'd just grabbed screenshots of articles. This time it was a video. National broadcast news, no less.
I hit play, and the news anchor noona's voice spilled out of the speakers. At the same time, the report began walking through the incident — the one I was in — over CCTV footage.
With the anchor noona's closing line, the video — about two minutes long — came to an end.
"Mmhmm-hmm."
How to put it.
At the time, I'd been too frantic to feel much of anything. Watching it like this, as news, I was... kind of proud.
Damn. Did I actually do pretty well?
Was it that big a deal? I mean... it kind of was... ahem ahem.
I fought my mouth with everything I had, pinning the corners down before they could curl, and checked the chat.
Woooaahhh Jimin~ yeah, yeah.
They were losing their minds.
Add her to the national pride roster. Give her the Brave Citizen Award. On and on.
Weren't they hyping this a little too much? I had just done what anyone would have done.
The Brave Citizen Award, especially. There were so many people in this world braver than me who simply never got the spotlight. Ahem ahem.
Still, though.
It felt pretty good. Mmmmmm... heh.
"Ohtani-tier? That so? Still, I don't think our Jimin is Ronaldo-tier yet. Hee~"
I threw in a quick surprise worship session for our boy. Then I cleared my throat.
"Ahem."
Now it was my turn to react. I mean, my alias was captain of the 1st Division of the Jimin Pirates, wasn't it?
If I brushed past this with nothing but a ridiculous Ronaldo bit, people would definitely get suspicious.
Yes. It was absolutely not because I wanted to worship myself.
This was force majeure too, okay?
"Chat, isn't our Jimin just the most precious thing?"
"I know, right! I'm so proud I think I might cry... ah. I actually am. Hic."
Tears had actually gathered at the corners of my eyes.
Maybe I was just in too good a mood. It felt like I'd burned through a year's worth of dopamine in a single day.
"H-hngh, ahem ahem. I cried so much my makeup ran. Gimme a sec to fix it. Whoosh."
"Whoosh. All fixed. The cam? Come on~ if I turn that on there'll be a war, you know? Hee~. Anyway, should we look at the game-rec posts now?"
"No, I should finish what I started."
The aggro had drifted somewhere it really shouldn't have, but today's content was playing the main game. Specifically — hadn't I even made a cafe just to get recommendations for it?
Our main-game dogs were out there craning their necks, waiting for their feed. Time to bring the bowl.
Heh.
I felt like I'd grown as a person.
The old me would have seized this moment with both hands — music-show fancam mad movies, clips of me destroying the idol athletics championship, a full communal worship session.
Well. It was about time I matured a little.
I'll have you know I'm twenty-one!
"S-should we? Should we watch it one more time...?"
Well. It was a viewer request. I had to honor it, right?
People, I swear. They kept turning me into a girl who just couldn't help herself.
Sigh-us. Adult-sigh-us.
Mmhmmhmmheh.
"How many minutes in was it? Around here, maybe..."
I hit play again.
"Nooo!" (self-narration).
"Look out, kids!" (self-narration).
Not a shred of hesitation. She shot out at lightning speed and pulled the children from the brink — and then, as if that weren't enough, used her own body as a cushion and shielded them completely.
"Sheesh~"
What was I supposed to do. Even I had to admit it. That was cool as hell.
Lee Jimin, you crazy girl. Is there anything you can't do?
She can sing, she can game... haah. And now there's something else to add to that list.
"Ahem heh heh ahem."
The Jipong was overflowing today.
I couldn't not. I had to do that here, right?
Honestly, it was insanely embarrassing, but...!
"Hee~... nngh-hhhh."
The moment the words left my mouth, I buried my face in both hands. A damp warmth spread against my palms. Probably more tears, leaking out from sheer embarrassment.
S-still!
"I really can't hold it in today? Jimin legend fancam, let's gooo!"
Honestly.
"KYAAAAH~ Jimin! You're so pretty!"
Really, really.
"Next up, should we watch the ISAC mad movie? Hee~"
"Mmhmmhmmhehhh."
Today is so, so, so good....
