The Heavenly Demon's Trap
There was one more person watching all of this unfold.
Her name was Tenta Tio.
A virtual YouTuber affiliated with V-Game Girls and a succubus who had descended upon Earth from the Demon Realm.
She was still an amateur succubus and could not use magic yet.
Her setting was that she dreamed of becoming a Demon King by gathering human essence through streaming, but right now even that setting had completely slipped her mind. Tio was far too excited.
“Whoa, guys, did you see that? Did you?! What the heck was that?!”
Forgetting even her duty as a survivor to repair the generator, Tio hid in the grass and watched the standoff between Myeong-yun and the killers.
She had been running a stealth operation to avoid the killers when Myeong-yun suddenly appeared right in front of the Butcher of his own accord.
The Butcher swung his weapon at high speed to catch him, but it never reached Myeong-yun. It was as if he had predicted every single movement.
When not even the Butcher’s cleaver knife could touch him, the killer eventually used a skill, yet even the chains that suddenly changed trajectory in midair were dodged with ease. Tio’s excitement reached its peak.
“Whoa! Insane! That’s actually insane! If that had been me, I’d have turned into a worm right there! Look at him dodging all of it!!”
“Don’t say unnecessary things!”
After snapping at the viewers’ teasing, Tio turned her attention back to the standoff between the killers and Myeong-yun.
A moment later, another killer approached from afar with heavy footsteps, drew dual pistols, and opened fire on Myeong-yun.
Yet Myeong-yun simply walked forward, one step at a time, weaving between the incoming bullets until he reached the killer.
“…Waaaaaaaah—!!”
Watching that scene, Tio let out the breath she had been holding and cheered at the top of her lungs.
What Myeong-yun had just shown was simply unbelievable.
No matter how poor the Gunslinger’s revolver accuracy was, that Gunslinger’s shooting skill was not bad. Just moments ago, that same Gunslinger had taken down three survivors alone.
“Did you see that? Did you?! How the heck did he do that? It doesn’t make sense. That’s literally impossible!”
“What? That’s so moving… No, this isn’t the time for that! I should probably help him, right? Even so, going one-on-one against a killer seems like a bad idea! I’m confident in one-on-ones too, so… huh?”
Just as Tio was about to leap out of the grass to help Myeong-yun, the Gunslinger suddenly did something strange.
He holstered his pistols and bowed toward Myeong-yun. To Japanese viewers, it looked exactly like a dogeza.
“I don’t know either! Why a dogeza all of a sudden? Oh, he stood up. He’s chasing again?”
The dogeza lasted only a moment.
Now both killers began pursuing Myeong-yun in earnest, trying to snare him with their abilities.
“L-let’s chase after them!”
“The generator isn’t important right now, you generator-obsessed idiots!”
* * *
With his hands clasped behind his back, Myeong-yun deliberately lured the two killers toward him.
Since killers inherently moved faster than survivors, it seemed like they would catch him quickly, but he slipped through their grasp at the very last moment, always just out of reach.
He twisted his body sharply or used the terrain in impossibly clever ways to evade them.
To any onlooker, it looked as though he had played Dead by Daylight for over a thousand hours.
In reality, his total playtime was less than four hours.
“Why can’t we catch him?!”
“Because he is the Heavenly Demon!”
“You keep saying Heavenly Demon, but what the hell does that even mean, you damn otaku bastard!”
“Does your house not have internet? Go search it up, you ping-finger-opening-beggar!”
The two killers bickered while trying to coordinate a plan to catch Myeong-yun, splitting up to corner him.
Since their base movement speed was faster, they calculated that simply herding him would eventually lead to a capture.
However, Myeong-yun existed far beyond their imagination.
“No, sh—!”
“Pathetic.”
As if he had overheard their plan, Myeong-yun refused to play along with their herding attempt.
Instead, he forced his way through toward the side where TwoJonkuGenerator was positioned, broke through, and escaped in the opposite direction.
“He’s heading toward the theater! Gunslinger!”
“You come too, Pig! Let’s block the entrance!”
“Don’t call me Pig!”
“You are a pig!”
Even while arguing, the two killers worked surprisingly well together.
Myeong-yun glanced back at the two pursuing him.
“They follow quite well.”
Did the killers realize it?
Since Myeong-yun had no way to deal damage to them, they believed they were the ones herding the survivor.
In a normal game, killers would abandon skilled survivors and go after weaker ones, but in Overdrive mode, with the advantage of two killers, the priority was to eliminate the strongest survivor first.
Yet the reality was the complete opposite.
Myeong-yun was the one leading the two killers.
And there was still one more Stalker.
He deliberately guided them toward a dead-end alley, making them believe they held the advantage.
That was what Myeong-yun was aiming for.
The killers, unaware they were walking straight into a trap, happily chased after him.
“This lord shall exert himself so that all eight may survive.”
Myeong-yun could not understand a single word the viewers were saying.
He headed deeper and deeper into the theater, toward the innermost screen X.
Reaching the deepest hall, Myeong-yun opened the door and stepped inside.
Inside, an old black-and-white horror film was playing.
As he descended the stairs and stood before the screen, the two killers who had been chasing him burst through the door.
“You can’t run anymore! Gunslinger! Block the other entrance!”
“Got it! Pig!”
“You damn bastard!”
While bickering, they both firmly blocked the entrances.
Even if they let everyone else escape, their determination to catch Myeong-yun was clear.
“We’ll let the others go, but we’re catching you!”
“Heavenly Demon! Please forgive this disciple’s insolence! But if not for this opportunity, when else would I ever get to lay a hand on the Heavenly Demon’s body!”
“So what the hell is a Heavenly Demon supposed to mean, you crazy gunslinger bastard!”
“The Heavenly Demon is the Heavenly Demon! After the game, go search ‘Heavenly Demon’ on YouTube! Now then, Heavenly Demon! Here I come!”
“Very well. Come.”
Even though it should have been inaudible, a reply came in Myeong-yun’s voice. Sexy4Eva felt a deep sense of emotion.
Even though it should have been inaudible, had his voice reached him?
Perhaps their hearts had connected. Sexy4Eva shouted once more.
“I will follow you for the rest of my life—!!”
With that cry, Sexy4Eva drew the dual pistols from his holsters and aimed at Myeong-yun.
The moment the gun barrels pointed at Myeong-yun, TwoJonkuGenerator’s chains flew toward him.
Their plan was to restrict his movement and control his path by attacking from both range and melee simultaneously.
“Not bad for a plan made on the spot. This lord shall commend you.”
However.
The opponent was the “Heavenly Demon.”
“Yet even the Heavenly Net could not capture this lord.”
Myeong-yun took one step forward amid the flood of viewer chat.
He twisted his body to dodge the approaching chains, and bullets came flying.
This time, they were not the wild, inaccurate shots from before.
These were bullets precisely aimed at him, carrying the clear intent to kill.
“Not bad.”
Yet even those, Myeong-yun dodged by lightly leaping into the air and spinning his body.
The moment he landed, he spun again to avoid the additional bullets, and TwoJonkuGenerator came charging in with heavy footsteps.
The plan was for TwoJonkuGenerator to engage in close combat while Sexy4Eva provided support from range.
It was their Plan B, devised while rushing here.
“I will never let you escape! Die!”
“Heavenly Demon, I’m sorry!”
Since attacks between killers dealt no damage, the moment TwoJonkuGenerator swung his cleaver knife, Sexy4Eva’s guns fired without hesitation.
Myeong-yun was given two choices: dodge the blade or dodge the bullets.
His choice was……
‘Both.’
Myeong-yun’s hand, which had been clasped behind his back, shot out like lightning.
His movements, swift as a raging river, struck the cleaver knife descending toward him.
However, it was not yet a registered hit.
A hit only registered on a survivor when a solid ‘strike’ connected.
Myeong-yun’s hand struck the flat of the cleaver knife.
While he could not damage the killer, the impact was transmitted clearly.
The trajectory of TwoJonkuGenerator’s blade shifted under Myeong-yun’s hand.
The straight downward slash became a diagonal one.
Clang—!!
It deflected three or four of Sexy4Eva’s incoming bullets.
Both TwoJonkuGenerator and Sexy4Eva were stunned.
The flustered TwoJonkuGenerator swung his cleaver wildly, but Myeong-yun deflected every strike with a single hand.
TwoJonkuGenerator felt as though he were fighting a ghost.
No matter how many times he swung, nothing connected. It felt like he was fighting a phantom.
“Hey! Gunslinger! Shoot faster!”
“I’m shooting!”
Sexy4Eva’s bullets rained down again and again.
Yet every bullet was deflected by TwoJonkuGenerator’s blade, tearing the screen behind them to shreds.
Amid the fragments of the shredded screen, Myeong-yun deflected the final bullet, and TwoJonkuGenerator stumbled backward in terror.
All that remained was the projector light illuminating Myeong-yun.
Like the protagonist of a movie, Myeong-yun stood with his coat fluttering, hands clasped behind his back.
“Is that all?”
His gaze was that of a wild beast.
A starving beast that had yet to consume enough prey.
The two killers and the viewers who had glimpsed a fragment of the Heavenly Demon could only think one thing.
“Ah, shit, I think I pissed myself……”
