Playing the Savior
"Phew, fucking huge."
I arrived at Korea University Hospital and looked up at the majestic building. This was the starting point that would make me rich from now on. As I stepped out of the taxi, I could feel the stares from people around me. No wonder. With my 2-meter height, hood up, and mask on. But I ignored them and walked forward.
Inside the main entrance of Korea University Hospital. I stood right in the center of the bustling lobby full of people.
About here, maybe?
I placed my hand on the floor. Passersby glanced at me curiously as they walked past.
Location set...
Ziiing...
I'd used magic. One of the essential spells I'd gotten through the Colorful Magic Mod. Among them was Fast Travel Magic. In the original UnderDream, fast travel was possible via the map. But some users who didn't want to ruin the fantasy world setting created a mod to remove map-based fast travel. As a result, players had to adventure the fields purely by walking and running without fast travel.
But ironically, some users found it too inconvenient. That led to people saying, "Why not make fast travel limited, like with magic, to keep it fantasy-like?" And so the Fast Travel Magic Addition Mod was born. Some users bitched, "Then why remove fast travel in the first place?" But hey.
Lucky for me.
Thanks to this mod, I could fast travel just like in the game. Instant teleportation. Right now, I'd set two locations. One was my studio apartment. The other was right here in the Korea University Hospital lobby. To avoid issues with people popping out suddenly, I'd be careful about setting locations.
No more taxi rides from now on.
Anyway, with this, I could freely travel between my studio and the hospital. All preparations complete, I started walking.
"Trauma center... that way, maybe..."
To make an impact, that was the perfect spot.
Ziiing.
After arriving at the trauma center, the automatic doors slid open to reveal a chaotic scene.
"Be careful not to touch the knife!"
"Moving him! One, two, three!"
Nurses and doctors were frantically working to save a critical patient.
Whoa... they're really trying to save that guy? Doctors and nurses are amazing...
It was a scene that inspired pure respect just watching it.
"Excuse me, who are you?"
Then a nearby nurse approached me.
"Oh, I... uh..."
"Are you family? If not, sorry, but it's an emergency—could you step out for a bit?"
"......"
I looked past the nurse at the scene.
"Call cardiothoracic surgery! We'll do a thoracentesis when they arrive! And spinal needles too!!"
It definitely looked urgent. But the more urgent, the better for me.
"H-Hey?! W-Wait a second!! Stop!"
Enemy Reset Mod
The familiar chime rang out, and the nurse blocking me froze. Then she rushed off to do her job. I headed toward the most critical-looking patient.
"BP's critically low!! 40!"
I had no idea what that meant, but it sounded bad.
A knife, huh.
A knife was embedded in the patient's abdomen. Doctors and nurses surrounded him, desperately trying to save him.
"Th-Thoracentesis now!! Hand it over!!"
"Y-Yes!"
The doctor was about to jab a massive syringe into the patient when—
"This knife's in the way."
"Pardon...?"
The doctor who'd been focusing on the syringe turned to me at my mutter. But I ignored his gaze and yanked the knife out.
"Eh."
"Huh?"
Shocked gasps rippled around us. Then—
"Aaaahhh!! What the hell did you just—!!"
The doctor screamed.
"It's fine, just watch."
"Fine my ass!! Who the hell are you!! Nurse!! Get security...!!"
As the doctor yelled at the nurse—
"Huh...?"
Whoosh!
Light burst from my hand.
"Now, witness the miracle."
"......Pardon?"
I'd come to spare the doctors a little effort in performing miracles.
"Ugh... turned out great."
I chugged a cold beer while watching the news on my smartphone. The footage from the CCTV showed me crystal clear.
The news articles mostly explained today's healing incident and questioned my identity. But the comments were full of skepticism and jokes. People still weren't buying it.
The next day, the story even reached the office.
"Is this for real...?"
"Dude, you believe that? In the 21st century? Obviously fake."
"AI's scary these days—one click and it makes stuff like that."
"I guess...?"
And surprisingly, even an unexpected person brought it up.
"Nngh... ahn... Ji-hoon."
"Yeah?"
Squeeze, squeeze. As usual, Kim Seon-ha had gone to the break room, I followed, and was groping her breasts and ass.
"You heard about that...?"
"What?"
"...The news about someone suddenly healing people and vanishing."
"Oh... that. You believe it?"
I hadn't expected it. I'd figured Kim Seon-ha would dismiss such footage as fake without even mentioning it.
"Is it real...?"
"...Dunno. What do you think, Seon-ha?"
"Ahn... Lately... you've been using my name..."
"Why not? We're close now. So? What do you think?"
"......I."
I paused groping her breasts, draped my arm over her shoulder, and waited for her answer. Finally, Kim Seon-ha replied calmly and quietly.
"I hope... it's real."
"......"
Pretty unexpected. Maybe she liked fantasy stuff?
Whatever. She hopes it's real, so I'll grant that wish.
That evening, I left work at the boss's urging again. I went to the first-floor bathroom, pulled up my hood, put on the mask. Didn't forget to switch appearances with the Additional Customization Mod. Loaded the saved GOD preset.
And.
"Fast travel."
Where would you like to travel?
[Studio Apartment]
[Korea University Hospital Lobby]
Traveling to Korea University Hospital Lobby.
I used the fast travel mod I'd set up yesterday.
"Saves on taxi fare."
Whoosh!
My vision flipped in an instant.
"Huh...?"
"Kyaa! You scared me!"
"W-Wait, that guy...!"
I was suddenly in the Korea University Hospital lobby. People nearby jumped back in surprise. Some recognized me and froze.
And the reactions that followed were mostly the same.
"It's the Masked Guy!!"
"Whoa! He's fucking huge! Real 2M!"
"...Here to heal more people?"
Everyone pulled out their smartphones to film me. Flashes popped, cameras focused. I stood still, soaking in the stares.
Yeah, film more. Spread it everywhere. ...Prove I'm real.
And then.
"H-Hey!"
A few hospital security guards rushed over from somewhere. They pushed through the crowd with tense faces and cautiously addressed me.
"......What brings you here?"
They didn't seem intent on arresting me. Makes sense—I hadn't done anything wrong.
I replied calmly.
"To save lives."
"......"
The guards fell silent for a moment, then...
"...We'll escort you to the trauma center."
They nodded with resolute expressions. Huh? Not blocking me? I'd expected them to say suspicious characters aren't allowed.
Did hospital management give some kind of order?
Either way, no need for annoying explanations or mods. Fine by me.
"This way."
The guards ahead cleared a path through the crowd. I raised a hand to stop them.
"Hold on."
"What's wrong...?"
"Not the trauma center today. Somewhere else."
"...Where to?"
I smirked under the mask at the security guard's question. Making sure the surrounding cameras picked up my voice, I said,
"The cancer center."
Ziiing...!
"Oh my... god...!"
"...You'll be fine now."
With security's guidance, I headed to the cancer center. A professor-looking doctor tried to block me midway, but after seeing yesterday's news, he stepped aside with a dubious expression.
After that, I found a terminal cancer patient and used the Colorful Magic Mod's Disease Cure Magic.
Works great.
I placed my hand on the patient's body, channeled the magic, and felt it clearly. Mana drained from me, healing their body. I could sense exactly where the disease was.
Back hurts too...? Might as well fix that while I'm at it...
Actually, healing magic was a base system in UnderDream, not a mod. So adding healing magic via mod seemed pointless. But surprisingly, UnderDream had no spells to cure 'diseases.' There were HP recovery spells, but diseases required potions.
Probably to prevent easily removing infections like werewolf or vampire with magic. Things treated as diseases.
Users wouldn't put up with that hassle.
Users tired of crafting and hunting disease cure potions added it as a mod. That's this Disease Cure Magic. It cures anything tagged as a disease. Including fractures, lacerations—general trauma too. In reality without HP bars, it was basically a panacea.
Ziiing...
Once the light faded after treatment, I removed my hand and addressed the onlookers.
"All done. The disease is completely cured."
Murmurs rose, and the professor who'd blocked me earlier approached the patient.
"S-Sir! Let's get you checked right away!"
"Yeah...! But I don't need tests...! I'm all better! For real...! I'm cured...!"
No one cried fraud or fake. No wonder—after yesterday's three saves in trauma. Plus the magical light show from my hand. They wouldn't admit it until verified, but no one doubted the cure.
I asked the doctor helping the elder up.
"That's one. Now two."
"Pardon...?"
"Tell me the two most urgent patients."
"......"
The stunned doctor nodded with a determined face after hearing me. Onlookers watched with expectant smiles.
Time to play savior...
This laid the foundation to make money. I walked to the next patient, grinning under the mask.
