Chapter 73: Mom is Jealous
Chapter 73: Mom is Jealous
"Then let's set off, my knight~"
Hearing Mom’s words, my heart fluttered with a slight excitement. Perhaps she hadn't thought much of it when she said it, but in my mind, knights and princesses were a match made in heaven.
I held Mom’s hand all the way into the elevator, still reluctant to let go.
Mom looked at me with an amused expression. "How much longer do you plan on holding it?"
I gave her hand a little shake in the air. "Doesn't a knight have to protect his princess? You’re the princess, so I’m protecting you."
Mom chuckled softly. "Where in the world is there a thirty-something-year-old princess? I’m more of a Queen."
There was a hidden meaning in her words; how could I not hear it?
I rubbed my nose, desperately wanting to say: If you’re the Queen, then I’ll be the Emperor and make you the mistress of my harem.
But even if it killed me, I wouldn't dare say that out loud. I could only mutter it to myself in my head.
Mom withdrew her hand from my palm. Just as a wave of disappointment washed over me, she unexpectedly reached out and gently tucked her arm through mine.
In an instant, my excitement reached a fever pitch. My brain turned to mush from this single gesture. Even the memory of catching a glimpse of her hairless beautiful pussy that day couldn't compare to the thrill surging through my heart right now.
It was true—lust could only provide temporary satisfaction, but love lasted forever.
My intense reaction likely stemmed from this. After all, I was a greedy man; I wanted both Mom’s body and her heart. With the roar of the engine, the Mercedes-Benz pulled out of the garage and sped down the main road toward the airport.
I glanced at the flat shoes Mom had just changed into and said with a smile, "Mom, once I finish the Gaokao, I’m going to get my driver’s license. That way, you won't have to go through the trouble of switching shoes back and forth when you drive."
Mom was wearing sunglasses, which obscured her cold, elegant phoenix eyes but served to emphasize the small, delicate contours of her face. "Mm. Once you learn how to drive and I’ve grown old, you can take me out for drives more often."
"Listen to you. You’re still several years away from forty. Why do you keep acting like you're so old?"
Mom kept her eyes fixed on the road ahead. "Isn't it you who thinks I'm old?"
"Did I ever say that?"
Mom fell silent at that. Indeed, I had never said such a thing. Her sudden preoccupation with her age was undoubtedly due to the fact that last night, I had "disliked" the fact that Chu Ning was several years older than me.
Seeing Mom at a loss for words, I smirked inwardly, feeling a strange sense of satisfaction.
It wasn't easy to get the better of her, after all.
Mom gave a soft huff and said nothing more.
I continued, "It’s a pity I’m only sixteen. I still have to wait two years to get a license."
Mom pondered for a moment. "It’s not impossible to get one now if you really want to."
"What do you mean? You have a way?"
"Lin Yuan."
"Yeah?"
Mom said softly, "In reality, many of the rules in this world are made for ordinary people."
She adjusted her sunglasses with a slender finger. "But it’s fine to wait until you’re an adult. You’re still young; I wouldn't feel safe letting you out on the road yet."
"I'll just follow the Queen Mother's arrangements then."
After another long stretch of driving, I spotted several clusters of flowers blooming by the roadside and quickly said, "Mom, if you see a flower shop, pull over for a second."
"Buying flowers for your aunt?"
"Yeah. Auntie loves flowers so much. I think she’ll be really happy if she sees a bouquet the moment she gets off the plane."
Mom replied indifferently, "Fine."
Screech—
The car pulled up in front of a flower shop. Mom took off her sunglasses and reached for her seatbelt, but I quickly stopped her. "No need, no need. It’s just a bouquet; don't trouble yourself by getting out."
"It’s fine. Waiting in the car is boring anyway."
Mom and I walked into the shop, and a young lady immediately approached us.
Though the shop wasn't large, the layout was elegant and cozy. Various flowers were skillfully arranged in vibrant, eye-catching combinations, showcasing the florist's exquisite craft.
"It smells so good!"
I couldn't help but marvel. The shop was filled with a rich fragrance—some scents were as sweet as honey, while others were as light as morning dew. The blend of aromas was truly refreshing.
Looking at the pretty florist, I asked with a smile, "Did you arrange all of these yourself?"
The girl gave a sweet smile. "I did."
"They're beautiful."
The florist’s eyes crinkled with joy at the compliment. She was about to say something when Mom suddenly let out a soft cough. She glanced at her watch, interrupting our conversation. "Hurry up and pick something. We’re pressed for time."
The florist glanced at Mom and couldn't help but gasp in admiration. "Sister, you’re so beautiful! Is this little brother buying flowers for you?"
Being praised so bluntly by a stranger made Mom look a bit embarrassed. She stole a quick glance at me, waiting for my answer.
I quickly replied, "No, these are for someone else. Could you please put together a bouquet of red tulips and baby's breath for me?"
Mom’s eyebrows shot up at that. She swept a glance over me and pressed her red lips together, but said nothing.
"Sure thing, sure thing." The girl hurried toward the back of the shop. "Please wait a moment, it’ll be ready shortly."
I turned back to look at Mom’s lovely face. "Mom, wait for me a bit. I’m going to go see how she’s putting it together."
Mom looked slightly irritated. "Suit yourself."
Without staying a second longer, she turned and headed back to the car.
Watching Mom’s graceful silhouette, I found it a bit funny. Her reaction was simply too obvious and quite adorable.
If you want flowers, just say so.
Watching the florist work diligently, I stepped forward and asked, "Do you do home deliveries?"
"Of course! That’s how we stay in business."
"Then please put together another bouquet of white lilies and deliver them to this address."
"You got it~"
I gave her my home address and paid the bill. Then, clutching the bouquet of nineteen tulips and baby's breath, I hurried back to the Mercedes.
Nineteen flowers symbolized eternal love.
Tulips expressed affection in a way that was less blunt and intense than roses—they were more subtle, making them perfect for my maternal aunt. The red tulips were delicate and dripping with color, like a burning flame, passionate and uninhibited. Meanwhile, the pure white baby's breath looked like a scattering of tiny stars among the tulips, complementing them perfectly.
The intense love of the red tulips was just like my maternal aunt’s love for me: bold, passionate, and flamboyant. She never hid it and was never subtle. If I hadn't been holding her back, she would have already come clean to Mom about our relationship.
Recalling how I had knelt on the floor, clutching her legs and begging her not to say anything, I couldn't help but find it hilarious. I had been far too foolish. If even my maternal aunt wasn't afraid of people knowing, what did I, a "child," have to fear? Between me and my maternal aunt, it was clearly a case of her "seducing" an innocent, ignorant youth like me.
I carefully placed the flowers in the back seat, but after a thought, I decided to hold them in my arms instead.
Seeing how I was cradling the bouquet, Mom couldn't help but remark, "Is one bouquet really that precious to you?"
I smiled. "Well, it is for Auntie, after all."
My words were met with a long silence.
It was like a champion landing a silencing blow—her defenses were shattered, and she was left speechless.
I stole a glance at Mom, but I couldn't see her expression behind the sunglasses. I intentionally prodded, "Mom, why aren't we moving? Didn't you say we were running out of time?"
Mom’s red lips twitched. After another long pause, she finally asked, "Aren't you buying anything else?"
I pretended to be impatient. "No, no. Let’s go. I can't wait to see Auntie."
Mom took a deep breath and then slammed her foot onto the accelerator.
Thump!
My body was thrown back violently, my head slamming against the seat. Clutching the back of my throbbing head, I couldn't help but complain, "Mom! Why did you start so fast?!"
Mom snapped coldly, "Shut up!"
I obediently fell silent, but inwardly, I smirked. Look at you... so stubborn.
