Titan Summoning (3)
“Unlike other titans, there are only seven Lord-grade titans in existence. Each is sealed within one of the Seven Divine Weapons, known as the artifacts crafted by the seven gods themselves. As you may know, these Lord-grade titans were forged in the Heavenly Realm.”
But was that really some big secret? They announced the titan update the moment the holy sword was drawn, popping up a server-wide alert and everything.
“Over the millennium, the whereabouts of some of the Seven Divine Weapons became unknown, but this knowledge has been secretly passed down only to the popes of each church. This ‘Rune Paytona’ is one of the Seven Divine Weapons said to have been retrieved from the human realm by Lord Luilton after the God-Demon War.”
“……”
“Thus, the reappearance of this sword in the world is akin to a divine revelation from Lord Luilton that the demon realm's invasion is imminent. Magnus03, wielder of the holy sword! As its master, you now bear the sacred duty to stand at the forefront and repel the demon realm's forces when they come. Please keep this ever in mind.”
The Mystery of the Luitus Seal
The pope wrapped up his long tale by entrusting me with the weighty mission of saving the world. But what the hell was this demon realm crap? We were still in the early-to-mid game—hell, I hadn't even set foot on the uncharted continents yet!
This moment turned my suspicion that the holy sword had appeared way too early in the game story into cold, hard certainty.
“Just how far ahead did Illusion prep this game? And how the hell do I unseal this thing? Wasn't it supposed to unlock automatically after chatting it up?”
It felt like I'd soloed a console game's protagonist cutscene, getting a private cinematic preview and the full storyline roadmap. It was a special experience, sure, and helpful to boot. But it had jack shit to do with why I'd come here.
“Knock knock! Hey, Your Holiness? I thought you'd let me hop on a titan right away, but that ain't happening? So where the hell do I unseal this ‘seal’?”
Wondering if the unsealing quest was some separate side gig, I hailed him again—and surprisingly, the answer came quick.
“To summon the Divine titan ‘Luitus’ through the holy sword ‘Rune Paytona,’ you must first release its seal. Fortunately, I can perform the ritual myself. However, it requires immense holy power from our church... and a minor sacrifice. Shall I unseal it now?”
Unsealing Luitus
What the—? Everything was going smooth, and now this dogshit? My sacrifice? What nonsense was this? I hurriedly pulled up the quest window to check.
Clear Difficulty: B
To unseal the Divine titan ‘Luitus’, you must offer your experience points as the sacrifice.
Clear Conditions: Level -10
Rewards: Unseal ‘Luitus’ bound to ‘Rune Paytona’
“Whoa, this quest is nuts! Good thing I'm not high-level yet—any ranker would've rage-quit on the spot.”
Seemed like they'd designed it assuming only top-tier rankers would snag a Seven Divine Weapon. The penalty was massive enough to make anyone curse up a storm. But for me? Zero damage, pure honey. Plus, I'd already thought this through, so I gladly offered up the EXP.
Unsealing Luitus
The seal on ‘Luitus,’ bound to ‘Rune Paytona,’ has been released.
Shwaaaa!
… (Ten level-down effects and messages flashed by, then light burst from the holy sword in my hand, flooding the room in blinding white. Squinting, I saw the pope stretching both hands toward my sword, gesturing nonstop like some ritual master. Guess eating my EXP for free felt awkward, so they tossed in an unsealing animation.
Pfft! What’s with that getup? Lmao.
Struggling with a plain normal-grade longsword instead of some flashy divine blade? It was just comical. Anyway, the sudden unsealing spectacle ended anticlimactically quick.
Luitus
“You now bear an immense sa—”
“Save it! We’re done here—I’m out! What if I’d come back at high level and the seal was still on?!”
His nonstop yapping started feeling punchable, so I bolted from the pope’s chamber. Skipping verbose game stories is Korean gamer canon! I’d listened plenty already.
Once outside the church, I checked the specs etched on the holy sword for Luitus.
Summon: Immediately
The spot that once said “sealed” now read “immediately.” Hovering my hand over Luitus’s name brought up the details.
HP: 980,000 / 980,000
MP: 340,000 / 340,000
Attack Power: 5,550
Physical Defense: 6,510
Magic Defense: 4,250
A close-combat warrior-type titan modeled after Retuael, the archangel of the light god Luilton. One of only seven Lord-grade titans in existence.
• Summon ends when time expires or HP depletes. (Summon duration: Level × 1 second)
• Resummon cooldown varies by remaining HP at dismissal. (1% HP consumed = 1 hour cooldown; min. 24 hours)
• Cannot summon in tight spaces or instanced dungeons.
• Summon materials: 4x Shining Mana Stone
• Exclusive skills: Glory Sword(!), Radiant Shield(!), Judgment Advance(!)
It was packed with HP/MP recovery rates, evasion, crit rates, and more—the key stats alone were mind-blowing.
“HP... 980k? Seriously... I’m tired of raging at this game dev. The sword’s broken, but this titan? That’s the real cheat. Did they even think about balance making this? What is this, a single-player console game, not an MMO?”
The titan-exclusive skills marked with exclamation points were insane too.
Consumes 5,000 MP to deal 350% attack power as AoE damage in a 10m frontal cone. (Cooldown: 15 sec)
Consumes 8,000 MP to generate a shield absorbing 80,000 magic damage. (Cooldown: 30 sec)
Consumes 12,000 MP to dash forward 50m. Deals 150% attack power damage and knockback to targets along the path. (Cooldown: 60 sec)
It wasn’t just awesome anymore—it was scary. With gear and a titan like this, a nerf patch announcement wouldn’t shock me right now.
I checked my friends list to see if Hyunjung was online.
This shut-in played till morning and woke up past lunch, so of course he was logged in. With whispers off, I sent a party invite and linked Luitus’s info.
With so many players using real-life avatars sans customization, Tayen launched without personal recording to protect privacy—a bold move back then, now standard. New VR laws had popped up, and that recent in-game stalking conviction had blown up online.
Tegbek Village, at the entrance to the Centura Volcanic Zone. Even level 300+ high-end users hunted cautiously here. Not many residents, but high-level mobs like lava golems and flame lizards spawned near the gates—perfect for titan test-driving. If players swarmed at the sight, I could duck into town before summon expired.
Grabbed the one Shining Mana Stone from storage and warped to Tegbek. Hyunjung arrived soon after. Stealthing, but same party let him spot me quick. We slipped into an empty house in a quiet alley, and he followed silently.
“Dude, what’s with the getup? Last time leather longcoat, now a suit? Where do you even get this stuff in-game? You’re resourceful!”
“Our Jihwan’s still lowbie, huh? Tailors can design custom at high levels! This is from a famous user—took forever to collect. Full set’s over 5k gold!”
White two-button jacket and slacks. Long time no see in Tayen, and the guy was rocking a modern suit over armor.
“Eek! Stuff that’d get shredded on armor, and you dropped that much? Fashion sense is still trash, though. That hat? So tacky!”
“Hey, hey, it’s a hat, not ‘hat-boy.’ Don’t know fedora? Just admit you’re jealous of my fit, punk.”
BlessedFace—Hyunjung. Handsome IRL and not super vain, but in VR? Total makeover addict. Hated his dumb ID too. Result? Top-tier gear should look badass, but nah.
“Paladin in that? Looks lame, embarrassing even.”
“Shut up. Real ones know it! Exuding ultra-pro aura no normie can copy!”
TL;DR: hardcore looksed player obsessed with character aesthetics.
“Enough chatter—drop the mana stones. Need 4 to summon, only had 1.”
“Rare drop even in high-end zones, not for your level. Anyway, finally seeing a titan in VR... and I’m first? Kinda hyped.”
“Heh, why you hyped? Hide on clocktower top or rooftop—someone might spot us. Summoning at north gate, pulling nearby mobs. Get a good vantage.”
“Think I’m a noob? I got it—go show off!”
Heart pounding, I reached the north gate. Lava golems and flame lizards lurked just beyond the walls—no players in sight. No hesitation.
“Summon Luitus!”
Chanting the activation phrase like a mount summon, the sword responded instantly. Was this the right way? Ziiing!
Plain steel longsword, but the blade glowed white-hot, accompanied by a mechanical hum. A massive magic circle bloomed around me. Then a pillar of light erupted skyward—and suddenly, I was mounted on the summoned Luitus.
View skyrocketed 6 meters up. Looking down, my limbs and torso were now gleaming white metal.
