Titan Summoning (2)
[Secret Tied to the Luitus Seal: One-Time Quest]
Clear Difficulty: F
The Holy Sword Rune Paytona currently has the summoning of Luitus sealed.
To unseal the bound Luitus, head to the holy site of the Luilton Church in Rune Mon(!), the capital of the Paysen Kingdom.
Upon arriving at the Luilton Church holy site and meeting Pope Antero(!), the seal can be released.
It looked like a no-brainer quest—just F-rank, so probably as simple as finding the pope of the Luilton Church to break the seal.
I immediately used a space teleporter to head to Rune Mon.
[You have arrived at Rune Mon, the capital of the Paysen Kingdom.]
"Recruiting guild members! Any healer level 150 or above, no questions asked!"
"Reporting a scammer! This bastard drags it out then swaps items in the trade window!"
As expected from a kingdom's capital, it was buzzing with players chattering away.
No matter how undetectable my 8-star Stealth was in town, I couldn't keep it up while talking to NPCs for quests. Charging straight to the pope and getting spotted by players could cause problems.
My ID's probably spread far and wide among players by now... Better call it here for today. I'll log in at dawn when it's quiet and clear the quest then.
And with that, I ended my long, fateful first day in Tayen—the one that had completely upended my life.
"Hua! Already evening news time?"
Stepping out of the capsule, it was past 9 p.m. I rarely watched the evening news, but today I couldn't skip it, so I flipped on the TV as an exception.
Taitonic TV's evening broadcast had been going for a while, but they were still talking about me.
The studio anchors from the daytime broadcast, Kim Seok Yong and Yang Min Ah, were chatting back and forth.
"These guys are still live? Don't they ever clock out?"
Clips of me picking up the item kept replaying on the data screen. Watching it again stirred fresh emotions. My ID was mosaiced now, but seeing myself on screen felt surreal.
"Mosaic or not, with that many people there... Who'd have thought I'd be the one saying I became famous overnight..."
Searching my ID on the official Tayen homepage brought up thousands of posts. In just half a day, I'd become a hot topic.
"What the— this one's by 'Infinite Corp'? Haha! This guy's ID is 'Infinite Corp'? Must've been dying of jealousy watching me snag the Holy Sword. Heh."
It was fascinating that so many people were buzzing about me. The unfamiliar thrill wasn't half bad, so I kept scrolling until time slipped away.
With an important dawn appointment tomorrow, I forced myself to shut down the PC and hit the bed. But lying down earlier than usual kept sleep at bay. Or maybe it was excitement for the unknown life ahead.
Man, a day like this in my life... This isn't a dream, right? How should I use the Holy Sword to become a legend? Can I really achieve my goals? When and how do I tell my parents?
Tossing and turning with those thoughts, an hour flew by before I finally drifted off.
Bbappa bbappa bbam!
5 a.m. The alarm—earlier than usual—jerked me awake. I flicked on the TV first; reruns of yesterday's coronation incident were still playing.
Not a dream... Yeah, it really wasn't!
I scarfed a quick early breakfast, skipped washing up, and logged into Titan Chronicle.
-La la lalala.
The refreshing melody cleared my foggy mind. I gazed at my trusty Magnum03 avatar before logging in.
As expected for early dawn, the plaza was quiet—unlike logout yesterday. Rune Mon, the Paysen Kingdom's capital, was called the City of Light for its stunning views and architecture. But it was equally famous for the throngs of players and NPCs.
Before hunting the pope, I decided to hit a special spot since I was here.
The Holy Sword was too flashy, always drawing eyes. But big cities had ways to hide it.
"Let's see, where's the appearance change NPC... There, East Plaza Sector 9!"
Players cared as much about looks as stats in any game, so most devs added appearance changes for 'look enthusiasts' and the masses. Titan Chronicle was no exception. Even in top-tier VR, it was still a game. The immersion only amplified the craving for cool looks—essential feature.
"Welcome, customer! Thanks for visiting 'Century Heirloom' Forge. Looking for something?"
"Show me the list for sale."
I bought a cheap, plain normal longsword from the cheerful vendor NPC. Then approached the head blacksmith nearby.
"Greetings, young adventurer! You must have business with me."
"Right. Want to change appearance on a weapon."
Extraction was cheap, but the item vanished without compensation. No need for fancy donor looks.
Place the weapon for appearance extraction on the blank slot.
You've selected Sturdy Steel Longsword (Normal, One-Handed Weapon). Correct?
I clicked YES, then slotted the Holy Sword into the apply target.
You've selected Rune Paytona (Divine, One-Handed Weapon) for application.
Applying extracted appearance.
Selected weapon's appearance change complete.
The change applied instantly. I took the Holy Sword from the NPC and equipped it at last.
"Well? Like the new look?"
"Of course! Hits different every time, but Tayen really is the king of games!"
Tayen's realism sometimes made me feel like I'd entered another world. That's why these moments felt weird. Specs unchanged, but it looked like a dime-a-dozen steel sword now.
Appearance sorted, I headed to the Rune Mon temple holy site for the pope.
A few early birds hustled about despite the hour, but 8-star Stealth got me there trouble-free.
<Holy Site of the Light God Luilton Church, Lubeent>
Entering revealed the building name—map perk.
Impossible in reality. Like strolling into the Vatican, meeting the pope at St. Peter's. Kinda like that. Maybe hit up the empire emperor sometime?
Open to all, no guarding NPCs. Sparse players at this hour let me slip into the pope's room easily.
Key figure, but his quests were high-level only, so he sat alone peacefully.
"I am Antero, faithful servant of Luilton and head of the Church of Light. What brings you?"
Pope looks way too casual for a church head. Supposed to be one of Tayen's top powerhouses.
Antero was a white-haired elder in plain priest robes, speaking like any average NPC—no gravitas.
Whatever, didn't matter to me. I dropped the quest keywords.
"Your Holiness, I've come to you to break the seal on the Holy Sword."
"Heavens! This is Luilton's divine relic, the Sword of Light Rune Paytona! One of the 7 Divine Weapons reveals itself again... The prophecies of the end times may soon come true! Oh Luilton! Have mercy on us!"
"Wha—sudden solo hype? Pfft!"
His freakout over the plain steel sword cracked me up, then a cinematic video unfolded.
[Ancient Memory of the 'Luitus Seal Secret' Quest Playing.]
"Waaah!!"
"Uwaaa!!"
Warriors' roars pierced epic, somber BGM. Barren earth sprouted blue portals spewing endless demons. Overhead, a massive dragon and drakes menaced with roars, wheeling about.
The video panned the human alliance facing them—grand scale battle. As forces clashed, hundreds of titans summoned at the human vanguard met the demon horde.
"Hang on, this? Seen it before?"
Just the launch CF cinematic from three years ago. Back then, it ended with the clash and Titan Chronicle title. I'd seen it dozens of times.
But this kept going.
"Huh? Not the end?"
Humans and demons fought fiercely, but humans were outmatched. Titans bisected by dragon jaws, legions incinerated by high demon black flames. One-sided retreat.
Then! Light beams pierced black clouds, slamming earth. Where they hit: seven titans, larger and grander than others.
Focus tightened on one wielding a radiant sword—fade to black.
Back in-game, Antero's serious face continued.
"A thousand years ago... Humanity faced apocalypse from Demon King Birtus and dragon alliance invasion. United with other races, wielding titans modeled on mythic heroes—but outmatched."
"Yawn, same old story?"
Typical skippable lore. But this was mine alone, so I listened closely.
"History records pitying gods intervened, driving demons back and sealing dragons. But truths were hidden. The key: the 7 Divine Weapons summoned gods' war machines—Lord-grade titans."
Familiar God-Demon War legend. I tuned out, then perked at the end.
"What? Lord-grade titan?"
Game's tier system meant my Holy Sword titan outclassed others. No doubt.
