The Low-Griefer's Shadow
The enemy team has a low-griefer~
@ Lee Minho
The next game started, and Seoyeon let out a panicked voice. Curious what was wrong, I asked, and Seoyeon answered in a deflated voice.
"Ah, it's like this... Haa, the enemy team has a low-griefer."
Low-griefer?
Hearing Seoyon’s answer, I quickly scanned the enemy team’s nicknames. Which one was the low-griefer... Ah, this guy?
Among the five on the enemy team, there was one who had created a nickname as if advertising that he was the low-griefer to Seoyeon.
"Yes... Haa, when I’m playing Overwatch, they come to low-grief me every time. It feels like they’re waiting for me to play Overwatch. The reason I’m stuck in Bronze is because of these kinds of guys!"
Seoyeon complained to me, slightly teary-eyed as if venting her frustration from the past. I hadn’t done any internet broadcasting before, so I had no experience with being low-grieffed, but I knew what low-grieffing was and understood the emotion of wanting to quit gaming for good after being low-grieffed.
If I were to stream, would there be a lot of low-grieffers? Just imagining it was terrifying?
Especially low-grieffing that interferes with playing the game properly. When you see low-grieffers, if you meet them on the enemy team, you don’t care about winning or losing and just glare at the streamer, or if you meet them on the same team, you enjoy the streamer suffering through various interference using character skills.
Among them, the worst are those who deliberately throw the game to make the team lose. This is the worst of the worst because it harms not only the low-grieffed streamer but also the other three teammates.
Well, if all four other teammates are low-grieffers, the situation changes.
Anyway, the enemy team has one low-griefer?
This match, I need to focus a bit.
Just because the low-griefer is in Bronze like Seoyeon doesn’t mean they have the same skill level.
The scary thing about low-grieffers is that even if their skill is higher than ours, they deliberately match MMR to harass the streamer. So, just because they’re in the same rank doesn’t mean they have the same skill. Rather, if they can adjust, it means their skill is even higher. So, this guy in Bronze probably doesn’t have Bronze-level skill.
For now, we picked the same characters as before. While observing how the low-griefer on the enemy team would come out, we started the game...
"Aaaah! Crazy!"
Suddenly, Seoyeon’s pained voice was heard, and looking at the kill log, it seemed she had been taken down by the low-griefer.
The low-griefer had chosen Reinhardt, a tank character who uses shields to protect teammates. The problem was that this tank character charged straight at Seoyeon and swung his hammer to kill her.
Moreover, Seoyeon’s position wasn’t great at all. Knowing there was a low-griefer, she should have stayed close to the main team, but she had gone up to the second floor to secure a point and ended up being taken down from behind.
If it was just dying once to the low-griefer, I wouldn’t have heard that it was a low-griefer. Rather, if she had died with the low-griefer, it would have been okay, but if she died to the low-griefer and then the low-griefer goes to the respawn location of the revived streamer and ambushes her every time she comes out.
"Haa... I’ll go quickly!"
Seoyeon, knowing this, ran to join as soon as she revived, and it was shown on the broadcast. At that moment, the Reinhardt suddenly appeared from the alley and charged, pinning Seoyeon’s character against the wall and killing her in one shot.
Then, sitting on the dead Seoyeon’s character, getting up repeatedly, and even teabagging her, it was a perfect low-griefer.
During the game, Seoyeon had to fight the low-griefer alone the whole time. Excluding Seoyeon, my teammates and I engaged with the enemy team and secured victory points, but Seoyeon was pinned by the low-griefer and couldn’t even properly join the fight.
Hearing Seoyeon’s pained voice over the mic, I wanted to go help, but I couldn’t because if I left the main team, our team would be outnumbered by the low-griefer, so it was unavoidable.
Since I couldn’t leave her alone, I told Seoyeon not to fall back. When Seoyeon read my chat, she understood and continued the game staying as close as possible without falling back from me.
Wait... is this a place where the low-griefer would come out?
When we arrived at the place where Reinhardt would suddenly rush out, the low-griefer appeared as if waiting and charged at Seoyeon. I immediately shot a sleep bullet at Ena to put Reinhardt to sleep.
As soon as Reinhardt fell, our team’s focus shifted to Reinhardt, and no matter how tanky, with five people’s firepower pouring in at once, he couldn’t hold on and died.
"Haa, really... Thanks to Gosu-unni~"
After that, I used sleep bullets sparingly, using them whenever a Reinhardt targeting Seoyeon appeared to save her. Normally, I would have saved them for the dealers coming back, but luckily, since we were in Bronze, it was more common to just fight fiercely than to focus on healing me, so it was possible.
As I kept interfering with the low-griefer trying to kill Seoyeon, the low-griefer got angry and started cursing in the overall chat.
"Shit, when low-grieffing, now coming to say such things."
Seoyeon’s angry voice came from the mic. Probably because of this low-griefer who is double-faced?
Well, thanks to this low-griefer who wasn’t playing properly, we won this match too.
"Haa... We barely won. Really thanks to Gosu-unni. When I meet low-grieffers, my emotional points are drained too much..."
Seoyeon said to me, her voice drained.
"Ah, no. There’s a lottery too, so we’ll go to the next match right away."
@ Kang Seoyeon
The feeling of blood boiling when meeting a low-griefer, I don’t know why people torment people like this.
Sometimes when I die to the low-griefer, the chat is happy, which makes me even more irritated.
But this time, it’s not just me, so it’s fortunate. If I had been solo queuing, I would have suffered from low-grieffers the whole game and ended it, but now I’m with a reliable ally, Gosu-unni.
By the way, this Gosu-unni is really good. She puts me to sleep exactly when needed, and when I’m about to die, she heals me...
It feels like not only a dealer but also a healer is really good. No, is it that the person is good at Overwatch itself?
"Thanks to Gosu-unni, we won~ Then the points for 1 win also flew away. What to do, there was a year that bet 50,000 points? Did they think it was a safe asset?"
Didn’t know we’d win against the low-griefer
"So, who bet only 1 win?"
From the chat, the terrifying sound of low-grieffers coming came out. Really, I don’t like that.
But reality is cruel.
"Haa... Why is there a low-griefer on our team this time..."
Hearing Gosu-unni’s question about another low-griefer, I felt a bit embarrassed.
"Yes... There’s a person who says ‘Don’t change your nickname to enemy’ right? This person is one of the low-grieffers who follows me around."
While I was explaining to Gosu-unni, the low-griefer who was good for something stood in front of my character and greeted with an emote. The one who assassinated me with Reinhardt earlier and the one greeting in front of me now. There were more, but luckily, they didn’t appear in this match.
Originally, I had planned to duo with Gosu-unni all the way up, but since low-grieffers were coming, it probably wouldn’t work.
"Gosu-unni... It seems like I can only do this match as a duo today. Since low-grieffers are coming, it seems like it would be a nuisance to you."
Unfortunately, it couldn’t be helped. I couldn’t let Gosu-unni suffer because of me.
Meanwhile, the game started, and I was about to move forward toward the capture points.
Suddenly, an ice wall appeared in front of my eyes, preventing me from leaving the base alone.
"Shit, what is this again?"
This was something the low-griefer often did. The Mei Ling character they chose had a skill to create ice walls, which is normally used to block enemy attacks or cut off retreat paths to isolate them.
But for the low-griefer, it was more important how to make me suffer, and that was by using the ice wall to block my path.
I hope we win this match too, but can we win...
