Duos with Seoyeon Again
From streamer Seoyeon, who I had duoed with last time, a whisper asking to duo again this time flew into my ear, and I happily accepted.
Is she challenging to reach Silver again today?
When I had a moment, I quickly opened Seoyeon’s broadcast on my phone. Hearing Seoyeon’s voice, she seemed to be chatting with the viewers while waiting for me, along with the option screen.
Since the game was almost over when I got a call from Seoyeon, she wouldn’t have made me wait long.
With my carry, our team winning the game was almost certain, and the moment I checked the game result, the window for promotion popped up.
It might be very happy for Seoyeon, but for me to reach Silver was too natural an occurrence, so there was no excitement. More than that, I needed to send a whisper to Seoyeon who was waiting.
“It ended soon? I’ll send a group request~”
“Gosu unnie~ Do you happen to be watching my broadcast?”
“Yep! Then I’ll carry Gosu unnie’s character today too~”
Seoyeon’s broadcast and voice chat echoed with a time difference, so I turned off the broadcast sound completely. I wanted to keep the broadcast on normally, but since there was delay in the broadcast compared to voice chat, it was unavoidable.
By the way, is it okay to carry like this?
I had that thought because Seoyeon’s chat was in chaos.
Most opinions in the chat wanted us to not duo and just do solo ranked.
“I want to escape Bronze a bit! I’ll do solo again once I reach Silver, okay?”
Despite Seoyeon’s earnest request, the burning chat showed no signs of calming down. No, it might have been burning even hotter.
Seoyeon seemed to be trying to appease the burning chat. It made sense, since she probably thought she was causing trouble by duoing with me.
Waiting for the chat to calm was fine, but staying silent until then was boring.
Instead, what if we did this?
“You all just want to see me get carried, right? Ah! Yes, Gosu unnie!”
“Eh? No, you don’t have to…”
Even though there was no cam, Seoyeon answered in a slightly surprised voice, not knowing I would suggest this.
“Eh… I didn’t expect this situation. How is this? Isn’t this fine? Even if I win the game, since I’m the dealer I carried, I can’t say I rode the bus.”
Actually, you can’t say you won the game just because the dealer carried. There are cases where the tank absorbs damage well and the CC is perfect, the enemy team all goes down, and you win the fight. Or the healers make perfect saves and raise the survival rate higher than the enemy team.
But to have this result, at least the prerequisite is that the dealer must be a person. No matter how well the tank tanks or the healers heal, if the dealer doesn’t help the opponent, they lose in the end.
I think all tank and healer users in the country would sympathize. When I press tab and see the difference in damage between our dealer and the opponent’s dealer, if our damage is only half, it feels like the anger will burst.
If this happens, no matter how much tank or healer users try, it’s useless. They just have to stare blankly at the defeat text in front of them.
“Bet? Okay, then I’ll open the bet… Gosu unnie and I will do three games, so guess how many wins you want.”
In Twitch, every time you watch a streamer, their related points accumulate. Streamers can open bets where win/loss is divided according to specific conditions. Viewers can bet their points on what they want, and if successful, get more points according to the odds. It doesn’t cost money, but it makes viewers focus more on the broadcast to earn points, which is a good system.
Seoyeon asked me to choose how many wins to do while doing three games with her, and quickly people started piling on one to two wins. Some bet on three wins but it was almost none, and the number betting on losing one game was less than those expecting one or two wins but not zero, though not zero.
“Wait, why are there people betting even though they can’t win one game? No matter how Gosu unnie carries as healer, me and Gosu unnie should win at least one game!”
Seoyeon gave about one minute, and the results were:
“Why are there so few people expecting everyone to win?”
Seoyeon was surprised that only 2% expected to win three games with me.
“I need to show them my real skill. Seoyeon, are you ready?”
Our second duo started.
@ Kang Seoyeon
“Seriously, you all don’t believe my skill enough. No matter what, I want to smack the heads of those who bet on total loss.”
I admit I am really bad at games.
For example, when playing puzzle games, if I can’t progress even simple puzzles and people get angry and the broadcast goes wild, or if I can’t connect skills or don’t know the angle to enter and die alone often. Or when playing a game made to torture users, I insist on weird routes and can’t progress, then go back to the original path…
There is a game where I made a World Cup by collecting videos of me failing to advance, and made it to 64 rounds. Roughly 64 rounds… I collected 64 short videos, but according to the producer there are more than 64, and they randomly select 64 to play in the 64 rounds. If I don’t cut the broadcast, it might go to 128 rounds soon… Seeing that, it’s a sad reality that I do fail sometimes.
But still, Overwatch is the game I do well at. Even though it’s Bronze rank, I think I can do at least one person’s worth. If I play other games, I can’t even do one person’s worth! So I can laugh off not being able to play other games, but I can’t forgive this!
After a short wait, the first ranked game with Seoyeon started.
I boldly chose Soldier first. It was a character I could choose neutrally without knowing the opponent’s composition.
Originally I wanted Seoyeon to carry me as dealer, but since it’s a bet I can’t do that, so I was waiting for Seoyeon to choose a character. It looked like a sniper character, but it was an unusual character that is a healer not a dealer. Compared to other healers who have trouble healing from far, this character can heal from a distance. Also, throwing a bio grenade gives a buff that heals allies more, and a heal ban that prevents instant heal for enemies.
Since it’s a good healer, I guess the person who plays dealer well also plays healer well?
“Oh… then Gosu unnie, let’s try the nano aim combo!”
Ena’s ultimate is Nano Charge, which specifies a character for the duration, increases attack power by 1.5x and reduces damage by 50%, and instantly recovers 250 health. Ena’s ultimate is often used in combination with other characters’ ultimates rather than alone.
For the Soldier I chose, using ultimate automatically aims at enemies, and with Ena’s ultimate it’s like using legit aimbot.
I had in my mind the scene of sweeping the enemy team with Ena’s nano and my auto aim.
“Okay, I’ll carry this game!”
The first map was cargo, not bad. Since we attack first, I hid behind Reinhardt’s shield, moving the mouse to shoot at every enemy I saw. At first, the enemy team on the second floor, thinking the cargo was too advanced, came attacking us by coming down. I quickly retreated to attack, but at that moment, the enemy team’s Racer came out with the Loper, starting to focus fire on me.
Why are they coming at me!!
It was the moment I thought I would die immediately from the two dealers’ focus.
- Bang!
- Swoosh! Tumble!
Just before my character’s health reached 0, Ena’s grenade flew towards me, and the Loper and Racer who were close to me were hit by the grenade and got the heal ban status. Thanks to that, my health recovered instantly, my character didn’t die, and a sleep bullet flew towards the Racer, putting them to sleep.
First, I shot the Loper who was still attacking me with bullets, while the Loper who didn’t receive heals due to heal ban couldn’t use ghosting and had to run away. The low health Racer woke up from sleep and quickly used blink to escape.
At the moment the two dealers left the battlefield, the formation became 5 vs 3, so the opponent’s tank and two healers couldn’t counterattack and died to us.
“Wow… I really almost died.”
Even after that, Ena’s play by Seoyeon shone. Not only me, but she saved our team that was being focused and about to die, and repeatedly put the Racer who came back to heal with sleep bullets, preventing the Racer from doing anything. She easily pushed the cargo, and the enemy’s attack was easily blocked.
Is it showing that she can carry as a healer too? That sister is really good. But why is she in Bronze? Before I duoed with her, her record seemed too good, making me suspect she is a same person.
“Then let’s go to the next game~”
Anyway, since I won, my mood was great, and the ranked game was quickly taken.
“Then let’s win this game too… Ah, crazy.”
I was trying to continue the game in a good mood, but I met a big obstacle.
“Ah, that’s…”
I didn’t think such a situation would happen, but it started…
The reason I can’t escape from Bronze is not only that I can’t, but there’s another reason: the sniper who entered the enemy team appears at any time.
