Identity Laundering (Not)
"Ughhh, it's really over."
I smiled as I watched Momona's post-broadcast stream after all the content had wrapped up. Truth be told, I'd seen the ending I wanted her to see, so I was extremely satisfied.
"It's a bit sad that she said she won't do it again, but overall, this turned out great."
There hadn't been any bugs, and though there was that scary moment at the start, it got resolved fine. And I could understand why she wouldn't do it again—it had ended so perfectly that restarting would be tough.
"Alright then... but now what?"
I'd made the content, donated it, and gotten great results, but thinking about it, there were way more pressing problems to solve than that.
"Tch. But is it really okay that my gender's changed now?"
I'd wished for godlike dev skills, sure, but I'd originally been a guy. If I'd been a woman from the start, fine, but no—my ID, clothes, everything was still from my male days. Only my body had turned female, so I started getting worried.
"Should I... maybe send an email?"
I recalled the email from the moon I'd messaged before. Honestly, I didn't expect much from sending one myself, but maybe it could do something. Or at least, I hoped so.
I hammered out an email on the keyboard.
"Phew, sent it all off."
I stretched my shoulders wide and slumped in the chair. That was exhausting. Too much to even shower.
"Ugh... guess I'll just eat some ramen and crash."
Scratching my belly, I got up. Quick ramen, full stomach, then sleep.
"Today's ramen is doomed~"
"Mmgh..."
I stretched languidly on the bed and slowly sat up. It'd been ages since I'd slept so deeply and comfortably. Usually, I'd be stressing over making content and succeeding, but nailing it right away let me rest easy.
"Yawwwn... whoa, slept like a rock."
The sweet sleep had my mind crystal clear.
"What now?"
Scratching my head, I instinctively grabbed my phone and started surfing the net.
Momona's content had been a massive hit. Posts gushing about who the creator was, how it was made, even jokes about aliens—pure satisfaction everywhere.
"Kyaah, this is it, exactly the reaction I wanted."
The praise felt amazing; I grinned like an idiot and rolled around on the bed. This joy could last all day.
"Up we go! Can't just lounge forever, though."
No matter how good it felt, I couldn't stay put. Not enough to settle here yet.
"Hm? Oh? Email notification."
I blinked at the alert for the one I'd sent yesterday. I'd figured no reply, but here it was.
"Tch. Let's check it out?"
A bit nervous. I'd ranted 5700 characters about the inconvenience— what if it got mad and revoked my wish?
I rubbed my eyes—was I reading it wrong? No matter how many times I reread, it seemed real.
Knock knock.
"Delivery!"
Right on cue, a knock at the door. I swallowed hard. I hadn't ordered anything. Nothing should come to my place, especially not while reading that email? Goosebumps.
"...Gotta see what it is first?"
I crept to the door, stood on tiptoes, and peered through the peephole. No one outside.
"Ugh. Tch, was this always so high?"
Even on tiptoes, I barely reached. Scratching my head—I hadn't been this short before. I opened the door.
A box sat by the door. I glanced around warily and dragged it inside. What could it be?
"Let's see. 'We wish the wisher happiness'?"
Scratching my head at the note on top, I opened it.
This ID has been updated with the wisher's revised identity records and delivered.
"An... ID?"
Inside: one ID card and a small note. Curious, I read the note first.
"Your identity records have been revised? No way."
I blinked in disbelief, then checked the ID.
"Name's still Hayun Kang, birthdate same... wait, resident number's different?"
The leading digit had changed from 3 to 4. Yep, fully female now.
"...But is this just a fake? Will it actually work?"
Doubting, I grabbed my phone, downloaded a random app that needs ID verification.
"Let's see if it's real..."
I input the new details. It went through smoothly. This is legit.
"Whoa. What's really up on the moon? This is getting kinda scary."
Made me wonder if VR was a moon wish too. Nah, probably not—it's from collective research.
Honestly, didn't want to dwell. Seemed too easy; digging might bring trouble.
"Anyway... what now?"
Everything going too smoothly felt weird. But good's good—time to shower.
"Crashed without washing yesterday. No wonder I feel grimy."
I slowly stripped and headed to the bathroom. If I could move, I'd get a place with a proper tub, not this one-room joke.
"Mm... whoa! Slut— no, me. Ugh."
I covered my eyes with one hand at my naked reflection, groping blindly for the showerhead. Even knowing it was my body, seeing those violent curves was too much! Too... extreme! Too big!
After a grueling shower, I stepped out, towel-drying my hair and shaking off water.
"Ugh... but damn, it's impressive."
Feeling my face heat up, I roughly dried off and threw on clothes. Staring longer might knock me out first.
"Sigh. Time for more dev? Who to tribute next."
Back at the computer, I scrolled for streams. Wondering who had good ones.
"Hm?"
My Dischat app pinged. I tilted my head and checked.
"What's up with her now."
Familiar name: Minji Nammgung, aka Yeon Minji the streamer. My childhood friend—and the culprit who got me into content creation. She'd begged for help prepping her VTuber debut; I thought it'd be easy, said yes, and somehow ended up here. Grateful, really. Without her, I never would've touched content.
We'd barely talked lately since I was dev-obsessed, so I'd forgotten. And while I'd messaged her to check my stuff before, her initiating? First time.
Reading her messages, I got why.
I smirked at the barrage and hit call. Sigh, zero patience as always.
"Yeah, that was me. What's up?"
"Knew it, it was you... wait, who is this?"
"Huh? What're you talking about. It's me. MPG."
"What? You buy a voice changer? Starting netkama now?"
I let out a disbelieving chuckle at her words. Netkama? Wait. Oh, right—I'm a girl now. The ID helps live as female, but doesn't rewrite memories of old connections.
"Ahh..."
"What? For real? Trying to become a VRMILF or something?"
"No, no... not that... ugh."
"Then what? Get surgery or something?"
"No... sigh, you know my one-room? Can you come over?"
"What's this? Not making some weird thing and summoning me again?"
Sighing at her suspicion, I snapped a selfie and sent it.
Click—
"Check this first."
"Huh? What... who's this?"
"...Me."
"Pfft, what nonsense. Success unlock some weird hobby? Or hobby led to success?"
"……"
"...For real?"
"Yeah."
I could feel her shock through the line. Honestly, I'd doubt it too—someone you know changing gender? Unreal.
"Anyway, come over. Realizing I desperately need your help."
"Wait, I'm still processing. Ugh, what help?"
"Clothes, girl stuff? I know nothing."
A sigh came through my earbuds.
"Fine, heading over. Stay put."
"...Yeah, got it."
What was with the attitude? Sounded grumpy.
"Eaten?"
"Nah, just woke up."
"Grabbed some food on the way. Burger okay?"
"Obviously. Hambooger is top-tier."
"Got it. See ya."
Call ended. I scratched my head. Why the mood?
"Tch. Mad I turned girl?"
Nah, probably not. We'd seen it all growing up—no secrets, no reason to care now.
"Whatever. Brainstorm ideas while waiting. Hambooger~ Hambooger's coming~"
Anticipating her burgers, I pondered the next content tribute. Wanted to make more ASAP.
Knock knock—
I rushed to the door and peeked. Minji waiting outside—I flung it open.
"Come on in~ Been a while?"
"What the hell are these massive things?!"
"Eek! What're you doing?!"
Minji, reunited after so long, grabbed my chest right away. Why?!
