Chapter 72: Gynecological Diseases
Chapter 72: Gynecological Diseases
It’s hard for ordinary people to understand the urgent need for a good weapon. The saying goes that if you want to do your job well, you must first sharpen your tools. This is how An Ran feels now.
Thus, An Ran has another reason to want to escape this hospital. She remembers that in her ex-husband's home, there is a military knife stored in the attic that he treasures very much.
When An Ran cleans out the attic, she takes out the saber to examine it. The blade is sharp, and just brushing her hand against it leaves a deep cut. Terrified, she never touches the knife again.
“Okay, I’ll go look for it,” Hu Zhen says, nodding at An Ran. She hands her fruit knife to An Ran, replacing it with one that looks expensive but is of lesser quality than the 9.9 yuan fruit knife.
It seems like she remembers something and picks up a plastic bag from her bed, handing it to An Ran. “These are some medicines I collected from the ward on the fourth floor and the nurse’s pharmacy. I’ve read the instructions for some of them, and they’re suitable for us. I saved some for you.”
“For me?” An Ran raises her head in surprise as she takes the plastic bag from Hu Zhen, looking at the pile of medications inside. “What do I need these for?”
"Aren't you itchy?"
Seeing the strange expression on An Ran’s face, Hu Zhen looks even more puzzled. She thinks for a moment, sits down on the edge of her bed, with the baby crib separating her from An Ran, and asks, “You haven’t washed down there, right? You haven’t cleaned up the lochia either. Given the limited conditions and the lack of clean water, if it’s really itchy, don’t feel embarrassed to say it. We’re all women; whatever you’re experiencing, Chen Jiao and I are experiencing it too.”
Hu Zhen thinks An Ran is simply too embarrassed to admit she is itching. She believes that, given An Ran’s appearance, which looks as if she has crawled out of black blood, there is no way she can avoid some gynecological issue. Her pants are completely stained black—how could she not have a gynecological disease with all that odor?
Hu Zhen and Chen Jiao are in a better position because they have stocked up on maternity sanitary napkins before being admitted to the hospital. They haven’t gone out to kill zombies, so their bodies are cleaner than An Ran’s. However, the maternity napkins are often stuffy and non-breathable, and without clean water to wash, they too have experienced itchiness after just two days.
When An Ran asks Hu Zhen to find cod liver oil earlier, she stumbles upon a lot of personal wash liquid in some wards. So, even if there is no clean water, using the wash liquid for now is better than nothing.
An Ran knows that if cleanliness isn’t maintained during the confinement period, they will likely suffer from various gynecological diseases in the future. When they find the government, it will be essential to address these issues.
An Ran silently pulls out a large bottle of personal wash liquid from the plastic bag, turning it over in her dark hands as she looks down at the brand on it. It is a medical wash liquid prescribed by the hospital, so it should be effective.
But the truth is, she doesn’t feel itchy. Even after all these days without bathing, brushing her teeth, or washing her hair—despite the lochia flowing down—An Ran genuinely doesn’t feel any itchiness or signs of gynecological disease.
When she tells Hu Zhen this, Hu Zhen obviously doesn’t believe her. An Ran opens her mouth, raises her wrist to grab the large bottle of wash solution, and, under Hu Zhen’s gaze of “I understand, don’t be embarrassed,” she closes her mouth.
