Chapter 605: Truly Beautiful
Chapter 605: Truly Beautiful
“Tang Siluo fainted—why are you calling Zhang Boxun?” Zhao Ru tilted her head and shot An Ran a sidelong glance. “Do you just want to see those two patch things up like nothing happened?”
“Hehehe, if not Zhang Boxun, then are you going out there to rescue Tang Siluo?”
“What the hell does that have to do with me!”
Zhao Ru stood up and went to call Liang Ziyu. She didn’t care whether Tang Siluo lived or died, but she also couldn’t stand the thought of Tang Siluo going through all this trouble only to end up winning Zhang Boxun’s affection.
She wasn’t looking for Liang Ziyu to ask him to save Tang Siluo—but to tell him to find Fatty and have him take Tang Siluo back!
Left behind, An Ran shrugged indifferently and turned to pick up Doll.
She had been practicing her skating skills for several days now and planned to take Doll and Little Mint to the top of the ice tunnel while the snow had stopped. Though the weather remained harsh and unpredictable, the world outside was always changing. An Ran couldn’t stay trapped in this ice cave forever—she needed to prepare for the worst and keep up with the times.
Doll had to be bundled up against the cold. She wore a one-piece down snowsuit, covering her entire body except for her eyes. Little Mint and An Ran did the same, dressing in full polar gear.
The three of them slowly emerged from the tunnel, holding the map Yun Tao had drawn.
Only when they stepped out did they realize it was still dark outside. Inside the ice tunnel, it was hard to tell—every day they simply moved about when they woke, slept when they were tired, added firewood when the flames burned low, and fetched more from the planting room when it ran out. When the vents froze over, they cleared them. How could they possibly keep track of the passing days outside?
“Wow… it’s so beautiful.”
An Ran stood beneath the deep blue sky. Everything was silent—the usual noise buried beneath the snow. The bright stars gleamed, as if the heavy snow of the past few months had washed them clean. Their brilliance was dazzling.
A small stool was tied to her waist, and Doll sat on it, kicking her legs. A scarf wrapped around her tiny face, leaving only her eyes exposed. Those bright, black eyes gazed up at the sky as she pointed with a gloved hand, mumbling softly, as if asking her mother to pluck the stars down for her.
“Mom can’t do that,” An Ran said with a smile, holding Doll’s tiny hand. “Go find your dad later—maybe he can help.”
Looking at the vast, snow-covered landscape, An Ran held Little Mint’s hand with her free one. She smiled faintly as she gazed into the distance and sighed.
“Mint, do you think all those ugly monsters out there will freeze to death after this snowstorm?”
Little Mint didn’t answer. She didn’t know what to say. An Ran thought the scenery was beautiful—was it really?
Little Mint felt nothing. She had no desires, no expectations. As long as An Ran and Doll were happy, that was enough for her.
Just as An Ran turned to speak again, she suddenly tilted her head and froze.
In the distance, under the vast sky, stood Zhang Boxun and Liu Shasha. Liu Shasha held a Kongming lantern in her hands, and Zhang Boxun stood beside her, watching as she released it.
Is this for her late grandfather?
An Ran quietly pulled Little Mint and Doll to hide in the snow nearby.
The three of them watched Zhang Boxun as he lifted his head, following the lanterns drifting slowly upward. His face was calm—so calm it seemed almost unfamiliar.
