Chapter 604: You Should Go Back
Chapter 604: You Should Go Back
“Gone?”
Standing still, Zhang Boxun shifted slightly, moving Tang Siluo aside as he frowned at Liu Zhi. “When I left, wasn’t she fine?”
These past few days, it wasn’t that Zhang Boxun wanted to stay by Liu Shasha’s side constantly—he just didn’t know how to face Tang Siluo. Liu Shasha, having just lost her grandfather, and with her family freshly relocated, was surrounded by endless trivial matters.
Unwilling to see Tang Siluo, Zhang Boxun had busied himself helping the Liu family with these odds and ends.
Yet the moment he stepped away, Liu Zhi came running, saying Liu Shasha had vanished? What was going on?
“It’s my fault, I didn’t pay enough attention. It’s all my fault. These days, Shasha has been in low spirits—her grandfather doted on her the most.”
Tears shimmered in Liu Zhi’s eyes. Her manner instantly sparked an inexplicable fire in Tang Siluo’s chest.
She stepped forward, voice dripping with sarcasm as she said to Liu Zhi, “Your family member goes missing, so naturally you should look for her. Why drag Zhang Boxun into it? Is everyone in this world free to order him around like a laborer?”
Tang Siluo had always been reckless with her words. Now, with her jealousy burning, the bad habit resurfaced. She nearly jabbed a finger at Liu Zhi’s nose to accuse her outright of being a scheming vixen stealing her Zhang Boxun.
“And you are…?” Liu Zhi finally gave Tang Siluo a proper glance.
Her face showed a flicker of awkwardness as she turned back to Zhang Boxun. Seeing that he had no intention of introducing Tang Siluo, she suddenly realized that, these past few days, her family might have grown too accustomed to Zhang Boxun’s help—and Shasha had become more and more reliant on him.
If Tang Siluo hadn’t appeared, Liu Zhi might even have thought Liu Shasha and Zhang Boxun were about to become a couple.
Her expression grew stiff with embarrassment. Forcing a smile, she said to Zhang Boxun, “I’m sorry, truly sorry. I misunderstood… I’ll have my brothers go search for her instead.”
“I’ll come too.” Zhang Boxun’s brows furrowed slightly as he followed Liu Zhi into one of the ice tunnels.
He wasn’t sure why he insisted on getting involved. Maybe it was out of gratitude for Liu Shasha saving him, maybe it was the memory of her tear-filled eyes—either way, he couldn’t let it go.
Behind him, Tang Siluo rushed forward, grabbing his arm, crying out in desperation: “Don’t go! Who even is this Liu Shasha? Why is it, every time she disappears, you’re the one who has to look for her?”
Wasn’t he always the one who searched only for her?
Zhang Boxun’s body remained taut as he halted, slowly turning back. On his handsome face lay a faint veil of distance.
Lifting his arm, he gently shook Tang Siluo’s hand away, his voice deep and cold: “Miss Tang, you should go back.”
Then he turned, walking away with Liu Zhi without looking back.
Behind him, Tang Siluo cried out his name, stumbling a few steps after him, her eyes wide with disbelief.
This was her Zhang Boxun? Was this still the man who once swore to chase her to the ends of the earth? The man who couldn’t bear to see her cry, who couldn’t bear to let her demean herself—what had happened to him?
Unable to accept the change, Tang Siluo’s neck went slack, her head tipped back, and her vision went black. She fainted right there on the ice.
From behind the floor-to-ceiling window, An Ran, crouched and watching the show, jabbed her elbow into Zhao Zhi beside her.
“Hey, she fainted, she fainted. Hurry, call Zhang Boxun back—quick, quick!” An Ran said in an emotionless voice.
