Chapter 603: It Can’t Be Small
Chapter 603: It Can’t Be Small
An Ran was slightly out of breath, pressed against the door by Zhan Lian. She looked up at him as he set the candle down on the bathroom sink, pinning her in place as he whispered, “Hey, what beauty delivered herself to my door? Let me kiss you?”
“Just a kiss?” An Ran pursed her lips in a smile, eyes fixed on him in direct temptation. The steaming bath filled the bathroom with warmth. Her fingers traced along Zhan Lian’s neck as she too lowered her voice, whispering, “Keep it down.”
“Down? It can’t be down!!!” Zhan Lian grinned, every inch the rogue, tugging at her pants while coaxing, “Call me ‘husband,’ let me hear it.”
He didn’t really want her to call him husband—what he wanted was for her to speak, to hear the intoxicating sound of her voice.
“Don’t…” An Ran’s words broke apart, fragments of sound in the flickering candlelight. The mirror, fogged with steam, reflected a haze of intimacy. Her voice was small, threaded with pain, breaking into low whimpers.
And just then, the man teasing her deliberately asked, “Don’t what?”
“Don’t… don’t inside~~~”
She could get pregnant!
Hours of heart-racing intimacy passed. Doll, who had been sleeping for several hours, woke hungry and began crying—rescuing An Ran from her struggles in the bathroom. By then the candle had burned out, leaving the room in pitch darkness, where they fumbled by feel alone.
Outside, in the ice tunnels, a faint yellow glow came from the lightbulbs strung along the walls. Zhang Boxun, in a woolen overcoat and solid military boots, stepped firmly along the ice as he slowly approached An Ran’s villa.
He had come to say goodbye. With Axe’s death avenged, Zhang Boxun was leaving, seeking a place where Tang Siluo no longer existed, somewhere he could slowly mend his heart, shattered to pieces.
He didn’t know how long it would take—perhaps an entire lifetime—but as long as he wasn’t here, as long as he wasn’t under the same roof as Tang Siluo, he might still be able to breathe.
Just a few meters away from the gate of An Ran’s villa courtyard, where what had once been a waist-high fence was now covered in ice, transformed into a solid ice wall—
At the gate crouched a woman in a long golden down coat. The moment she saw him appear, she stood up, watching him, silently crying as she murmured, “Zhang Boxun, where have you been? Why haven’t you come to see me all this time?”
Zhang Boxun stopped where he stood. At his side, the firewood pile burned low, its flames flickering weakly.
He watched Tang Siluo weep, his handsome face colder than ever before. With his heart already shattered, he could no longer tell whether it hurt or not.
It had hurt long enough. He was numb.
When he didn’t move, Tang Siluo cried harder, rushing forward to clutch his rigid, unyielding body. He was so stiff and hard it made her nose ache when it pressed against him.
She buried her face in his coat, sobbing, “What’s wrong, Zhang Boxun? It’s me, Tang Siluo. Why are you acting like you don’t even recognize me anymore?”
Slowly, Zhang Boxun raised his hands. He didn’t embrace her. His palms hovered in the air, then gently pushed Tang Siluo away. He had just opened his mouth to speak when, from behind, Liu Zhi came running out in a panic.
“Zhang Boxun! Zhang Boxun, have you seen Shasha? She’s gone! I only turned my back for a moment, and the child disappeared!”
