Chapter 588: Finally Came to Save Her
Holding Doll in her arms, An Ran leaned against the wall. Smiling, she turned and teased the child in her arms, speaking softly: “The next scene isn’t for children. Doll, how about Mommy takes you to find something fun instead, hmm?”
Doll stretched her little head, showing her double chin as she peered over An Ran’s shoulder. She saw Zhang Boxun slash Lei Jiang’s throat in one swift motion. Far from being afraid, the little one jabbed her chubby fingers at Lei Jiang’s fallen body and let out an excited cry.
Rounding a corner, several women in evening gowns walked by, chatting and laughing. They spotted An Ran and one pointed at Doll in her arms, exclaiming in delight: “Wow, where did this child come from? So fair and chubby—adorable!”
An Ran simply replied, “She’s our commander’s child.”
The women didn’t press further. There were plenty of “commanders” in the Grand Fortune, and it wasn’t unusual to bump into one at any corner. They assumed An Ran was just looking after some commander’s child.
After cooing at Doll a few times, they drifted off in small groups.
Only one woman remained, frozen in place, tears streaming down her cheeks.
Shifting Doll to her other arm, An Ran tilted her head—and froze as well.
Not far away, dressed in a black backless gown, stood Tang Siluo, weeping as she looked at her.
“Well, well, a familiar face.” An Ran smiled faintly.
Taking in Tang Siluo’s heavy makeup, luxurious clothes, and the many kiss marks on her neck, she understood immediately—this woman had clearly slept with a man just four or five hours ago.
An Ran turned away, carrying Doll back to where Zhang Boxun had killed Lei Jiang. She saw Luo Feifan and Zhan Lian still in hotel waiter uniforms, standing and chatting, while Zhang Boxun knelt on one knee, wiping his blade clean on Lei Jiang’s suit.
The rapid click of high heels echoed behind her. Tang Siluo, clutching up her gown as she hurried, ran toward them. Her makeup was already smeared with tears.
When she saw Zhang Boxun and Luo Feifan, she stumbled and fell to the ground, her voice hoarse as she sobbed: “Zhang Boxun, Brother Feifan!”
They had finally come. Finally, they had come to save her. Finally!
Luo Feifan turned his head slightly, glancing at Zhang Boxun.
Zhang Boxun, still holding his knife, rose to his feet and stood motionless, lowering his gaze to look at Tang Siluo. And so Luo Feifan didn’t move either.
That brief hesitation from Zhang Boxun made Tang Siluo’s heart, which had just leapt with relief, plunge into panic.
She gathered herself up, rushed forward, and clung tightly to Zhang Boxun’s body, hard as steel, weeping uncontrollably. “Zhang Boxun, Zhang Boxun, why did you only come now? Why did you only come to save me now? You have no idea how I’ve suffered. Lei Jiang—he’s a beast, a beast, Zhang Boxun!”
…Shouldn’t she have run to Luo Feifan first, crying in his arms? An Ran pursed her lips, baffled as she watched this scene unfold.
Truth be told, she hadn’t come today to rescue Tang Siluo at all. It was Zhang Boxun who had forced her to come here, using her plant intelligence system to find Lei Jiang.
If she’d known it would end up saving Tang Siluo, An Ran would never have come—no matter what!
She bore no mortal grudge against Tang Siluo, but she simply didn’t want to save her.
Zhan Lian walked over, shrugged at An Ran, and took Doll from her arms. Steering her toward the elevator, he grinned and said: “Other people’s business—we’ll just watch.”
