Chapter 589: My Wife’s Efficiency Is Too High
“True enough!” An Ran shrugged, smoothed the scarf at her neck, glanced at her reflection in the elevator, lifted her chin—and felt Zhan Lian’s arm loop around her waist.
He bent his head and murmured in her ear, "What is this? The allure of a uniform?"
"Who would wear a hotel waiter's uniform to seduce you?" An Ran shot him a look, peeled his hand off her waist, and turned her head.
Zhan Lian lowered his face and kissed her lips. She closed her eyes; when the elevator doors opened, she pushed him away.
The elevator stopped at the basement level. A snow jeep Zhan Lian had modified was waiting there—one of those with very high wheels that ran smoothly even on packed ice. The heavy snowfall had gone on for months; the snow had hardened into ice, and with Zhan Lian’s modifications the jeep handled it well.
Hedong was practically deserted. Fortunately, someone still cleared the snow from the Grand Fortune’s underground garage entrances every day; otherwise cars couldn’t get in or out.
In truth, the snow crews had been getting lazier lately—after all, people inside the Grand Fortune rarely went out. Letting the parking lot fill with snow didn’t seem to matter much.
Zhan Lian sat in the driver’s seat, holding Doll; Doll stood on his lap with both chubby hands on the steering wheel.
An Ran sat in the passenger seat changing her clothes, grumbling, “I thought we’d be playing around here for a long time. Didn’t expect we’d be heading back in less than an hour.”
“My wife’s efficiency is too high—It only takes a minute to find someone and lock down on the target. There's nothing I can do." Zhan Lian flattered her, and his hand wandered indiscreetly onto her thigh.
She slapped it away; the next second his hand came up behind her neck, turned her toward him, and their mouths met again in a deep kiss.
They didn’t notice how long they kissed before the elevator doors opened.
Luo Feifan walked ahead, Zhang Boxun followed, and at the very back came a woman in a coat.
There was no doubt—that woman was Tang Siluo.
Had the two of them really decided to take Tang Siluo with them?
Actually, Zhang Boxun and Luo Feifan’s actions made some sense. After all, Tang Siluo had grown up in the same place as they had; even if they didn’t care about her, they had to consider the honor of the late Tang Jianjun. They couldn’t just leave Tang Siluo wandering outside. As long as she stopped acting recklessly, Zhang Boxun and Luo Feifan couldn’t ignore her.
An Ran blushed, heart pounding, and pushed Zhan Lian away. She happened to see Tang Siluo at the back reach out as if grabbing a lifeline and clutch Zhang Boxun’s arm.
He steadied his step, turned slightly, and with a casual motion eased Tang Siluo’s hands down. The three of them filed into the car one after another.
They drove off in tense silence; the mood was strange.
“Um—Zhang Boxun?” She stammered, clearly anxious.
Tang Siluo in the back seat seemed to sense Zhang Boxun’s anger toward her. She wrapped her coat tighter; her makeup had already been washed away, but traces of past passions still lingered in her expression—an unmistakable flirtatiousness around her eyes and mouth.
An Ran glanced in the rearview mirror at Tang Siluo.
Tang Siluo ignored her and focused all her attention on Zhang Boxun and her Brother Feifan, asking, “What about Lei Jiang’s body—can we just leave it? I’m afraid… Chen Chaofa will find out it was you.”
