Chapter 539: Will Fatty Go?
Chapter 539: Will Fatty Go?
“Yes, I can play with you all night!”
The tail, having retracted, slowly peeks out again.
An Ran turns to leave, but Zhan Lian steps forward, grabbing her waist. The tail rushes toward him, but he punches it aside, knocking it to the ground before it quickly retreats under the RV.
Wrapped in Zhan Lian’s arms, An Ran laughs. “Don’t be a scoundrel! You’re just like those men, trying to take advantage of me.”
“Not at all. I’m legal.” He reminds her, with a smile, that they aren’t officially divorced yet.
An Ran pats him lightly, and he smiles, carrying her into the RV.
Once inside, warmth envelops them, a comforting contrast to the freezing cold outside. The two giggle as they step in, and Zhan Lian sets An Ran down before walking over to a small table. He pours water from his thermos into a cup.
Zhao Ru, bundled like a bear, steps forward and asks, “What’s the situation over there?”
This is exactly what An Ran wants to know, so she, like Zhao Ru, stares at Zhan Lian, waiting for his report.
He raises his head, drinks half a glass, and then speaks: “That is indeed a large survivor gathering, comparable to the one Tang Jianjun set up. I didn’t go inside to see the details—I feared leaving you all here would be unsafe. As I thought, the moment I left, some men started getting restless.”
The survivor team at the tunnel’s far end is substantial, with high walls surrounding it, suggesting the presence of many earth-type ability users. Observing from the hill with infrared binoculars, Zhan Lian sees mostly normal activity—nothing horrific. But the finer details will require careful, extended observation, so he leaves Luo Feifan, a fire-type ability user, to continue monitoring.
“If this survivor team is capable, will Fatty go? With his team… would they accept them?”
An Ran, having traveled with Fatty for so long, has developed a certain fondness for him. Despite his unorthodox ways, compared to many survivor teams in the apocalypse, Fatty is responsible. At least, he has never abandoned anyone, even in such harsh conditions. Naturally, An Ran hopes Fatty can lead his team to a secure place.
Yet Fatty’s cunning, slippery nature is infuriating!
Zhao Ru comments, “If Fatty is willing to offer enough incentives to interest the other party, any survivor group would accept them.”
An Ran glances back at her, smiling. “Do you think he can? Even now, we still don’t know how many metal, wood, water, fire, and earth element users are hidden among his elderly, weak, and sick children.”
To earn An Ran’s trust initially, Fatty had shown her about a hundred people, pointing out who had water or wood abilities.
But just a few days later, different women come out to use water abilities—faces constantly changing, impossible to memorize. Today, while digging the tunnel, he brings out ten or so novice earth-element users at once—people she has never encountered before.
