Chapter 540: Bite Me If You Dare
Chapter 540: Bite Me If You Dare
Having Fatty demonstrate the value of his team so the other party would accept this “burden” seemed difficult. It was better to follow normal procedures.
As they were discussing, a commotion erupted outside.
An Ran and Zhan Lian exchanged glances. Zhao Ru sat up from the sofa, and Little Mint instinctively shielded Doll and Heng Heng, her eyes sharp with vigilance.
Outside, Liang Ziyu and Wang Wei were restraining Liu Dong. He had brought ten ability users with him, demanding the safe return of his driver.
Fatty, flustered, hurried out of the tunnel into the crowd, shouting, “What are you yelling about?! Can’t you see it’s getting dark? You’re disturbing people’s sleep!”
Liu Dong turned, eyes wild, and yelled back at Fatty, his face flushed with anger. “Why should I sleep? My second brother—is he dead or alive? He’s gone, and there’s no body. How can I sleep?”
So that driver was supposedly Liu Dong’s second brother. Whether that was true or just an excuse to stir trouble, An Ran inside the car already understood the situation.
Seeing Zhan Lian step out, she followed him.
Wang Wei, blocking Liu Dong, joked, “We already told you, we haven’t seen your second brother. Why are you searching our car?”
“Stop pretending!” Liu Dong angrily jabbed a finger at Wang Wei’s nose, his entire body trembling with rage. “Everyone saw it! My second brother came looking for that stinking bitch An Ran and got dragged back alive!”
When An Ran followed Zhan Lian outside, Liu Dong lost control and rushed forward to punch her. But he hadn’t noticed Zhan Lian standing directly in front of her. His fist was caught by Zhan Lian, leaving him stunned. Only then did he realize who was blocking him.
Zhan Lian had been dressing like a nerd for some time. His sharp military uniform was ill-suited for the cold, so he wore a bulky black down jacket—typical middle-aged style. Limited resources meant all proper military coats were already worn by Fatty’s men.
Though his rugged, handsome features gave the impression of a tough, unassuming expert, Liu Dong didn’t take him seriously. Strength users at a certain level weren’t afraid of metal-type ability users. Liu Dong could tear one apart single-handedly.
“You’re that bitch’s ex-husband?” Liu Dong glared at Zhan Lian, furious. “Fine, I’ll deal with you too. Where’s my second brother?”
“Dead.” Zhan Lian curled his lips, arrogance etched into his sharp features. He casually pulled a betel nut from his pocket and chewed it. “I killed him. Got a problem with that? Bite me if you dare!”
“You’re asking for death! What did my second brother do to you? I didn’t even touch you!”
Liu Dong, eyes red with fury, had never faced such an arrogant man. He lunged forward to strangle Zhan Lian, but Zhan Lian twisted his neck, spinning his head under Liu Dong’s grip. Then he delivered a precise punch, sending Liu Dong flying.
“I just killed him—why all the nonsense?” Zhan Lian chuckled and leaped forward, landing beside him.
Liu Dong collapsed onto the snow, coughing violently. After only a few coughs, he began to spit blood.
