Chapter 538: Die So Quickly
Chapter 538: Die So Quickly
“While I play with you, tell me—do you have any reason I should let you go?”
An Ran tilts her head, emulating the villains she has seen in stories—nagging their victims for a long time before delivering the final blow. Perhaps there will be a twist at the end.
But before these men can defend themselves or show any shred of humanity, An Ran shakes her head. There is no reason to let them live.
How bad can human nature be? When laws and institutions vanish, true human nature surfaces. It isn’t that there are no bright spots in humanity—but An Ran sees none in these men.
If she were just an ordinary woman today, whether she accepted their crystal cores or not, the outcome would be the same. Consent or force, it wouldn’t matter. And it isn’t just her—ambition and malice radiate from their eyes, from the entire group of men.
Eliminating them before they commit more heinous acts is An Ran’s way of protecting the innocent around them.
The man whose neck is ensnared by her “fox tail” struggles, swelling with panic. He grabs the tail with both hands, his throat gurgling indistinctly. Those around him freeze in shock.
Before anyone can react, the man is sucked dry.
Another screams wildly. Before he can run far, the fox tail swings again, sucking each of them one by one, reducing them to nothing but human flesh.
Liu Dong’s driver runs toward the front, but something white catches under his feet. He trips and is silently dragged back.
“Died so quickly!” Zhao Ru pokes her head out of the RV window, shivering. She looks at the dried bodies scattered on the snow and frowns. “Your fat thorn ball… it’s getting more and more terrifying. Are you sure it’s a cactus?”
The fox tail retreats slowly, sliding under the RV. The ball at its base is enormous, too large to move elsewhere.
The long tail has evolved from the flower branch that bore the fat thorn ball. Each hair on the branch is a thorn—dense, thick, and individually rooted, and unimaginably hard. If it pierces ordinary iron, it turns it into a sieve in minutes.
But An Ran has always let it feed on underground creatures, not humans. No one has seen its true danger until now.
Zhao Ru, Yun Tao, Liang Ziyu, Wang Wei, and Zhan Lian all stare, stunned. They have only ever seen An Ran use her powers on mutated animals. Witnessing her plants consume humans is unprecedented.
Luckily, I’ve never messed with this woman before…
An Ran tilts her head, mimicking Zhao Ru’s raised eyebrows, but says nothing.
Zhan Lian approaches, grinning, striding over with long, confident steps. A playful expression graces his face as he stops in front of An Ran. “Beautiful girl, you’re getting better and better. Want a date tonight?”
