Chapter 519: The Water Zombies Are Here
Chapter 519: The Water Zombies Are Here
Lei Jiang, a smile plastered across his face, gestured for Tang Siluo to keep quiet. He leaned down and whispered, “Luoluo, you’re still dressed. Don’t shout. Do you want your father’s men to see us like this?”
“What did you do? What did you do?” Tang Siluo muttered, her face pale.
How could she have slept with Lei Jiang? How could she have possibly done that?
Lei Jiang reached out, brushed his fingers over her bare shoulder, and smiled. “What did I do, Luoluo? I thought, since you didn’t refuse, you agreed.”
“No, no, no… I didn’t agree. I didn’t…”
“No?”
Seeing Tang Siluo’s face so bloodless she looked like she might collapse, Lei Jiang didn’t push her to admit anything. Instead, with a faint air of pride, he stood, pulled on his shorts, and went to open the door.
Even under the haze of drugs, Tang Siluo had been aware of everything he’d done to her — she’d reacted to his every touch. The truth was, she hadn’t resisted. But why hadn’t she?
At the door, a soldier on guard reported, “Mr. Lei, a group of people just arrived in the rain.”
Tang Siluo, still sitting naked on the bed, trembled and wrapped her arms around herself. Hearing this, she lifted her red, swollen eyes toward Lei Jiang, hope and anger tangled in her gaze.
“Is Zhang Boxun chasing us again? Why did he come so late? I want to see him. I want to see him.” She was even a little glad — glad that Zhang Boxun was still alive, still able to come after her.
The thought of what had happened between her and Lei Jiang left her feeling ruined. She wanted nothing more than for Zhang Boxun to take her away. She didn’t want to see Lei Jiang at all right now.
The soldier shook his head. “No, they don’t look like soldiers.”
Watching Lei Jiang stand there in nothing but his underwear to open the door — while Miss Tang remained inside, speaking but unseen — the soldier suddenly understood.
It all made sense. Lei Jiang had always behaved as if he and Tang Siluo were close, but everyone knew Miss Tang’s heart leaned toward Luo Feifan. There was also Zhang Boxun, her childhood sweetheart, who had been pursuing her for years. No one had thought Lei Jiang and Tang Siluo were truly together.
But what the soldier saw today confirmed it — Lei Jiang’s position was now official.
Did this mean that from now on, Lei Jiang could give orders directly to Tang Jianjun’s men?
Lei Jiang caught the strange look on the soldier’s face. Without a word, he turned and walked to the bedroom window. Outside, the wind and rain howled, the sky as dark as midnight. Through the downpour, figures moved at the far end of a small street in town. They carried no umbrellas, and even with his sharp eyesight, Lei Jiang couldn’t see their faces clearly.
“Who are these people?” he muttered. Then a sudden realization struck him. “They don’t look human!”
At the same time, in the dilapidated temple, An Ran jumped down from the back of the car and called to Zhao Ru, who was warming herself by the fire.
“The water zombies are coming.”
A flash of lightning split the sky, followed by a deafening crack of thunder. Zhao Ru sprang to her feet and ran to the temple window.
Under the pitch-black sky, a long line of figures trudged forward through the rain.
She shook her head in disbelief. “Oh no! It’s raining! What’s going on? Why are there water zombies here?”
