Chapter 477: Flying Saucer
Chapter 477: Flying Saucer
Fatty freezes in place. The stone that’s supposed to hit him curves mid-air and strikes the wall beside him instead.
An Ran sees this and immediately thinks—Hah, something’s off here!
She picks up another stone and hurls it. Fatty remains where he is, a pitiful expression on his face. None of the stones hit—he’s too afraid of pain.
“What’s your deal?”
An Ran steps forward, draws a knife from her waist, and points it at Fatty. Her vines move first, slithering like snakes toward his feet.
Threatened by both the knife and the plants, Fatty drops to his knees with a loud thump, pleading, “Lady, spare me! Lady, please! My underlings didn’t know you were the captain’s ex-wife and tried to rope you into our gang. Please forgive us!”
“What the hell are you talking about?” An Ran kicks him hard. “Get up and explain yourself.”
Fatty clambers to his feet, stammering, “It’s like this, Lady An. I... I founded a beggar gang. Yes, I’m a scumbag. Yes, I’m shameless. I used old people and children to make money. But I don’t deserve to die. More to the point—even if I’m a bastard, my subordinates were the ones who had the crazy idea of trying to recruit you into our criminal underworld. Those subordinates aren’t important. I’ve already killed them all after a sudden attack of conscience. Heroine An, please have mercy. I swear I’ve turned over a new leaf. Really.”
“You’re saying those people who tried to snatch my child back then were yours?” Under the night sky, An Ran squints at him, knife still raised. “So I blamed Lei Jiang for nothing?! And after failing the first time, when copper-skinned zombies came after us, you tried again?!”
It was a dangerous moment. If not for her hidden cards, she and Doll would’ve been finished.
Fatty shakes his head so hard the fat on his cheeks jiggles. “No, no, no! Just once! We only dared to rob you once! Lao San had his arm chopped off by you—we knew better than to mess with you again!”
“Didn’t you just say you killed all your subordinates?” An Ran gives him a sideways glare.
Fatty laughs awkwardly, then points behind her and suddenly shouts, “Lady! A flying saucer!”
His shout is so loud and convincing that An Ran instinctively turns to look—and Fatty uses the chance to flee.
His escape isn’t fast, more of a waddle than a run, but An Ran can’t help but chuckle through her irritation. Honestly, she could catch him right then.
But she spots Zhan Lian and Luo Feifan returning, and Fatty instantly slips from her mind.
She crosses the gravel road. Luo Feifan goes to speak with the survivors while An Ran walks up to Zhan Lian, who casually puts an arm around her and guides her back to their room.
Behind them, she can hear Luo Feifan telling the survivors that the supplies have been returned under Zhang Boxun’s suggestion. Everyone should line up calmly to receive them—no fighting. Zhang Boxun will send people to distribute dinner.
