Chapter 460: It Is a Mutant Vine
Chapter 460: It Is a Mutant Vine
It is a mutant vine—and it seems to be a higher level than the fat thorn ball. With just a touch of An Ran’s energy, it breaks out of its shell and responds joyfully to her excitement. To put it simply, it’s just like the fat thorn ball: a good baby, obedient and not rebellious.
An Ran continues feeding energy into the green light in her hands. As the glowing orb grows larger, she has to hold it with both hands. Inside the light, the vine keeps expanding, climbing along the ceiling toward the second floor.
It blooms there—bright red petals layered in full bloom, scarlet stamens bursting from its center. It grows forward eagerly, climbing over its own kind in search of food downstairs.
Apparently, it does not eat its own kind. Even though those vines are “bad,” they all share a common origin. Why fight among themselves? How could An Ran’s good vine bear to harm its relatives?
Its target is clear: Zhang Boxun and Axe, standing outside the bridal shop.
But halfway through its growth, it pauses. An Ran feeds it a bit more energy and it resumes slowly. She shouts,
“Hurry! I need soil and water!”
Zhan Lian rushes downstairs and opens the sealed wall. He expects an ambush by mutant vines, but instead, he sees Zhang Boxun and Axe standing there. The vines outside have been temporarily held back by Zhang Boxun.
Zhan Lian spares Zhang Boxun a glance and walks out with Luo Feifan to handle the incoming vines. An Ran runs outside, holding the glowing vine in her hands, its base already thick as her arm. Zhao Ru and Liang Ziyu rush to help her. They break the tiles at the shop’s entrance and dig a pit for An Ran to plant the vine.
Since Zhang Boxun and Axe haven’t left, Little Mint, Hengheng , and Yun Tao automatically gather around the SUV to guard Doll.
Their teamwork is becoming increasingly in sync.
Before long, the glowing vine is buried and covered with soil. An Ran stands up and closes her eyes. At her feet, the fat thorn ball rolls anxiously. It seems to want a patch of soil too—but the mutant vines are too aggressive, and the thorn ball is a little scared.
An Ran’s face is calm, but her mind is racing. The new vine takes root in the soil and starts to develop rapidly. Thin white roots extend through the dirt, and wherever they go, An Ran can see—her “eyes” following them.
She watches the roots, as fine as hair, growing little by little as they absorb nutrients and feed on mutant creatures underground.
Zhao Ru pours water over the fresh soil. A wave of water flows down, but it’s quickly absorbed, and the soil dries up again. Anxious, she pours another wave, but the roots are still thirsty.
“An Ran,” Zhao Ru says, glancing at her, unsure if it’s enough.
An Ran shakes her head, eyes still closed. “Keep watering. Just think of it as training your ability.”
No one really knows what will grow in the end. But it can’t be worse than what they’re facing now.
Zhao Ru obeys. She pushes her hands forward, takes a deep breath, and a powerful wave gushes from her palms, swirling around the thick vine and diving into the soil.
