Chapter 461: This Bad Girl
Chapter 461: This Bad Girl
The mutant vines keep growing. Underground, their roots become so thick that they break through to the surface, sprouting second and third shoots. These new vines twist and turn, following An Ran’s commands. They surround the bridal shop, push aside their kind, and claim their territory.
While mutant vines may not devour their own kind, they can still drive them off. Under An Ran’s direction, they occupy the best ground, forcing other vines to retreat for lack of space.
The world of mutant plants is beyond ordinary comprehension. An Ran has only cracked the door open—and seen a glimpse of the void.
There are many hostile vines underground. But plants need soil, sunlight, and water to grow. An Ran’s “good” vines have Zhao Ru’s water and thus develop much faster. If they had flesh and blood too, would they grow even stronger?
An Ran turns her gaze toward Zhang Boxun and Axe. A green light flashes in her eyes—but then she quickly looks away. Zhang Boxun isn’t edible, and Axe lacks a conscience but doesn’t deserve to die.
Because of that brief thought, the vines tremble. Blood-red flowers sway in the air—but though they’ve grown long enough to attack, they hold back. Instead of going after Zhang Boxun and Axe, they burrow deep, hunting mutant creatures beneath the ground. It's better than nothing.
Soon, Zhan Lian notices that the wall around the bridal shop has been overtaken by An Ran’s vines. He relaxes and forges three large machetes—each two meters long and a foot thick. The blades spin in midair like a rectangular juicer.
Seeing this, Zhang Boxun imitates the design and crafts a smaller version. He charges forward with it, shredding incoming mutant vines into pieces. Red and green sap splashes across the ground, soaking into the soil.
Little Mint runs out again, holding two green crystal cores. She hands them to An Ran.
Zhao Ru, still channeling water, sighs when she sees this. She looks at An Ran with mild resentment— “One mutant vine was already too much. Now there are two more!”
“Thank you for your hard work.” An Ran pats Little Mint’s head, then pulls Liang Ziyu over. Together, they pry up two more floor tiles and plant the new crystal cores.
An Ran can now feel more control over the environment. She realizes that these green crystal cores are rare—each one is a flower bulb. A single flower bulb can produce many vines that stretch in all directions.
So even though the mutant vines look massive and countless, they all trace back to one underground flower bulb.
Does every mutant plant have such a crystal core?
Unconsciously, An Ran glances at the fat thorn ball at her feet.
As if sensing her intention, the fat thorn ball quivers with rage—its thorns bristling. It had already given up its land for An Ran, and now she was eyeing its core? What a heartless woman!
Just a passing thought.
An Ran smiles, sensing the thorn ball’s indignation. She sends it a bit of energy like a parent soothing a child, calming its wounded little heart—and letting go of the thought of dissecting it.
After all, the spiky ball at her feet isn’t the same one she planted outside Tiesi Village—it’s not that same prickly sprout from before.
