Chapter 458: Pulling Carrots
Chapter 458: Pulling Carrots
“Move the car!”
An Ran shouts, commanding the fat thorn ball beneath her to charge forward. But it’s useless. Both the thorn ball and the vine are plants. While the thorn ball can pierce the vine’s surface and absorb moisture, the vine’s internal supply is endless.
It can’t do real damage.
Liang Ziyu shoves the SUV—with Doll inside—toward the wall, away from the flailing vine.
Zhan Lian dashes down from the second floor and slashes at the vine, cutting it in half. But the vine doesn’t die.
Liang Ziyu moves to push the SUV again. Zhao Ru and An Ran back away. Inside the car, Doll, oblivious to the chaos, still sleeps soundly.
Amid Xu Lier’s screams, the center of the shop clears. An Ran suddenly shouts, “Its roots are underground! We have to kill the roots!”
Wildfire may be hard to extinguish, but it can’t regrow without roots. To kill weeds, pull the root—pull the root!
“How do we kill the root?”
Zhan Lian cuts down another vine and looks to An Ran.
She thinks for a moment, then pushes Liang Ziyu. “You and Brother Tao—pull it out!”
“Huh?” Liang Ziyu stares at her, dumbfounded.
Zhao Ru’s eyes narrow as she snaps, “Go!”
Liang Ziyu reluctantly calls for Yun Tao. Yun Tao comes downstairs, leaving Luo Feifan to defend the upper floor alone.
An Ran shouts again, “Wrap the vines in metal, Zhan Lian! That’ll help them pull!”
“Got it!”
Zhan Lian embraces the thick vine and encases it in a metalen layer of metal. Yun Tao and Liang Ziyu are strong, but they’re still human. Without protection, they’ll be devoured before they manage to yank it out.
Zhan Lian leads at the front, pinning the writhing vine under his arm. Yun Tao follows, then Liang Ziyu. The three men shout as they pull together—pull out the radish, pull out the radish, pull out the radish!
After a while, they yank out many vines. Zhan Lian slashes as he pulls, slicing them off section by section.
Finally, one vine refuses to budge. The floor swells—about a meter square—where the roots have anchored themselves.
Yun Tao and Liang Ziyu brace themselves and give everything they’ve got, faces flushed red.
With three loud crashes—bang, bang, bang—all three of them fall to the ground.
When everyone looks, something has been pulled out—but it isn’t a radish. It’s a massive lily bulb!
Or at least it looks like a lily bulb—mutated, with countless torn vines flailing like giant earthworms.
“Burn it!” An Ran shouts as she sees new root filaments sprouting from the bulb’s base.
