Chapter 352: You and Your Ex-Husband
Chapter 352: You and Your Ex-Husband
“Thank you.”
An Ran thanks him, picks up the small pot filled with water, tiptoes out of the ward, places it on the table, and is about to go back for the stove and noodles when Zhan Lian grabs her arm.
She turns around, confused.
Zhan Lian purses his lips and then lets go. “Forget it, you’re busy.”
After saying that, he turns and goes down the stairs to kill mice and dig crystal cores outside.
In the dark corridor, Zhao Ru finishes writing the medical records and walks toward An Ran. While helping with the food, she smiles and says, “You and your ex-husband are quite interesting. If I were you, I wouldn’t be so polite to him.”
An Ran says nothing, lowers her head, and silently takes out the box Zhan Lian placed in the ward. She unpacks it, takes out a stack of disposable paper bowls, lays them out one by one on the table, and says to Zhao Ru, “Put more—one bowl for each person. It’s not easy; they must be hungry after a busy day.”
“Let’s not do it. We don’t need to eat.” Zhao Ru raises her eyebrows, unpacks a bag of noodles, glances at the bag of crystal cores Zhan Lian gave An Ran, then raises her eyebrows again and says, “I’ll exchange some crystal cores with you for water to save food for the others.”
“That’s not my crystal core. If you want to exchange it, talk to Zhan Lian.” An Ran purses her lips, realizing from Zhao Ru’s words that wood and water-element users really don’t need to eat—they can just absorb crystal cores.
“Tsk tsk, you and your ex-husband have too many loopholes to exploit.” Zhao Ru looks at An Ran with slight annoyance. “If I were you, I’d quickly hold on to my ex-husband’s thigh. Such a strong thigh—don’t know why you’re so polite.”
“What do you care about me?!” An Ran rolls her eyes at Zhao Ru.
The issues between her and Zhan Lian are not something Zhao Ru, with her high-level thinking, can understand. It’s awkward. Everyone has been through so much in the end times. They haven’t lived and died together or shared hardships. Do they have to get along just like before the end times? That would be too awkward.
While they talk, the noodles are ready.
Zhao Ru takes some to Zhao Qianrong’s side. An Ran makes a bowl for Hengheng and asks him to eat first. Then she looks at Little Mint, who has woken up.
“Want to eat something? I’ll make you a bowl of noodle soup first to moisten your stomach, then some noodles.” An Ran lies on the head of Little Mint’s bed, reaches out, and touches the hair on his cheek, her eyes full of pity. Seeing Little Mint’s face pale as paper and his head shaking, An Ran says softly, “Eat something, no matter how little. Only when you’re full will we have the strength to rise from the ashes.”
“Sister, I miss my mother.” Little Mint’s voice is thin, tears gathering in his eyes.
An Ran sniffs, leans down, and hugs him. “She’s thinking about you too, wanting you to live well and not joke with your body.”
“Really?”
“Really.” An Ran wipes the tears on the pillow, straightens up, takes a deep breath, and looks at Little Mint again. “Okay, don’t cry. I’ll go get some noodle soup.”
After that, An Ran goes out and makes a bowl of noodle soup for Little Mint. While she feeds him, Zhao Ru comes over, gives Little Mint an injection, and hands An Ran several boxes of blood-replenishing medicine for him to take.
Suddenly, shouting comes from the hall outside the hospital, followed by a panicked voice. Zhao Ru immediately turns and runs out of the room.
