Chapter 228: Inspiration Comes from Life
Chapter 228: Inspiration Comes from Life
Anran focuses on sweeping up baby supplies. She notices that as long as she absorbs enough crystal cores, she doesn’t seem to need food as much. Because of this, she pays little attention to collecting food for herself.
Instead, she prioritizes diapers, baby wipes, and other essentials. She also grabs all the cod liver oil, calcium, iron, zinc supplements, and baby mineral water available in the maternity store.
As for items that won’t be needed immediately, like toys and baby food, she leaves them behind. She lives day by day—if she needs them later, she can always search for more. After all, zombies don’t care for baby supplies.
After filling her canvas bags with everything she can carry, Anran searches for a baby waist stool in the store. However, after reading the instructions, she realizes that these are not suitable for two-month-old babies, as they shouldn’t be sitting for long periods.
A baby sling would be much more appropriate.
So, she gathers all the different styles of baby slings in the store—around a dozen in total—packing them into a large bag so she can swap them out when they get dirty.
In addition, she breaks into a bookstore on the second floor and finds a few parenting books, which she stuffs into her bag. She plans to read them whenever she has spare time.
After securing several large bags of supplies, Anran carries Doll out toward Gate No. 3 on the second floor.
By now, the sky is growing dark.
Yun Tao crouches beside Hengheng, carefully observing the terrain outside the third building.
There is only one escalator leading down, but across from them, in the leisure and entertainment complex, there is also a staircase.
The escalator leads straight to the shopping mall’s main entrance, which faces a large square packed with countless zombies howling and wandering aimlessly.
Meanwhile, the staircase leads to the back of the mall.
The rear area has some small shops and a relatively narrow street, also swarming with zombies. However, both sides of the street are lined with parked cars.
Hengheng’s eyes are red, and he stands on tiptoe, pressing his hands against the glass railing, staring at the back of the mall.
Yun Tao, still squatting, glances up and sees Anran stepping out with Doll in her arms. He waves her over and motions for her to crouch down.
Anran does as she is told, squatting beside him.
Pointing at a Volkswagen SUV parked on the street behind the mall, Yun Tao says, “That car is big—just right for all of us. If you can clear a path, I’ll go over and start it.”
“No problem.”
Anran takes a quick look at the white SUV. It is spacious, but compared to her ex-husband’s car, it lacks that domineering aura.
Still crouching, Anran asks, “Once we get in the car, won’t there be too many zombies chasing us? Even if we manage to drive out of here, we won’t be able to shake them off.”
“That’s possible.”
“Then I have an idea.”
Her eyes light up as she points at an olfactory zombie sniffing around the escalator.
“If we catch a few zombies like that, tie some used diapers over their heads, and release them, they’ll attract a large portion of the horde for us.”
“Good idea! We can also—well, pee more in the diapers.”
Inspiration comes from life.
Many great inventions are born from the minds of mothers raising children. Yun Tao sees nothing strange about the idea. Without hesitation, he jumps down the escalator, grabs the olfactory zombie, and deals with it.
He then proceeds to eliminate every zombie lingering around the escalator.
