After getting the dog-leg knife, Yun Tao quickly approaches Doll’s stroller, checks on Doll, and then heads to the gate to continue dealing with the zombies.
As for Liu Yuan, she waits until Yun Tao leaves before rushing over to Anran. She helps the dazed woman up from the grass, wipes the blood from her mouth, and says with a concerned look, “Don’t talk back to Brother Tao. He seems indifferent to everything, but he absolutely hates being contradicted. Look, you’re fine now, so why did you hit him? Does it hurt?”
Liu Yuan looks at Anran. Where is she fat? She can’t understand what Yun Tao dislikes about her. Anran is a pretty woman—so why did he call her fat?
“It doesn’t hurt,” Anran replies.
She was nearly knocked out by Yun Tao’s punch and had originally wanted to say that sooner or later, she would get her revenge on him. But after some thought, she realizes she isn’t capable of that anytime soon, so she swallows her words.
Shaking her dizzy head, Anran starts to feel more awake. The clothes that had felt tight earlier now fit more comfortably. She quickly stands up and makes her way toward the stroller. However, after just a few steps, she loses her balance and falls again.
“Are you okay?” Liu Yuan hurries over to help her once more. “Do you want something to eat? Do you have enough supplies at home?”
In the past few days, Liu Yuan hasn’t paid much attention to whether Anran is eating enough. She also hasn’t brought her any supplies, knowing that Anran has plenty of food—supplies the two of them had taken from the security room a few days ago. Liu Yuan had estimated that the stash would last Anran at least a week. But she has no idea that Anran nearly ate it all in just one night.
Anran doesn’t explain—she simply shakes her head, signaling that she isn’t hungry and doesn’t need to eat.
It’s true. Anran is still uncomfortably full. Earlier, she had felt like she was about to burst, but after feeding Doll and dealing with Yun Tao, the pressure in her stomach has eased. Even so, she has no desire to eat anything.
By the time she stands up again, her headache has improved significantly. She declines Liu Yuan’s offer to stay and pushes the stroller toward the community gate.
When she arrives, the zombies from the night before have already been cleaned up. The five survivors in the community had worked before dawn to clear the area. Anran doesn’t know how they disposed of the bodies, but the gate looks spotless—there’s no trace of the hellish scene from yesterday.
Yun Tao, leading a group of zombies into the community, glances at Anran and frowns. Strange. Earlier, she had looked fat, but now she seems as thin as the day before.
He doesn’t ask about it. Instead, he turns back to his work, continuing to hunt zombies. Anran doesn’t concern him—his only focus these past few days has been Doll.
As for Anran, she takes a deep breath and pointedly ignores Yun Tao. He clearly isn’t interested in her, so she won’t waste her time on him. The last thing she needs is to argue with him in front of the zombies, giving them something to laugh at.
Instead, she pushes the stroller into the corridor, stands beside it, and tries to calm herself. Observing the situation at the gate, she draws the knife from her waist and carefully cuts out the crystal core from the head of a dead zombie lying on the ground.
