Chapter 11
Chapter 11
First Ranked Game
I had played countless normal games just to reach this point.
Because of that, I had learned quite a lot about this game.
How to win.
What kind of decisions to make.
But right now, only one thing mattered.
“Which lane should I go?”
It’s a five-player game.
That means choosing one of five positions.
From what I’d heard, once you pick a role, you tend to stick with it.
Like choosing your starter Pokémon.
It felt strangely nerve-wracking.
Which one should I pick?
Chat immediately reacted:
“Just go wherever you want”
“Top is easiest to learn”
“Support is safest for beginners”
“…Hmm.”
Just as I was thinking—
Buzz.
A message from Yeram.
Since I was streaming, she texted instead of speaking.
[Go top]
[Top is the most fun]
She strongly recommended it.
And chat was saying the same.
Thinking about it—
top lane did seem the most independent.
“Alright, I’ll go top.”
Chat approved:
“Good choice”
“Top is the most fun”
“Another top addict is born lol”
I didn’t understand why they were reacting like that.
It’s just a game.
You play to enjoy it, not to get angry.
“Let’s queue.”
I started matchmaking.
I wondered how far I could climb.
Even reaching Gold would be satisfying.
Then—
Ding!
Match found.
I accepted.
Soon, the screen changed—
and lanes were assigned.
Top lane.
“Nice… this is going to be fun.”
I was genuinely excited.
Then—
A message appeared.
“Top, can you swap?”
“I can carry if you give me top”
“…What?”
This was new.
In normal games, lanes were basically first-come, first-served.
“Should I swap?”
Chat reacted immediately:
“Don’t swap”
“Never swap”
“If you lose, you’ll feel worse”
So I replied politely:
“Sorry, I think I’ll stay top”
That should’ve been enough.
But then—
“Okay fine”
“Let’s go double top”
“…Double top?”
I didn’t even know what that meant.
Chat explained:
“That means two people go top”
“It’s trolling”
“…Seriously?”
I checked—
the player asking to swap was support.
“…Then I’ll just go support.”
I wanted to play top—
but not like that.
Support was fine too.
Chat reacted:
“You’re actually giving it up?”
“That just encourages trolls”
“Report after the game”
I didn’t really understand people like that.
Why not just play your assigned role?
Still, I typed:
“I’ll go support instead. You take top.”
Trying to keep things calm.
Then—
“Should’ve swapped earlier lol”
“Scared so you gave it up?”
“…What is wrong with this person?”
I helped them—
and they acted like that?
Unbelievable.
I sighed and moved on.
“Alright… what champion should I pick?”
I had some support experience—
but still hesitated.
Chat started suggesting:
“Play Nautilus”
“Tank support is safest”
“Shaco support is fun lol”
So many options.
“…Hmm.”
After thinking—
I picked something that looked fun.
Then—
Game start.
“…I’m nervous.”
My heart was racing.
It had been a while since I felt like this.
I checked my champion’s skills.
Chat immediately reacted:
“You picked THAT for your first ranked?”
“Support Salus???”
“That’s insane lol”
Apparently, it was an unusual choice.
Still—
the character looked good.
Literally.
‘This game is nice.’
Very nice.
Compared to earlier chaos—
in-game chat was quiet.
Probably because everyone realized top was… questionable.
“Alright… let’s try this.”
I wasn’t great at support.
But I wanted to win my first ranked game.
No special reason—
just didn’t want to lose the first one.
“Let’s go.”
Somehow, it would work out.
