Deserted Island Forest 2
Liria entered the sea holding a harpoon and noticed new buttons appearing around the fish.
Salion aimed carefully at the fish, filled the gauge to the maximum, and hurled the harpoon.
Seeing the fish impaled on the harpoon, Salion was thrilled and reached for it, but the gauge above his head emptied and he had no choice but to surface in a hurry.
After catching his breath outside the sea and diving back in, the harpoon had vanished.
After some effort he managed to recover the harpoon with the fish still attached from the bottom.
He realized that when hunting in the sea one must make good use of the stamina gauge.
He had been thinking too much about himself, which was why the hunt had gone poorly, and he was gradually growing accustomed to the character’s physical abilities.
Health increased by 1.
“Oh.”
After swimming and hunting in the sea for a long time, Salion could confirm that his health stat had risen.
Seeing his stats improve through all that effort, he could not hide his joy.
Elia was busy roaming the island, gathering fruits and vegetables, while Silvia had not yet prepared drinking water.
No matter how far they searched the deserted island, no water source appeared.
“Water source not visible.”
“Fruits up there. Silvia sister.”
“Huh?”
Silvia heard Liria’s words and spotted round fruits hanging from the branches above.
They were the coconut fruits commonly seen on Earth.
But humans without mana could not climb, so they could not reach the palm fruits.
Disappointed, Silvia approached the palm tree to shake it and discovered two buttons had appeared.
One was a palm-shaped button right in front of the character’s line of sight, and the other was an upward arrow button at head height.
Silvia quickly understood.
The palm button meant to shake the tree, the arrow meant to climb it.
With human strength she could never shake the fruit down, so she decided to climb.
Pressing the upward arrow, the character assumed a climbing pose and the gauge above swayed back and forth.
Silvia noticed the gauge had its thinnest section in the center and realized she had to match that spot to climb.
By timing the button press to the center she saw “PERFECT” flash, and success made the speed increase gradually.
After completing every PERFECT, Silvia saw her character arrive at the fruit.
She reached for it, but a new gauge appeared.
This one tilted slowly toward one side unless the direction keys were pressed, so Silvia balanced carefully with the direction keys.
She turned the character toward the fruit and pressed the button.
In front of the fruit, arrows for north, south, east, and west appeared, and she realized the button was pressed when all arrows were filled.
Timing was easy for Silvia.
After easily picking the fruit she slowly descended the tree.
She was overjoyed to have completed the mission just like everyone else.
Liria’s tree wood, Salion’s fish, Elia’s fruits and vegetables, Silvia’s coconuts—each had successfully finished their assigned task.
“Games like this are fun.”
“Hehe. Even better with you.”
“I caught fish.”
“Coconuts? I got a whole bunch.”
Liria saw that the hunger and thirst gauges of her character and the others had decreased.
The fatigue gauge remained, and she planned to resume work after eating.
Knowing the deserted island would grow cold at night, she realized the temperature gauge could also drop.
Hygiene had to be considered too, so there were many worries.
“What next?”
“Have my daughter give instructions.”
“Yes, Mom. Next, let’s all eat together.”
Liria took the flint from her bag and kindled a campfire with the provided leaves and wood.
It was an item perfect for a survival expert.
There was also a good pot for survival.
Because the game had realistic elements, she could not read the detailed information on the fruits and vegetables Elia had gathered.
Only the edibility percentage was shown, and Liria knew Elia’s fruits and vegetables were 99% edible.
The survival expert character knew plants and animals well.
They looked similar to Earth’s, so the poison status seemed checkable.
Because it was a different world, it was 99% not 100%.
“Wow, all are edible.”
“The medical character can tell which are poisonous.”
The medical character, being knowledgeable, knew the edibility of each plant and animal.
Hunters had no such knowledge, so some fish were 0% edible.
They looked puffed up as if angry.
“Is there poison in this?”
“Poison? Humans are weak; we can die from eating poison too.”
“Throw away all the poisonous ones.”
Silvia handed the fish Liria and Elia had marked poisonous to Salion, who had no choice but to toss them all into the sea.
After distinguishing the poison, Liria approached each fruit and vegetable and a taste button appeared.
But the ingredients had low hygiene, so washing was necessary.
“Shouldn’t we wash this with sea water?”
“Sea water makes vegetables salty, not good at all.”
“Humans really are weak.”
“Because the character is from Earth.”
“Still, there’s only sea water around. Wouldn’t it be better not to wash?”
“Yes.”
They decided to wash with sea water and had Salion do it.
Liria skewered the fish with the wooden skewer she had made and planned to roast it over the fire.
Liria checked the fruits and vegetables Salion had washed and noticed slight salt remained.
Still, she thought it was fine for eating, so she pressed the taste button she had seen earlier.
They were fruits and vegetables similar to Earth but strangely different.
Pressing the taste button brought evaluations for each food.
Strawberry: Strong sour taste, little sweetness
Orange: Very strong sour taste, almost no sweetness
Cherry: Strong sour and astringent, little sweetness
Banana: Astringent and sour
Kale: Taste similar to kale
For green vegetables the taste was similar to Earth, but fruits were mostly rated as tasteless.
Looking at the evaluations, they seemed like wild fruits before any breeding.
She wondered if the game developers had considered such details.
She also bit into the roasted fish and received the taste evaluation.
The fish here were said to taste similar to Earth’s fish.
Unlike fruits, being fish they did not suffer in flavor.
“Oh, hunger and thirst gauges are full.”
“Daughter, what next?”
“Liria, give instructions.”
“Next, let’s build a house.”
“Then the architect among us should be the center.”
Because there was an architect in the party, Silvia had to take the lead this time.
Silvia had no knowledge of architecture, but the character being an architect let her know the method.
First she had to choose a location for the house, and a percentage appeared before her eyes.
Silvia immediately started the house-building quest.
The place she stood was shown as 0%.
This location is not suitable for building a house.
“0%?”
“This place is not a suitable location for building a house.”
“Then I’ll look around more.”
Silvia searched for a location close to 100% and finally found a high, flat spot little affected by water or wind.
Pressing the terrain selection button, two choices appeared before her eyes.
It was deciding the house size, divided into small, medium, large, extra large.
Choosing extra large, a gauge appeared before her eyes and she leveled the ground by matching the center.
Silvia thought she had to level the ground first, so she worked hard at it and continued the next actions.
Next was erecting pillars, which anyone could do even without being an expert.
“Ya.”
“Dig the ground?”
When Silvia called, Salion thought she wanted him to dig for the pillars.
But it was for a completely different reason.
“No, instead bring more wood.”
“Alright.”
Building an extra-large house required far too much wood.
It seemed they did not have enough with what they had, so Silvia instructed Salion at once.
Salion took up the hatchet and went to cut wood while Silvia told him where to dig.
“First dig in the four corners here and erect the pillars.”
“Ok?”
“Liria, I’ll bring leaves, vines, and stems.”
“Alright.”
Silvia began building the house according to the guide.
When digging and erecting the pillars, the percentage appeared again and she could erect it by matching 100% immediately.
Next she had to lay wood on the floor, but she had to cut it to a certain size.
This seemed to take too long alone, so they decided to cut the wood together.
She could move the saw with the direction keys and adjust the angle to cut.
She laid the floor with wood planks and the walls with bamboo.
