How a Nemmo Fan Force-Supports (2)
Did Japanese songs just not have copyright? Why was every single track Japanese? Hmm… I barely knew Korean songs as it was… and when nothing but Japanese songs whose lyrics I couldn't even begin to parse came on, all I could do was clap.
And yet… the chat in Nemmo's room, there on the video, was overflowing with fancy emotes from people who actually understood Japanese.
Was becoming a diplomat their dream or something? Impressive.
I clapped my hardest, but I felt zero resonance with any of it… no. Wait.
I was a Nemmo fan. I was supposed to feel things as they were.
Yu Seona!! So what if you don't feel anything!! Just, uh… force-support!!
"Whoa!! The emotion in this song. I almost cried. Real tears of pure emotion. Kuhuhuhuhuhuhuk."
Lyrics? How was I supposed to know the lyrics!! I didn't even listen to music. I didn't listen to Korean songs—you think I was going to listen to Japanese ones?!
But!! I was a Nemmo fan. A Nemmo fan knew Japanese. Had to.
"Ah… such a hype song!! Arigato. Arigato. Thank you. Ooh!! Sugoi!! Arigato. Arigato."
Japanese gratitude. That was enough, right? I meant it, too. Because I was, uh… a Nemmo fan.
Yu Seona, who knew nothing but national pride, just used Japanese. If that wasn't sincerity, what was? Done. Over.
I kept listening.
Honestly… good songs. The fact that they were all Japanese aside. Once I actually tried to listen, the melodies were genuinely sweet.
"Kya!! A Korean song…!! Thank you!!"
A thirty-two-song World Cup had climbed all the way from the Round of 32… to the Round of 16… the quarterfinals… the semis… and now the final.
"Thank you for that wonderful song. I will never forget it. It is carved into my heart. Thank you. Company, attention!! Salute to Nemmo!! Loyalty. And. Faith."
I'd listened well. Truly a magnificent song. Thank you.
Not that knowing helped much. Even Korean songs would've been hard to react to… and foreign ones were worse.
Being a Nemmo fan was the only reason I'd managed to scrape together that much.
Anyway. Nemmo sang well too. That was that.
"Excellent. I have learned about my master. The bond between myself and my master has grown closer."
What I'd learned from running the World Cup was this.
Nemmo liked Japan. No—loved it. A thirty-two-song World Cup meant thirty-two tracks, and thirty of them had been Japanese.
If that wasn't proof of love, what was?
Uh…!! Hold on. Did Captain Hacheong like Japanese songs too? A sudden spark. What if Captain Hacheong didn't listen to Japanese music? Then the two of them would have no connection at all.
People say you grow to resemble the ones you love, but if their tastes were different, then…!!
Nemmo fan. You absolute legend. You just dismantled the argument.
"I'd like to learn more about Nemmo. Going to check the wiki real quick. Ah. I have permission. I have full permission. I just want to become real friends with Nemmo. If you hate it, roast me. I'll live longer. I'll live a very long time."
What if I ate so much praise I lived to two hundred? That would get awkward.
Living in moderation was the way. Eating too much praise was a problem.
"Please roast me in moderation. At this rate I might live to a thousand!! Just enough roasting to keep me in the hundred-year era!!"
This was worth gasping over? Heh. Not hard. Anyone could do this much if they put in the effort. Ohoho!!
Wait—ever since I'd checked the viewer count that one time, I'd developed a disease where I kept checking it again.
If I didn't look at the viewer count, my body itched.
I whipped my head around and—huh. What!! The viewers went up? Nemmo overflow viewers, what is this!!
"Three thousand!! What!! Ah~ do we have lurkers in here? Hang on. Uh… this isn't even follower-only chat. Not subscriber-only either. And yet only subscribers are chatting. Did everyone catch a bug? Anyone can type. Hmm…"
Someone chat a little. Not for me… just, it'd be nice if we all hyped Nemmo together.
If everyone dropped praise in chat, Nemmo would get energized.
This would go up on Nemmo's community board, and Nemmo would react to it.
And if good chat kept pouring in, reacting would be easy.
"Praise and force-support chat, please. Not at me. I'll take the roasts and live to a hundred. Please praise Nemmo."
Shall we start again? Time to study Nemmo's wiki hard!!
Just trust Yu Seona. Yu Seona was, in fact, a famous Nemmo fan.
I put my whole heart into learning about Nemmo.
Three days had already passed since I'd started studying Nemmo.
And the more I studied her, the more chills I got. She was an incredible person. The way she roleplayed… genuinely unhinged, in the best way.
A feeling hit me, so I made a sincere request of Motteok.
That was what I sent. This time I wanted to learn for real, so I'd scaled the board up a little.
I wanted to learn properly.
I wanted to learn it right, keep the RP going, and actually get promoted into a real VTuber.
That was the reply, and so I waited three days.
On my own, for three days, I studied RP. RP was truly profound.
A sacred act you must never take lightly—the money poured into it alone could run into the tens of millions of won without blinking.
Do something obvious, or something without flair, and people wouldn't gather. Which, to be fair, was true.
And just like that, the collab was locked in. Learn it properly, apply it, and become a real VTuber.
Once I made it, I'd build an RP character out of it too.
Then pull it out for streams every now and then. Explain the lore and everything—I was good at that stuff. Euihihi.
Going for content expansion, right? More cards was better, wasn't it? Grow. Grow!!
"Nice!!"
So the collab was set, scheduled for seven today.
Nemmo couldn't make it in person, but Motteok had agreed to come to our office.
We were also getting lunch together before heading over… she'd treat me, right? Free rice secured, right? Euihihi.
I couldn't stop laughing.
"Mom, I'm not eating at home today."
"Why?"
"I've got a lunch appointment. Save on the food budget."
Yu Seona was a famously filial daughter. Even cutting household meal costs for them. Mom had to be moved.
"Alright. Eat well. Then you don't need fruit either?"
"Ah. I still need fruit. I'm going to eat a ton of rice and a ton of fruit. Since we're eating together, give me three servings."
"Of fruit?"
"Yes. Three servings of fruit, please. You know the one with the big chest? To keep a chest like that you have to eat a lot of fruit… ugh… ow."
That was not a surprise forehead flick, okay. I rubbed my head and looked at Mom.
"You shouldn't say things like that. Telling someone they have a big chest. That's not okay."
"Ugh… she likes it though."
"You little—"
"Ugh… yes. I won't."
But she really did like it. Motteok took pride in her chest!!
She'd probably prefer someone like me saying it out loud. Mom was just too old-fashioned.
These days people took even the tiniest braggable thing and inflated it into something enormous to show off.
Especially covering up a chest that reeled men in? That kind of woman didn't exist.
If she did, it was because it was too small to show.
But Mom's word was absolute. I had to obey. Disobeying would be unfilial, and unfilial was bad.
Yu Seona was a famous filial daughter, so she knew nothing of unfilial acts. She'd never tried one. She'd always put filial piety first.
"Alright. Make sure you don't."
"Yes."
"Don't even think about slipping up. If you do, apologize immediately. No digging in your heels."
"Yes… understood. I'm heading out right away, so fruit supply requested, please. Very politely."
"What's with the 'very politely.'"
"I attached it because I was trying to ask truly politely."
"Fine. I get it. Go put some clothes on."
"Yes!!"
I changed clothes, grabbed the fruit container, and headed outside.
A cool breeze greeted me. Just thinking about the delicious food waiting made nothing but laughter bubble up.
Lately Mom's cooking had been too bland… and even when I gave her constructive feedback, she rejected it, saying salty food was bad for me.
If you ignore constructive feedback you can't grow, so her choice left me a little disappointed.
Still, if that was Mom's call… I had to respect it.
If constructive feedback wouldn't land… then I should leave. But I had no intention of leaving.
Home was an excellent place.
Fruit supply dropped every day. I'd never cleaned my room once, and yet it was always clean when I came home.
The ventilation system… Mom handled that automatically too.
Laundry? Also automatic. All I did was sleep, eat, wash, and receive fruit containers!!
How convenient this was. Once you'd gotten used to the comfort, you couldn't quit.
"Ohoho."
I cracked open the fruit container a little to check the lineup.
It was stacked in three tiers, so I only opened one. Shine Muscats again. Hmm… a shame.
There were so many good fruits these days—I'd have to submit constructive feedback on this too.
I popped a Shine Muscat into my mouth, chewed it thoughtfully, and headed for the meeting spot.
Motteok was already there.
Honestly, Motteok's outfit wasn't just shameless—it was cruel. That crossbody bag in particular looked like it was trying to kill someone!! I wanted to give her constructive feedback so badly, but I held it in.
I'd grown too. I had to endure for as long as I could.
How long could I keep sliding by with "I don't know!!"? I knew now. Once you knew, you couldn't slide by.
I'd keep my focus locked and try to endure.
I would overcome temptation no matter what, and declare to the world that I had grown.
