Reborn as an Outer God
Suddenly, but I died. I was your average guy in my late twenties living in South Korea, and in the most classic way possible, I got crushed to death by an eight-ton truck with busted brakes. Just when I thought that was it, the end... I opened my eyes again.
What the hell? Did I come back to life? Or did I die and end up in the afterlife? Everything around me was pitch black, and my body wouldn't move no matter what I tried. Kinda feels like the afterlife. That's what I was thinking when—
'Universe, Cosmic Accords, the Dawn of Space Society, Outer Gods, Absolute Beings, My True Nature...'
Suddenly, an enormous flood of information poured into my head. The kind of volume that would've blown a human brain to bits back when I was one. But I absorbed it all without a hint of pain or strain, like it was nothing.
Like it was no big deal... Wait, what? I couldn't make sense of any of this. Galaxies across the universe, their positions... even ways to get there... Universe? Galaxies? What the fuck is this?
The info flooding my mind was all brand new, stuff I'd never seen in my old life. Naturally, this wasn't my world anymore, and I sure as hell hadn't reincarnated as a human. This was a space opera universe straight out of Star Wars or Starcraft.
And I... I'd been reborn as something called an Outer God. A being close to a god in the absolute sense. The kind of thing people call "cosmic horror" or "Cthulhu."
A body the size of a damn planet, writhing tentacles, some indescribable, formless mass. I'd become a horrific abomination beyond words.
A curse slipped out before I knew it. Huh, at least I can talk. Or... not really a mouth, but I can still speak? It's like those novel systems where language transmits directly into the mind as words.
...Hell if I know what I'm saying, fuck. Anyway, I could tell this situation was totally fucked.
Put simply: I'd become Cthulhu's Outer God. Ha ha ha, what the actual fuck.
The info dump included everything I could do now, and just skimming it made my mind reel. Is this the Outer God's mind-break attack? Yeah, proximity alone scrambles most lifeforms' brains and shakes their sanity. Seeing, hearing, or perceiving me in any way without mental defenses? Instant madness or death.
A power worthy of the name Outer God. But that's not all. Far from it. Life creation, planet destruction, planet creation, star forging, black hole generation, dimension ripping, dimension hopping... Basically omnipotent.
The dump even included info on the entire universe. Dimension hopping means... I could go back to my old Earth?
[......]
Nah... forget it. Even if I could, showing up like this would just end the planet. What can you do? Reborn like this, might as well roll with it.
...But what do Outer Gods even do? Immortal, unkillable, eternal. Gotta get boring as shit. Just floating in space forever? Way too dull. Is that why gods make worlds, lifeforms... terrorize and torment them? Fuck-all else to do?
Anything fun out there? Not even ten minutes in, and I'm already bored.
I sensed life nearby and let out a sound without thinking. ...Gotta watch it. My voice alone wrecks most lifeforms' minds. Better keep thoughts internal, no speaking.
Anyway, about 2 billion km out, a spaceship popped up. Wormhole warp? Probably one of this universe's space society's intelligent species.
Hmm... Terra tourist ship? Terras are the race most like humans from my old life. Might as well meet 'em to kill the boredom. They're no threat anyway—no worry about attacks or injury.
But getting close would shatter their minds... Oh, perfect ability: Clone Creation. Makes a clone sharing my senses. Clones can't use my full powers, just mimic the base race's abilities—harmless to weaklings like them.
Slurp—
Generated the clone. To me, it's smaller than a speck of dust—body's planet-sized, after all. Modeled it after my old self. Done.
Huh, kinda lacking? Not a perfect copy. Beef up the muscles a bit, bigger eyes... higher nose bridge? Heh, perfect. Terra clone!
Alright, Matter Creation for a personal spaceship, load the clone aboard. Let's go!
ZZZAP— A massive spaceship burst into the heart of space via wormhole.
"Thank you all for visiting Galaxy B-02345, the so-called 'Skull Nebula,' today. On behalf of Laxstoll Tour, we extend our heartfelt gratitude. We at Laxstoll Tour are committed to..."
"Whoa~ Daddy, look over there."
"That's the Skull Nebula. Up close, it really looks like a skull, huh?"
"We're going inside?"
"Yeah. There's a no-development planet managed by the Rubaran tribe—turned it into a space safari for tourists. Supposedly packed with rare creatures."
"Ooh... Is that the guidebook? Lemme read it too."
Laxstoll Tour, the tourism giant run by Terra businessman Hank Yu. Boasted 500 ships, each carrying up to 1,000 Terras.
Today's destination for hundreds of tourists of various races: the massive Skull Nebula, named for its skull-shaped interstellar clouds. Inside, multiple no-development planets managed by the top-tier space society nation, the Rubaran tribe. Pristine, untouched worlds made it a hot spot.
The ship headed there smoothly. Space pirates occasionally hit tourist vessels, but Laxstoll was huge—ships heavily armed. Plus, Rubaran patrols kept the area safe. No real dangers.
Everyone relaxed—until.
A short, simple phrase slammed into their heads.
"?!"
"Gah!! Urghhh!!"
"Waaahhh!"
"Kyaa! Aaaack!"
And in that instant, Terras and low-mental-immunity races clutched their heads in agony from a single word etched in their minds. Some vomited, others nosebled and collapsed.
"Urgh...! Wh-what the hell."
"What's happening...!"
Even high-immunity races just gripped throbbing skulls, barely staying upright.
One word. "Oh." That was the chaos it wrought.
"Do something! Raise the mind barrier now!"
A relatively fine young Meias man bellowed at the crew. But most crew were Terras—low immunity, total panic.
"Fuck... Where's the emergency control panel? I'll do it myself."
He stood. Meias looked Terra-like but wielded vastly superior energy—"magic."
But an elderly Meias beside him stopped him.
"Stop... This isn't something a mind barrier can handle..."
The elder seemed to know what this was. Sweating bullets, trembling.
"Master, do you know what's going on?"
The young Meias asked gravely. The elder nodded, face resigned.
"...A god has come. Something from this universe you must never encounter. Something you shouldn't even know exists...!"
Then he muttered: We're all dead. No escape. Running's useless. We'll meet our end here. Should've never left for space...
"Fuck..."
The young Meias gathered mana anyway—hoping for a protection spell.
But then.
"...What the hell? What's all this shit?"
A casually dressed Terra youth appeared out of nowhere.
