The Log is Light (3)
Somehow, I finished growing and reached level 6. I finally got an ultimate besides the basic skills, but nothing really changed. "S-Suika's ultimate is… stealth for 4, 4 seconds……."
"It's not trash… You can aim for assassination angles, it's actually really good."
"……"
At my serious expression, the chat instantly went quiet. I figured they were only acting like this because I hadn't encountered any enemies yet, so I quickly regrouped with my teammates.
"H-Haha, during the teamfight…! I'll show you, for real……"
"I… went with attack speed and lifesteal for now."
"I-Isn't this good? Didn't you see it earlier? Wabababababa……"
"Y-Yeah… Is 'pew-pew-pew-pew' a better way to put it?"
"…If Suika gets nerfed, I'm quitting the game."
"Yes, Mom… Suika is my precious friend who gave my life meaning for months… my own little Suika……"
"If our daughter gets nerfed, I won't have any reason to stay in this game anymore. I guess I'll have to switch to being a singing streamer then."
"When that happens, I'll really just sing and stream."
"…Does that mean you want our baby to get nerfed right now?"
At my words, Mom let out an awkward laugh and quickly suggested we regroup. I sighed as I watched her retreating back.
"E-Everyone, please don't say that… Akari is also incredibly precious to me… A-Ahh… embarrassing."
"Uwaa…! You startled me!"
Haram had somehow snuck up beside me, wearing a mischievous grin. After apologizing to her for yelling, I clicked my mouse and followed the distant voices to meet up with my teammates.
Yeon-a's voice rang out from afar.
I smiled faintly at the chat's comments about Yeon-a's unusually high energy. I knew the reason was because of me. There was also a sense of pride that I had helped her regain her old spark.
'She was always like this.'
She used to bounce around at the slightest bit of good news.
"Y-You did great… Well done……"
"Ugh… I-I can't roast her. How could I do that to someone precious… U-Unless it's while looking in a mirror."
When I pressed the trauma button, everyone started squeezing out tears together. In the suffocating silence, the Witch quickly apologized to me.
"I-It's fine, you don't have to apologize. It's because I brought it up myself."
With the chat atmosphere back to normal, we gathered for a mid-game check.
"Y-Yeowu…! You got a kill… Amazing. I knew you could do it."
"Oof… You startled me, p-please stop yelling, my heart's pounding……"
Yeowu 1 kill, Yeon-a 1 kill, me and Mom 0 kills, Witch 1 death. Total score 2 to 1. Not bad. We had secured two kills before the real teamfights even began.
Both teams gathered in the center as the arena slowly began to close in. The shrinking space signaled that the real game was about to begin. Then, as if by magic, the tension in my body disappeared. Maybe it was because I was playing with good people. There was no one here who would insult me. Only people who praised me. So there was no reason for me to be nervous in this fight. After all, EoW was the one thing I was actually good at.
"Everyone, the basics of teamfighting is not to blindly initiate."
Maybe it would work? But Bronze players shouldn't trust their own brains. Especially when matched with high-tier players, you should never trust your own judgment. Because there's a high chance it's a misjudgment.
"Even if it feels like it might work, holding back is important."
"When the enemy tank is absent, or when the enemy marksman is overextending. You should only initiate in those two situations. In EoW, marksmen deal a huge portion of the team's damage."
"Alright, cats, get to your positions."
I said that and played the grand BGM from a hero movie that had been hugely popular before.
"…Chick claaass…!"
The BGM quieted down. In that moment, I brought my mic close and whispered.
"Assemble……"
I thought it was pretty cool. The chat was busy teasing me. With my eyebrows forming a V again, I decided to vent my frustration by charging at the enemy.
We ran forward. Soon, we clashed with the enemy and a fierce teamfight began.
But right at the start of the teamfight, Bronze 1 went down in an instant.
Yeon-a was taken out, but we didn't care.
Yeowu immediately picked one off.
But he was soon struck down as well. The score was now 3 to 3. Just when it seemed okay since it was tied, another Silver went down.
The Witch fell as she said that. Now only Haram and I remained. The score was 3 to 4. The one-point lead from the early game had been overturned. On top of that, it was now a 2 vs 4 teamfight. We were overwhelmingly disadvantaged.
"…This is bad."
Mom said that, suggesting we retreat and regroup with our allies. I asked her in a serious voice.
"If I weren't a snake, would we be at a disadvantage?"
"You trust me, right?"
I smirked, and Mom cast a buff on me. Two minutes later, I repaid that trust.
Through the system messages.
