Selling Bread (1)
I planted the wheat seeds and stared at the ground for a long while. The enhanced seeds were supposed to grow twice as fast. “…Why isn’t it growing?”
“Uh… I-I guess it doesn’t grow that fast… haha.”
I nodded and headed back home, thinking I should do something in the meantime. There really wasn’t much to do. I still needed a bit more courage for socializing, but I didn’t want to just sit around either.
Spawn point set. It is still daytime, so you cannot sleep.

Spawn point set. It is still daytime, so you cannot sleep.
Feeling like there really was nothing to do, I right-clicked the bed repeatedly while staring at the chat.
“A fence…?”
The Jireongi kept suggesting all sorts of ways to kill time while I mulled it over. I pulled some wood from the chest and crafted a crafting table.
“U-um, what’s the fence recipe…?”
I asked for the recipe and slowly crafted the fences. Following the Jireongi’s advice to make a gate as well, I quickly made one.
“Do I just surround it like this…?”
I hurried to the riverbank and fenced the entire area around the wheat. The Jireongi showered me with praise.
“Ah… t-torches… just a sec.”
Using the leftover coal from smelting sand, I crafted a few torches and placed three on top of the fence posts.
“Oh… it fits perfectly.”
Once I finished installing everything with a bright smile, the seeds suddenly sprouted a little. “Oh…!”
Of course, I had already studied what fully grown wheat looked like, so I didn’t make the mistake of harvesting too early.
‘This feels like I’m actually growing something…!’
A sense of pride welled up in my chest. The feeling of having accomplished something real. It was strangely healing. Like I had retired to a farm.
“I think I get why news articles say Minecraft is used for research… Wow… this is really healing……”
The chat agreed with me. Smiling brightly, I hummed a little tune and ate the support bread I had received from Yeon-a.
“Now… should I just wait for this? Once I make the bread, I can go around selling it like a street vendor… heheh.”
“E… I-I-I get fined?”
When I asked in surprise, they laughed and said no. Calming my racing heart, I deliberately put on a teary voice.
“D-don’t say that again……”
After that, we chatted a little more.
While I was lurking, browsing the café, and receiving some iron from Yeon-a to craft a helmet, an all-too-familiar voice rang in my ears.
[Oh! Snake-nim!]
It was Yeowu-nim, another ace of our party and former pro gamer.
Startled, I turned around to see Yeowu-nim running toward me with a bright smile.
“Ah… hello…!”
[Yes, hello. What were you doing?]
The chat sped up the moment Yeowu-nim appeared. Being a mother herself, just being near her felt warm. Like my heart was turning fluffy.
“Ah… um… I was just waiting for this.”
“This?”
“Yes……”
It was a bit embarrassing to show my pathetic little field, but I gathered my courage and introduced it to Yeowu-nim.
“This is my field… I planted enhanced wheat because they said it grows fast… heheh.”
[Oh…! You bought that with the diamonds you got?]
“Y-yes.”
[Nice. Food is important, after all.]
Yeowu-nim praised me without holding back. I smiled brightly and thanked her.
[When you harvest fully grown wheat, you get the enhanced seeds back, right?]
“Yes… I think so. I heard you can’t trade them the same way……”
[Ah, that’s a shame.]
She told me to wait a moment and started cycling through items in her hand.
[Found it. Bone meal.]
“B-bone meal…?”
[Yes. Have you never played Minecraft before?]
“No… is there something special about it…?”
[Ah, you’ve never played. Then of course you wouldn’t know.]
Yeowu-nim smiled warmly and handed me the bone meal. I tilted my head and glanced at the chat.
“Eh… sprinkling this on wheat makes it grow faster?”
When I asked, Yeowu-nim nodded. My eyes sparkled as I said I understood and rushed into the field.
“I just throw it like this, right…?”
[Yes, that’s right.]
I could turn it straight into bread. ‘If I sell this, I’ll be rich…!’
Caught up in the thought, I approached the wheat and quickly threw the item. But the wheat showed no reaction. Wondering if I needed to throw more, I spammed Q—
[Pfft…!]
“Eh…?”
[T-that’s not how you do it…! Khh!]
Yeowu-nim’s voice leaked with laughter as she stopped me. Confused, I looked at the chat.
“Ah…?”
[You have to right-click to sprinkle it.]
“Ah……”
My face turned bright red in an instant. How stupid must I have looked to everyone? Scattering unpackaged fertilizer while chanting “grow faster.”
“Ugh… y-you should’ve told me sooner.”
[Sorry…! I thought you’d obviously right-click.]
“I’m… not a Minecraft pro… I’m just a noob……”
[Aigoo…! You can’t use bad words like that!]
“I’m sorry……”
The Jireongi were all the worst. Making me go through embarrassing situations like this.
With a sigh, I sprinkled the bone meal on the wheat. My sigh quickly turned into admiration.
“Oh…!”
[See? It’s all grown now, right?]
“Yes…!”
[Aww, you’re so cute. Now just harvest it! I’ll be going then…! Good luck with the next raid!]
“Ah… goodbye!”
I bowed politely and smiled brightly as I admired the fully grown wheat swaying gently in the breeze.
“Wooow……”
There was no time to admire it. I had to harvest quickly, make some bread, and head to the plaza.
‘Socializing…! I have to make tons of friends…!’
Since I needed to make lots of friends, selling bread might be the fastest way. I remembered that article about making friends with jelly in the new semester… Yeon-a had shoved it in my face back in middle school to cheer me on. Of course, I had found it burdensome and refused at the time.
‘But now…!’
If it was online instead of offline, maybe that strategy would actually work.
In Kay’s social server, a new legend had begun circulating today.
Apparently an incredibly adorable person was handing out bread. People were puzzled yet all remembered the name of that cute creature.
Snake. The legendary Imugi-like girl. People began calling her Imugi.
