I Gotta Go See Oppa Right Now
“Alright! Everyone enjoy those snacks? Then let's get into the real shooting!”
At PD Lee Han-bit's shout, the set tensed up once more.
Today's scene was the first meeting between Jang Seo-ah (Kim Na-yeon) and Kim Young-woong (Seo Eun-seong) in the drama.
[Setting: Jang Seo-ah, running desperately down a narrow alley because she's late for work. Meanwhile, Kim Young-woong emerges from the opposite side on a delivery scooter. The two nearly collide at the alley corner.]
“Na-yeon-ssi. Eun-seong-ssi. You remember the blocking, right? When the scooter stops, Eun-seong-ssi pulls Na-yeon-ssi in sharply to keep her from falling. We need that razor-sharp romantic tension to explode! Got it?”
“Yes. We'll keep it in mind.”
Seo Eun-seong and Kim Na-yeon moved to their marks.
Eun-seong climbed onto the scooter with its delivery box attached and started the engine.
“Ready! Action!”
With the slate's clap, Kim Na-yeon started dashing down the alley in her high heels. Eun-seong timed it perfectly and twisted the throttle.
Phew. Here we go.
Vroom!
The moment the scooter rounded the alley corner, it came face-to-face with Na-yeon charging out.
“Kyaa!”
Kim Na-yeon screamed upon spotting the scooter.
“Watch out!”
Screech!
Eun-seong reflexively slammed on the brakes, halting the scooter. And then—
“Ahh?”
Na-yeon let out a short yelp as she stumbled.
Eun-seong planted one foot down from the scooter and shot out his long arm, yanking her waist toward him.
“You okay?”
Thud! Na-yeon crashed softly into Eun-seong's firm chest.
That was where the script direction ended.
[Jang Seo-ah clutches her startled chest, eyes wide in Young-woong's arms. Young-woong looks down at Seo-ah indifferently.]
But Kim Na-yeon, whose competitive fire had been lit by the banner warning, had no intention of stopping there.
“Wha—?”
Clinging to Eun-seong's chest, Na-yeon suddenly pretended to lose her balance and wobbled. Then she threw her outstretched arms around his neck, pulling him close. Using the momentum, she pressed her face right up to his jawline.
“.....”
Whoosh. Their noses hovered just a breath apart, tantalizingly close. The sweet, heavy scent of her perfume mingled with her warm breath brushing his lips.
This... isn't in the script?
Eun-seong froze for a split second.
But only for a moment.
Aha? Na-yeon noona's totally immersed and throwing in some ad-lib? As expected from a top actress.
He chalked it up to her improv. When your co-star ad-libs, you roll with it—that's actor etiquette.
I'll match her.
Eun-seong erased his surprise and slipped into his signature melancholic, aloof gaze.
“.....”
He looked down at Na-yeon in his arms with deep, piercing eyes.
The alley fell silent except for their breathing. The male and female leads locked eyes in an intoxicating, heart-pounding tension.
“Whoa...?”
“That's good, right?”
PD Lee Han-bit and writer Jeong Eun-young, glued to the monitor, gaped in awe.
“Right? Writer-nim? The chemistry's popping from take one!”
“PD-nim, don't you dare cut this scene. We air it as is. Got it?”
The two slapped each other's arms in excitement. A perfect, script-transcending masterpiece had been born.
“Cut! Perfect! You two!”
At Lee Han-bit's call, the electric tension finally broke.
“Whew.”
Eun-seong carefully released Na-yeon. But as she pulled away, she rose on tiptoes and whispered right in his ear.
“Eun-seong-ssi.”
“Yes?”
“Your embrace is so wide... and warm?”
Her low, intimate murmur followed immediately.
“Ahem...”
Eun-seong's face flushed hot as he coughed awkwardly.
“Haha... Is it?”
He hurriedly averted his eyes.
“Oh dear. Got some foundation on you.”
Na-yeon flashed a victor's smile and casually straightened his clothes.
What's with her today? She's extra aggressive... But it's all acting, right?
Eun-seong's heart pounded. He couldn't tell if that whisper was scripted or real.
He fiddled idly with the scooter handle to distract himself.
The first scene wrapped, and break time arrived.
“Here, have some.”
Eun-seong handed out coffees to the staff while standing off to the side of the set.
“Eun-seong-ssi!”
Kim Na-yeon approached with her phone in hand, trotting over briskly.
“Great work. Flawless for your first shoot? You've been practicing a lot, huh?”
“Nah, you led perfectly, noona. But... your ad-lib was insanely natural too.”
“Hehe. Was it?”
Na-yeon shrugged and pointed to the distant coffee truck.
“Eun-seong-ssi. Let's take a proof shot in front of the coffee truck.”
“Proof shot?”
“Yeah. Siren juniors went to all this trouble— as the lead actress, it's only polite to post a thank-you.”
“Ah?”
It made sense now. It was the meal truck his little sisters had sent. A shoutout would make them proud.
“Sure. Let's do it!”
Without a second thought, Eun-seong stood side-by-side with Na-yeon in front of the coffee truck.
[If you touch our Bear Doll Oppa, Siren will mobilize. Beep beep! -From all of Siren]
“Scoot a little closer, Eun-seong-ssi.”
“Like this?”
“No no, a bit more?”
Na-yeon held up her phone camera and pressed her body flush against his. And at the shutter click—
She casually rested her head on his shoulder, beaming the world's most affectionate, blissful smile.
“Taking it?”
Click!
The photo snapped. Na-yeon checked it with a satisfied grin.
“Looks great. I'll post it on my Insta.”
“Thanks, sunbae-nim.”
Eun-seong smiled brightly, imagining his sisters' joy.
But ten minutes later—
Kim Na-yeon's SNS post was anything but wholesome.
The word oh-so-intensely evoked the script's kiss scene direction. Add the possessive our Eun-seong and heart emoji, and it was a blatant provocation.
To fans, it looked like a sweet senior-junior proof shot. But to its real targets—the five Siren members—it was a fiery fox's declaration of war.
Meanwhile, at J&J Entertainment's Siren-exclusive dance practice room in Cheongdam-dong.
“Haa... haa... Break. Water time.”
The five members, sweating as they synced choreography in front of the mirror, collapsed to the floor.
Ha-rin instinctively grabbed her phone during the rest.
“Is oppa doing well on set? He must've been shocked by our coffee truck.”
She smiled warmly and opened Instagram.
But her smile froze solid exactly three seconds later.
“.....”
Ha-rin's brow twitched, her eyes narrowing.
“Wh... what the hell is this?”
Her low growl made the members, mid-sip, whip their heads around.
“What's up, Ha-rin?”
Choi Eun-jin peered at Ha-rin's screen.
Kim Na-yeon's post filled it: her face plastered happily to Eun-seong's broad shoulder, with provocative hashtags and caption below.
“Crazy...?”
A curse slipped from Eun-jin's lips.
“This vixen just declared war on us, right?!”
Eun-jin shot to her feet, fuming.
“What'd she say, unnie?”
Lee Ah-hyun rushed over, gasped at the post, and teared up.
“Intensely with our Eun-seong oppa? Intensely? She's dead serious!”
“They're stealing Eun-seong orabuni? Nooo!”
Gomin-ji wailed pitifully.
“Whoa? I wasn't even thinking much, but damn, that's sneaky annoying.”
Even Kim Chae-yeon stirred.
“.....”
The practice room chilled.
At the center stood Ha-rin, her gaze no longer an idol's—but a beast facing the theft of her one and only brother.
“The shoot's in Hwagok-dong, right.”
Ha-rin muttered lowly. She'd pried the location from her innocent oppa that morning over sandwiches.
“Can't let this slide.”
She gripped her phone like it might shatter and stood.
Snatching her jacket from the floor—
“Dance practice ends here today.”
Her icy tone had the members grabbing their outerwear one by one.
No time for practice when the enemy had thrown down the gauntlet.
“I gotta go see oppa right now. How dare she touch my pure, innocent oppa?”
Ha-rin stormed out, words dripping menace.
“Perfect. We can cheer on Bear Doll and check out that fox's mug.”
“Not letting her off. Don't stop me today, unnies?”
A pack of venomous she-hyenas followed in her wake.
