Yeah, No. Just Go Home~
Fortunately, the doorbell didn't ring again. I'd told them I had an appointment, so they must've figured no one was home and left. But we'd literally made plans for tomorrow—why show up out of the blue like that? Were they just passing by and thought they'd drop in to say hi? It was confusing as hell.
Of course, I was trying my damnedest not to show it on the outside. But one thing was clear: the mood for continuing our romp was completely shattered.
"Who was that at the door, anyway? The vibe's totally ruined now, right?"
Yoonah said it with a slightly awkward smile. I glanced at her face—she looked like she'd be down to pick things right back up if I wanted. But I just couldn't get my head there anymore.
"Who knows? Probably the wind or something. Anyway, it's broken now, yeah."
That was a problem in itself. "Hey, it's hot in here. Want something to drink? Oh, right, you don't do sodas. Water, then?"
"Nah, I'm good."
Yoonah gave me a smile, her gaze dropping just a bit as she looked my way. Whew. She probably picked up on the weird vibe. Hell, she'd always said my face gave everything away. Anyone else might miss it, but not Yoonah—she'd definitely sensed that something off was going on.
Even so, there wasn't much I could do except desperately try to hide it.
"Hey, Jisoo."
"Yeah?"
"I hope there's nothing you're hiding from me."
Ugh. So she had noticed. It'd be weirder if she hadn't, honestly.
"Hiding? Nah, the doorbell? No way."
Still, how the hell was I supposed to bring up another girl I was seeing? To someone I was still in the flirty phase with? Impossible. No matter how I sliced it, it was impossible. The only option was keeping the two of them from ever crossing paths.
"I'm really okay. I can understand anything."
She looked at me with a resolute expression. Then, out of nowhere:
"Who was that person who came by earlier?"
The question I'd been dying to dodge slipped right out of her mouth. Damn.
"...No one, really."
I forced the most nonchalant face I could muster. My voice might've trembled a little, but I tried hard to cover it.
"Yeah, maybe you're not ready yet."
"Huh? Ready for what? Haha."
"When you're ready in your heart, just tell me then."
Jesus. How much had she figured out? Sweat was beading on my forehead, cold and clammy. Yoonah continued:
"I can handle any story you throw at me—as long as it's not 'let's stop seeing each other.'"
She gave a sad little smile. This wasn't why I'd called her over. Every word she spoke carried weight, laced with how much she trusted me, how far she believed in me. It hit me right in the chest.
"Even if you have a kid, or you're seeing a bunch of other women or whatever."
My heart sank. No kid, sure—but the other women? Spot on. And thankfully:
"I'd be fine with all that. I know how special you are. I know I can't have you all to myself."
Special, huh. Yeah, my powers were something else.
"So when you're ready, promise you'll tell me first."
She'd seen through this much already—no backing out now. I nodded with a faint smile.
"Yeah, that'll do."
She got up from her seat, came over to me, and planted a soft kiss on my lips.
"I'll head out for today."
"Want me to walk you?"
"No, it's fine. I drove here. I can go alone."
Yoonah politely turned down even my offer to see her to the parking lot. I walked her as far as the elevator, watched her go, then came back inside.
The mood was trashed. Maybe it would've been better to just come clean from the start.
"Ah, fuck. But how the hell do I even say it? I've got a conscience, you know."
All I could do was sigh. At least she'd said she'd wait till I was ready—that wasn't the worst-case scenario. I didn't want to lose Yoonah. But the same went double for Juyeon. Other girls? Fine, whatever. But these two? No way in hell.
"I'll talk to Juyeon more first, let things deepen. Then figure it out after."
The key was waiting till both could understand. Yoonah seemed like she'd get it now, but Juyeon? Higher chance she'd bolt. Sure, some might call me trash—and yeah, maybe I was rationalizing. Sigh.
All I felt was this suffocating frustration. Maybe knock back a drink?
I kinda like driving. Cruising through spots with different scenery from the usual always clears my head, melts the stress away. But tonight? Not the best idea. Felt like it'd just stir up trouble.
So I ended up texting Manager Oppa.
