Burning Island Raid (4)
Tae-won and Jaehyuk clashed weapons or dodged each other’s strikes, exchanging several moves in a fierce one-on-one duel. During the fight, Tae-won swung his machete at Jaehyuk, who blocked it squarely with his axe.
His strength is no joke. My arm’s completely numb.
With that thought, Jaehyuk stepped back to create distance. When Tae-won closed in again and swung his machete, Jaehyuk ducked low to avoid the blade. At the same moment he twisted the axe so the edge faced downward, stepped in closer, and swung the reversed axe at Tae-won’s exposed right calf.
Shit…!!
Realizing he would take the axe below the knee if he didn’t move, Tae-won yanked his right foot back and tried to swing his own machete at Jaehyuk. Jaehyuk spun the axe once more—this time with the blade facing upward—rose smoothly, and deflected the incoming machete with the axe head while twisting his body to the left. Then he drove his left fist hard into Tae-won’s exposed liver.
“Grrraaagh…!!”
The technique Jaehyuk had used was a liver shot—a punch to the area around the liver that delivered a devastating shock to the nervous system. Tae-won staggered from the blow, then collapsed. Jaehyuk drove the axe deep into the fallen man’s skull, killing him instantly. He stared down at the gruesome corpse, its head split open, and spat coldly.
“……I warned you.”
After dispatching Tae-won so easily, Jaehyuk noticed Jung Jinyong had recovered enough strength in his legs to flee toward the emergency stairs. He hurled the axe at the man’s retreating back. The spinning blade flew true and buried itself in Jinyong’s right shoulder with a meaty thunk.
“Aaaaaargh!!!”
Jinyong screamed, staggered, and fell. Blood poured from the wound as he began crawling away again, just like before.
“Huuuuh… Hic… Fuck… It hurts so goddamn much… Hurrrrgh…”
Jaehyuk walked over to the crawling man, yanked the axe free from his shoulder, and stomped down hard on the open wound. Jinyong shrieked in agony. Jaehyuk crouched beside his head, held the bloodied axe in front of his eyes, and spoke in a voice thick with killing intent.
“Hey. Where the hell do you think you’re going?”
“Huuuurgh… It hurts so bad… Please, spare me…”
Jaehyuk watched the pathetic sight—Jinyong trembling, clutching at his pant leg with his right hand while begging for his life like a cockroach—then seized that same hand and snapped the thumb backward with a sharp crack.
“Kyyaaaaaaaagh!!!”
“I was thinking about killing you outright… but on second thought, you don’t deserve an easy death like that.”
Jaehyuk stood, grabbed both of Jinyong’s ankles while the man writhed on the ground clutching his broken finger, and planted his right foot between his legs. Jinyong realized what was coming. His eyes filled with pure terror as he looked up and shook his head frantically.
“Ah… No… Don’t… I was wrong… I swear I was wrong… Please… I’ll do anything you want… Just please… Don’t do this…”
Jaehyuk looked down with cold eyes and said flatly, “……This is exactly what I want.”
With murder blazing in his gaze, he slammed his heel down hard between Jinyong’s legs. A wet crunch sounded as something burst. Blood sprayed in every direction while Jinyong let out a horrific, gut-wrenching scream.
“Grrraaaack…!! Grrruuuuurgh…!!!”
Jinyong convulsed, foaming at the mouth, his lower body drenched in blood, until he finally passed out. Jaehyuk stared down at him with icy eyes, then turned and headed for the VIP room to find Lee Seunghun.
After cutting down every guard who tried to stop him, Jaehyuk reached the VIP room and stepped inside. Instead of Lee Seunghun, he found only VIP guests sprawled out, unconscious from drugs.
Fuck… Did he already run?
He saw the women collapsed everywhere and the suspicious syringes littering the floor around them. Jaehyuk picked up a camcorder lying beside one of the unconscious women and played the recorded footage. The videos were unspeakably depraved—filthy rape scenes that turned his stomach.
They used these videos as blackmail to turn the women into sex slaves, promising not to spread them while secretly uploading everything to the dark web?
The thought that Soo-yeon and Dahyun had nearly suffered the same nightmare ignited a blazing fury in his chest. He smashed the camcorder into the floor, shattering it to pieces.
They committed these atrocities dozens of times and only got five or six years in prison? These bastards are lower than animals.
At that moment, the celebrity Choi Junghoon, still hazy from the drugs, regained consciousness. He looked at Jaehyuk and slurred, “Ughhh… Huh? Who the hell are you…?”
Jaehyuk remembered that Junghoon was one of the Burning Island cartel members. He snatched a fork from the table and drove it deep into the man’s thigh.
“Graaaaagh!!!”
“I won’t ask twice. Where is Lee Seunghun?”
“Hurk… Lee Seunghun…? Victory…? Why are you looking for that guy—!!”
In a flash, Jaehyuk ripped the fork from the bleeding thigh and stabbed it straight into Junghoon’s right eye, twisting viciously.
“Aaaaaagh!!! I don’t know!! Fuck, I really don’t know!!! I was passed out the whole time!! Aaaargh!!! Mom!!!”
……Does he actually not know?
Jaehyuk pulled the fork free. Junghoon dropped his head, curled into a ball, and trembled violently from the sudden torture.
“Ughhhhh… It hurts so fucking bad…”
I’d love to keep working on him, but there’s no time. I can’t let Lee Seunghun—one of the main culprits behind these filthy crimes—escape.
Jaehyuk hurried out of the VIP room.
Meanwhile, Kyung-chul and Jeonghan were still locked in a brutal duel, blades ringing against each other. Kyung-chul parried Jeonghan’s swing and thrust his sashimi knife toward the abdomen, but Jeonghan twisted aside and slashed at his chest. Kyung-chul caught the wrist with his left hand to block, then thrust again. Jeonghan released the knife in his right hand, caught it with his left, deflected the incoming blade, and spun counterclockwise. At the same time he drove a front kick into Kyung-chul’s stomach.
“Urk…!!!”
Kyung-chul released the wrist and staggered back. Jeonghan switched the knife back to his right hand, closed the distance, and swung again. After defending, Kyung-chul thrust at Jeonghan’s throat, but the other man dodged, flipped his grip so the blade pointed downward, and slashed and stabbed the exposed right thigh.
“Keuk!”
Hit in the thigh, Kyung-chul staggered. Jeonghan rose, knocked the right arm aside to prevent a counter, then drove an elbow into his jaw. The direct hit sent Kyung-chul reeling backward until he collapsed. Jeonghan stood over him, breathing hard.
Haa… This is tougher than dealing with those Iljin punks. Guess a real trained thug really is on another level.
Just then, Jihun—having finished clearing the guards—walked over and asked, “Where’s Jaehyuk?”
“He went to the VIP room ahead of us.”
“Got it. Let’s go. Time to fuck those bastards up.”
Jeonghan and Jihun hurried toward the VIP room. On the way they ran into Jaehyuk.
“Park Jaehyuk! What about Lee Seunghun?”
Jaehyuk shook his head. “He wasn’t there. Looks like he already ran.”
Jeonghan asked, “Then what about Jung Jinyong?”
“I already took care of him. His balls are crushed. If he’s unlucky, he’ll die from neurogenic shock.”
Jaehyuk scanned the area, picked up a fallen machete, and thought for a moment about where Seunghun might have fled.
That fucking bastard… Where the hell did he go?
A memory from his previous life suddenly surfaced—the news story about a Burning Island employee who had discovered a ledger detailing the collusion between the club and corrupt high officials while cleaning Lee Seunghun’s office. The employee had leaked it to the press out of resentment for the abuse of power he had suffered.
That’s it—Lee Seunghun’s office!
Jaehyuk told the others, “Let’s head to his office. The executive director’s room.”
“Why there?”
“While escaping, he’ll try to take every piece of evidence that could expose him. If he left it all behind, the police investigating this place would find everything. You think he’d just abandon that?”
“Makes sense. Then let’s go to the executive office.”
“Yeah. If he’s there, we’ll beat the shit out of him!!”
The three friends moved out, subduing everyone who tried to block their path as they headed for the executive director’s office.
Inside the Burning Island executive director’s office, a panicked Lee Seunghun was frantically stuffing bundles of cash and stacks of documents into a large bag with his subordinates.
“Hurry up and pack it! Faster! We need to get out before those Gangryonghoe bastards show up!”
“Yes, sir!”
They crammed the bag full, zipped it shut, and were about to leave when a mysterious figure suddenly appeared in front of them, blocking the exit. Several muffled thumps followed. Seunghun’s subordinates’ heads exploded, spraying blood, brain matter, and torn flesh in every direction as they died instantly.
The figure had used a Browning Hi-Power 9mm pistol fitted with a suppressor, delivering one or two rounds to each man’s chest and one to the head in precise Mozambique drills.
“Uh… Uhh… Uhhh…”
Seunghun froze, face splattered with his subordinates’ blood and brains. Kang Hyuk, pistol still in hand, leveled the weapon at Seunghun’s head.
“Where do you think you’re running to, you son of a bitch?”
“Y-you… Who the hell are you…? Who sent you…? Was it that fucker Ha Seongjun?? Did that bastard order you to kill me??”
“……Do I look like I’m from Gangryonghoe?”
Kang Hyuk slowly closed the distance, gun never wavering. As the muzzle nearly touched his forehead, Seunghun backed away, pulled a second-generation Glock 17 from his pocket with his right hand, and pointed it at Kang Hyuk.
“Die, you motherfucker!!!”
Kang Hyuk had anticipated the move and jerked his head to the right. A gunshot rang out; the bullet slammed into the wall behind him.
“Aaaaaagh!!! Everyone die, you fucks!! Aaaaagh!!! Aaaargh!!!”
Seunghun fired wildly in a panic. Kang Hyuk used sofas and other furniture for cover, dodging the barrage. Eventually the Glock stopped firing. No matter how many times Seunghun pulled the trigger, nothing happened.
“What the—?! What the fuck!! Why isn’t it working?!”
The slide on the Glock 17 was slightly open with a casing jammed in the ejection port. Seunghun stared stupidly into the barrel, trying to understand what had gone wrong. In that instant, Kang Hyuk shot him twice in the leg.
Two muffled thumps. Seunghun screamed in agony, dropped the pistol, and collapsed.
Older-model Glock 17… He didn’t grip it properly and rapid-fired until it malfunctioned.
Kang Hyuk approached the screaming, bleeding man with his pistol raised, then suddenly lowered the muzzle.
No. It’ll be better if those guys finish him instead of me.
Leaving the bleeding Seunghun behind, Kang Hyuk exited the office. Seunghun screamed after him in utter despair.
“Aaaargh!! Fuck!! Uaaaaagh!!!”
At that exact moment, Jaehyuk, Jeonghan, and Jihun entered the executive office. Their eyes locked onto Seunghun, who was writhing on the floor, blood pouring from his leg. All three glared at him with pure murderous intent.
