SIUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
I couldn't show it off.
These goddamn goblins are stupidly fast.
And they hurt.
The spot where a goblin's club had landed was throbbing.
"Kyaaaaaaah!!!"
"Shut up already!"
I dodged a goblin that had closed right in on me and brought my club down on its head. The thing looked like it was about to react, but my club was faster.
CRACK!
Three goblins left.
I glanced at the chat for a second, then turned back toward the goblins.
So what, I'm not a girl, so I'm not gonna cry after one hit?
Wait. No. I am a girl.
I used to be a guy, but right now I was definitely a woman. How I confirmed that is a secret.
Got hit by a truck, opened my eyes in another world, and my body was a woman's.
Absurd as it was, it had happened to me. In a normal web novel, a situation like this would pad out five whole chapters of pure philosophical angst — but I'd already reached my conclusion last night.
Fuck it. Who cares.
This body had no past records, so there was no way to find out anything. No parents, no friends, no school — she'd taken the GED. I'd checked online. With nothing left to dig up, I'd given up investigating this body's history.
I'll just live as a girl.
I hadn't even known how to put on a bra properly, but I had to get used to a woman's body now. Even so, the way my chest bounced every time I moved was still hard to adapt to. I'd take it slow.
With those thoughts running through my head, I dropped the last remaining goblin.
"Cut!"
"But I still failed the mission."
The no-hit clear mission against the goblins was a failure.
Wait. Hold on.
I hadn't failed yet.
IPulledOutAMountain has issued a 100 Coin Mission!
📍 Objective: Stage 1 No-Hit Clear
⏱ Time Remaining: 48 min 32 sec
"Alright, your exam results are in. Your Stage 1 clear score is…"
"Hold on."
I cut off the Association staffer who'd come over to deliver the results.
"Can I take this again?"
"Excuse me?"
"I want a retest."
There was still plenty of time left on the mission. Meaning I could keep trying until the clock ran out.
"I don't like my results. I can retest, right?"
The staffer looked flustered at that.
"Well, it's possible, but…"
"Then I'd like to go right now, please."
I finished speaking and prepped for combat again.
"This time'll be different. Going full sweat mode."
"No backseating. Backseat ban."
This kind of thing only tastes right when you clear it yourself.
The goblins came out again.
"Hooo…"
Last time I'd charged in from the start and taken a hit. This time I'd pick them off slowly, starting with whoever came at me first.
I'd learned that from the previous fight.
"Kieeeeek!"
One goblin charged me. They were small, but their strength and speed were on par with an adult man — meaning even regular people could hunt them if they fought well enough. As an Awakened, I could obviously put them down even easier.
CRACK—!
I caved its skull in with one swing. During the first exam, I'd gotten careless, missed my attack, and taken a goblin hit for it.
"Cut!"
One down.
They weren't idiots either, so they gradually widened their encirclement and came at me all at once. Last time, I'd taken another hit right here.
Block, then dodge.
Two of them attacked almost simultaneously — but not exactly simultaneously. I blocked the faster one's strike, twisted my body to slip past it, stomped on the one that had lost its balance after missing, and smashed the blocked one's head.
CRACK!
I finished off the one under my foot, then reacted to the next wave charging in.
I couldn't even look at the chat. Against the orcs I'd had a weapon advantage and other hunters around, so there'd been room to breathe — but now I was alone against all ten of them.
Focus.
I was clearing this mission no matter what. With that mindset, I steadily whittled the goblins down.
Until only one remained.
I dodged its attack and swung my club into the back of its head.
CRACK!
The sound of its skull splitting rang out as it vanished, and every last goblin was down.
"Fucking goblin bastards — cut!"
I hit the success button on the mission window, and a success notification popped up with the sound of fireworks going off.
Honestly, even I hadn't expected to fight this well. Back in my original world I hadn't been a total klutz, but my only martial arts experience was taekwondo in elementary school. PE had been average at best. I'd gone to the gym just enough to stay alive.
Is moving exactly the way you picture it always this good?
It felt great. The rush that didn't fade even after the fight ended, the pure satisfaction of clearing the mission — it thumped in my chest. I needed to express this surging feeling somehow.
So I did.
I threw my weapon on the floor and sprinted to the center of the exam hall. Then I jumped, crossed my arms into an X, flung them open, leaned my body back, and roared.
"SIUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!"
A perfect landing. A textbook celebration pose if there ever was one.
The chat exploded, and donations poured in. Just a reaction I'd done because I felt good, and everyone was eating it up.
Did this world not have Ronaldo?
"Guys, do you not know the soccer player Ronaldo?"
What? No Ronaldo?
Then what the hell was Primate GOAT? Wasn't Primate GOAT Ronaldo?
"Anyway that reaction just now was fire too"
"Thanks for the donation."
Gotta say thanks at least.
"…Ahem."
A cough came from right beside me.
"Ah."
Fuck.
Caught again.
Explanation time resumed.
"I didn't want to do it, but a Constellation said they'd give me Coins if I did. I absolutely did not do that of my own free will…"
The chat was on fire, but I cleanly ignored it. Those bastards weren't exactly innocent either. They typed the most unhinged shit in chat and I still put up with them.
"Well, that can happen."
He seemed to believe me, at least. The man spoke with a look of bone-deep exhaustion.
"Anyway, your exam results are in."
He checked the paperwork and continued.
"Stage 1 exam result: pass. You actually passed the first attempt too."
Of course I'd passed. There was even a saying that if you couldn't clear this, you were disqualified as a hunter. Hadn't someone said the Constellations would pity-donate Coins if you failed?
Come to think of it, I never bought a Growth Scroll either.
I'd only bought streaming-related products — nothing invested into actual growth.
I should buy some later and make a stream out of using them.
The Coins I'd stacked up so far already exceeded 1,000. Growth Scrolls cost 50 Coins each, so I could buy twenty and still have some left over.
Come to think of it, there'd been other items besides Growth Scrolls. I remembered seeing elixirs and stuff too.
Eh, I'll decide on stream later.
There was no reason to buy a scroll right now anyway. If I was going to, I should've bought and used it before the exam. I'd planned to grab one immediately if I failed the mission again this attempt — but I'd succeeded, so there was no need. I'd figured this exam would be easy since I'd one-shot the orcs too, which is why I hadn't bought any in the first place.
Anyway, I cleared it, so that's a W.
In a good mood, I left the exam hall and headed back to the Association lobby. Next stop was the settlement office — I needed to go there to collect the bounty for clearing the orcs that had come out of the Sudden Gate. The magic stones I'd gotten from taking them down could be cashed out here.
"Th-this much?"
"Yes. For Sudden Gates, the fees are waived, and there's a separate reward on top."
I had money.
A lot of it.
