Into the Prison Nightmare
"So, what's the game like anyway? I heard it's a horror game..."
Just like erotic stories have their harem tales, netorare, and gender-reversal stuff, horror games came in all varieties too. From classic jump scares with ghosts popping out, to inexplicable phenomena, zombies, cannibals—you name it. So where did this Prison Nightmare fall on that spectrum?
Curiosity got the better of me, and I tossed out the question. Surprisingly, it was Soria who answered. Clearing her throat with a dramatic "Ahem!" to grab everyone's attention—like it was her solemn duty—she launched into the basic backstory of Prison Nightmare, the game we'd soon be playing.
"You'll get it naturally from the intro video once we start, but basically, it's about a prison packed with only the worst criminals, where a string of suicides starts happening. The government gets suspicious and sneaks agents in to investigate."
"So we're the agents sent by the government, right?"
"Yeah, exactly. Probably one guard and two prisoners or something like that?"
Soria casually divvied up the roles as she spoke. "I'll take the guard character. You two do the prisoners."
Once we'd hashed out the basics like that, the eternally long loading screen finally wrapped up, and the main menu appeared.
"Ah, shit..."
A groan slipped from Sena's lips right then.
Thanks to Sena's special setup, I could check the incoming chats without even going to the streaming PC. I'd glance over now and then, and damn, some of these were too good to ignore.
"What, Sena, you've cried playing games before?"
At my question, Sena—who was grimacing at the main screen showing the eerie prison—jerked like I'd hit a nerve.
Yeah, exactly like I'd nailed her on the spot.
"W-who said I cried...?!"
"Viewers say you did."
"I was just pretending to be scared. Pretending."
"Shut up, you guys...! You always trick me into horror games and cover the screen with Notepad so I only see the cam!!"
"Hah... ah shit... why does this prison look like that..."
"Okay, take the politics and sensitive stuff elsewhere... Let's get started."
"For real? Turn 'em off? Then you won't see your favorite oppa's face at all."
"Turn off or not?"
In the end, we turned the lights off. Honestly, it wasn't pitch black—plenty of light leaked from everywhere.
"Phew..."
With the lights out, was the tension ramping up? Sena's face looked even darker. Or maybe it just seemed that way in the gloom.
"Alright, sending the invite?"
"Yeah."
"Sure."
After a quick "hold on," we accepted Soria's invite, and...
This game contains numerous violent scenes and graphic depictions. Players with heart conditions or frail mental/physical states should exercise extreme caution.
The intro felt off from the jump. What the hell did they pack in there to slap a warning like that on the start screen?
"Ah shit... 'Frail players exercise caution'?"
And with that ominous warning, Prison Nightmare kicked off.
My character was named "Jane." As the name suggested, female, with shoulder-length brown hair and a scar on her cheek—but still pretty cute overall.
Handcuffed at the wrists, Jane boarded a bus with barred windows.
"American ones look like that, huh."
"Kinda unique. Like a school bus."
"Yeah."
As we chatted, the bus carrying Jane rolled down a road barren of buildings. It vanished off-screen, replaced by a rusty sign at road's end marking the prison.
The bus entered the all-gray prison, and a shotgun-toting female guard boarded the stopped vehicle. Fitting for a hellhole of vicious criminals, the guards lining the barbed wire looked downright savage.
As Jane headed toward the prison building, Sena's character finally appeared. I'd figured same-prisoner start together, but hers was already infiltrated inside.
Ooh...
Sena's character was your typical white horse princess type. Not super pretty, though. Average, maybe.
Sena joined right after me and quipped down at my character from hers.
"You came to save me...!"
"Nah, I got caught too."
"Ah, controls feel kinda clunky..."
"Don't we need to meet up anyway?"
"Maybe? Hang tight, I'll come to you."
"It's moving on its own?"
"Cutscene, I guess."
We were mid-chat like that when, under guard escort, Jane entered the building for processing—and a suspicious room appeared ahead.
Looks like... a changing room.
Yup. Jane stood before wall-mounted hangers and started undressing. The camera shifted to obscure her like it was modest, so I figured it'd skip...
Eh...?
"W-what the fuck is this!"
Modern games had way less censorship than I thought. The camera slid up instead, revealing Jane fully nude after stripping.
Ooh... damn... this is...
Like showing off tech advances, a hyper-realistic naked woman filled the screen.
"Ah, uh... this is... um..."
I faked some shock at the unexpected scene, forcibly looked away from the monitor, and asked Sena, "Sis... is this okay to show?"
"I-it's from the game, so probably fine..."
Good, no ban risk. Sena would know.
But I wasn't the only one thrown by the curveball. Sena's face flushed crimson, piercing the room's dimness—clearly not expecting fanservice mid-horror co-op. Soria sounded flustered too.
"K-kinda shocking...? Didn't know it was this kind of game...?"
Jane entered the tiled room, dragging all three of us into bewilderment. The real kicker came next.
I dunno if prisons actually do this, but the "contraband search" was blatantly explicit and embarrassing with mixed company watching.
Ah, no way...
They check there too? For real...? Classic America—no mercy for criminals.
The long-fingered inspection and Jane's humiliated grimace were so captivating I forgot to watch my gaze.
Then...
"Y-you... staring too hard, aren't you...?"
Sena called me out in a half-whisper, mortified even to speak.
Ah.
Realizing my slip, I glanced at chat...
They'd witnessed a "horny pretty boy"—something this world's common sense deemed impossible, a miracle in itself—and lost their minds completely.
