Completely Beasts, Sirius Team?!
Since I was a jungler myself, my game understanding was pretty high…
“Thank you so much for today, Shisho!”
Owen clenched his right hand into a fist and pressed it against the palm of his left hand. From what I understood, it was a martial arts salute, and he was bowing to me with deep respect.
“It was such a sudden request, but thank you so much for accepting!”
“I-it’s okay….”
Normally I only helped the Sirius team once every couple of months. But this time Owen had reached out saying he had questions about jungle, and since I couldn’t find any particular reason to refuse, I’d accepted.
“I really thought I could win at least once today, but it’s a shame. You’re incredible as always.”
“Puhuu…. Ah, you still have a long way to go, so keep working a little harder….”
“Yes! Oh, by the way, the director wanted me to ask Master…”
“But, um… being called Shisho all the time feels a little weird.”
“Ah, then should I call you Master?”
“…That sounds better.”
Honestly both options felt awkward, but it was still better than either. It would be way nicer if he just called me Noona like Aris or Rex did.
“Understood. Anyway, the director asked me to find out whether Master would be interested in coming to watch the spring season in person.”
“In person…?”
“Yes. Our spring season starts next week, and we drew the opening match. So he wanted to know if you’d consider coming to the arena to watch it in person…”
“I-I’m sorry….”
For a second I wondered if the director actually hated me. No matter how much I’d resolved to change, going out right now was still impossible….
“Ah, that’s perfectly fine! I figured you’d refuse. I was just asking on the off chance.”
“…I’ll cheer for you from home. Y-you can’t lose, okay?”
“Of course! Who do you think I learned from?!”
When he said it like that, it made me strangely embarrassed….
“Do you all watch NAK matches…?”
Um. More people were watching than I expected. In that case, it didn’t seem like a bad idea.
“I… I’m thinking about trying simultaneous NAK viewing. It’ll probably focus on the Sirius team, though….”
“It’s not like that…. Um, there is a reason, but it’s hard to explain right now…. It’s not that the Sirius team asked me directly or anything….”
The director had said it would be awkward if I revealed I was helping them. He’d told me he would explain the situation later, so please keep it secret until then.
“Huh? I-I’ve never even met Ga-eun-nim…. Anyway, I’m planning to do simultaneous NAK viewing….”
“…Honestly, watching PVP isn’t very fun.”
“Anyway, I plan to do simultaneous viewing next week when the NAK… Sirius team match starts…. If everyone enjoys it, I’ll keep doing it regularly….”
“I probably won’t…? Since I’m a jungler myself, my game understanding is pretty high….”
“Hmph. No matter how much you try to undermine me, the fact that my game understanding is high isn’t going to change.”
After all, they’d even offered me a play-coach position with the Sirius team.
The viewer count was much higher than usual. Was it because of the simultaneous tournament viewing? Yeah, that had to be the only reason.
“H-hello everyone….”
“For me, I’d like Sirius to win…. But this is my first time watching the league properly, so I’m not entirely sure…. The team they’re facing today is… A7, right?”
Um. I didn’t really understand all the details, but it sounded like the opposing team was impressive too. While I was roughly gathering information from chat, the arena erupted in cheers and the official broadcast began.
After the three men finished their introductions, information about today’s opening match between Sirius and A7 appeared on screen.
Just like the chat had been saying, it looked like A7 wouldn’t be an easy opponent. But Owen had promised they would never lose, so I had to believe in him.
The commentators continued their analysis for about ten minutes. Then they began showing the players’ determination and resolve for the upcoming match….
Was it really okay to say things like that…?
The chat seemed to be enjoying it immensely….
“Please delete all the parts where they’re insulting the players….”
The place that felt the heaviest tension was clearly Ga-eun’s provocation. When we had spoken before, I’d thought he was an incredibly polite person.
“U-um… they’re not actually fighting, right…? Saying things like that could hurt the other team’s feelings….”
“…Huh? Aren’t pro gamers supposed to compete purely through the game…?”
Many of the regulars tried to explain it to me through chat, but honestly I still didn’t get it. If they said all that and then lost, wouldn’t it be incredibly embarrassing? So the idea that even socially anxious people could become pro gamers really was a lie after all….
“Anyway… while I watch, I’ll logically explain why they’re making each decision….”
“Uuu….”
“They’re complete beasts, the Sirius team?!”
“That’s exactly right! It feels completely different from the Sirius we all knew!”
“Every single lane is playing like wild beasts! The moment they see an opponent they charge in and bite their throats!”
“The first set of the opening match ended in 20 minutes and 29 seconds with a GG!”
“I almost want to ask how their playstyle changed this drastically.”
“Exactly. When you think of the Sirius team, what image comes to mind? The team that trusts in the overwhelming power of their mid lane while the other lanes support, and Ga-eun repays that faith by sweeping the entire map from the center, right?! But this time it’s different! Every lane! Overwhelmingly! Crushed their opponents! Just like commentator Theo said—they’re complete beasts!”
…Huh?
