One-Sided Collab (2)
"N-no! Stay back! Don't come this way! Kyaaaaaaaaah—!!"
Tenta Tio, a member of V-Game Girls. The succubus who had descended upon the mortal realm was a VTuber whose content focused primarily on horror games.
Her gameplay was built on what could only be called 'horror immunity'—a complete eradication of fear. Yet now she was shattering her own concept with a scream so piercing it seemed to tear the air itself.
"Kyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah—!!"
The reason for her shrieks was the murderer striding toward her with slow, deliberate steps.
It was a terror she had never once felt in all her time playing Dead by Deadmoonlight.
The aura rolling off the killer—who dragged Tenshi by the scruff of her neck in her worm-like state—made one forget this was merely a game. The thick killing intent permeated everything.
Tio remained frozen even as the murderer hooked Tenshi’s neck onto the rope right beside her. She couldn’t move a single step. It felt as though her own chest would be pierced the moment she did.
Only after Tenshi’s neck was secured on the rope did Tio finally regain her senses from the chat’s frantic messages. She spun around and began to sprint.
Thanks to one of her equipped perks, Full Sprint, she put distance between herself and Myeong-yun at tremendous speed.
Yet her heartbeat refused to calm. Even though the distance between her and the murderer was clearly widening, the pounding only grew louder.
It took her a moment to realize it wasn’t a game sound effect. It was her own heart.
It hammered against her ribs as if her very instincts were screaming at her to flee.
She vaulted over windows at full speed, twisting her route to deny the killer any easy attack windows. Her mind raced to stay one step ahead of the Roar chasing her.
But the instant she glanced back to check his position—
"Kyaa!"
The murderer suddenly burst out from the front and seized her by the nape of the neck, hoisting her into the air. Judged as a surprise attack, she was instantly turned into a worm.
Even after over a thousand hours in Dead by Deadmoonlight, she had never predicted the killer’s route. Moreover, the eyes staring at her from behind that mask were nothing like the usual murderer.
The flickering gaze beneath the mask looked like one that had taken countless lives in reality.
"S-spare me, spare me! Please spare me—!!"
Forgetting she was live, Tio thrashed pathetically and begged for her life. She squeezed her eyes shut as tears and snot streamed down her face, genuinely believing she might die.
As if this place weren’t a game, but reality—
"……?"
Yet Tio soon felt a gentle touch brush across her cheek.
The Roar’s large, fluffy fingers wiped away her flowing tears before he hooked her onto the rope beside her.
Hanging limply from the rope, Tio remained dazed for a moment. Her brain couldn’t process what had just happened.
"…What?"
As soon as two generators had been completed, Myeong-yun had hooked both girls. He offered a small excuse.
"Games are meant to be enjoyed together, yet it did not seem you were enjoying yourselves. This Seat could not simply watch a child cry like that."
"……."
Myeong-yun merely offered a soft smile without answering. The viewers grew genuinely anxious.
"Very well. Let us go catch the rest."
Turning his back on the two figures dangling from their ropes, Myeong-yun headed toward the remaining survivors. Since one was already approaching this way, he decided to hunt the lone survivor first.
The chat erupted into a fierce debate among the viewers. Myeong-yun had grown used to their usual wrestling matches, so he gave a brief explanation for why he wasn’t guarding the hooks.
"Would that not make things too easy? This Seat wishes to enjoy the game a little longer."
Myeong-yun let out a small laugh and immersed himself back in the game.
In the blink of an eye he crossed to the opposite side of the map. He tapped a wall once with his hand, then located the lone survivor turning a generator.
"…This way."
Having quickly pinpointed Megane’s position, Myeong-yun pursued her. Yet when he arrived, Megane was nowhere to be seen—only a half-finished generator remained.
She must have fled in the meantime.
While the viewers searched for where she had gone, Myeong-yun moved first.
"If you were going to run, you should have done so much earlier."
Behind a pillar not far from the generator, Megane held her breath and attempted a stealth play. She planned to finish the generator once he left.
But Myeong-yun eerily found her exact location and shoved his face into view.
"Hiek!"
Startled by his sudden appearance, Megane screamed and fled in a panic. The speed boost from her Full Sprint perk let her gain distance instantly.
Myeong-yun, however, had no intention of letting her escape.
Besides the Roar’s predation skill, he activated another. The mobility skill that covered slow movement and allowed him to leap great distances in one bound—Leap—was used for the first time.
He had two charges.
With his hands clasped behind his back, Myeong-yun sprinted forward and sprang off the wall. Then he used Leap to jump even higher, straight toward the ceiling.
The moment he twisted mid-air and planted both feet on the ceiling, Megane looked back. Naturally, she saw nothing behind her.
Myeong-yun was clinging to the ceiling outside her field of view.
She could hear her own loud heartbeat, yet nothing was visible. Myeong-yun exploited that single instant of confusion.
He used Leap once more from the ceiling. Falling at tremendous speed, he reached out, grabbed Megane’s face, and slammed her straight into the ground.
After turning Megane into a worm just like the other two, Myeong-yun promptly hooked her on a nearby rope. Almost simultaneously, an alert sounded from the opposite side as someone escaped their hook. One, then two.
Myeong-yun immediately sprinted back the other way and spoke.
"From here on it may not be so simple."
The other side had likely figured out his playstyle by now. From the faint vibrations he sensed, two were grouped up healing while one was quickly moving away. Once the pair finished healing they would split up and focus on generators.
He was pondering which to chase when—
"Over here! Mr. Murderer!"
They had come looking for him first.
Midorino Clover—the most skilled survivor among them—appeared before Myeong-yun, green hair fluttering dramatically.
"I don’t know how you took down the others so fast, but I won’t be that easy! Midorino Clover shall face you naturally with the power of a druid!"
"Druid? …A shaman, perhaps?"
Although auto-translation was active, it wasn’t perfect, so the speech sounded slightly unnatural. What exactly did “face you naturally” mean?
In any case, communication between killer and survivors was one-way. Myeong-yun’s words would not reach them.
"Still, since you have provoked me, I suppose I must accept."
The correct answer here was to ignore Clover and chase the others. Those who had escaped their hooks were injured; one hit would turn them into worms immediately.
However, Myeong-yun was not the type to avoid a fight that had come to him.
Having provoked Myeong-yun, Clover immediately turned and began to flee. He was fast, as if proving it wouldn’t be easy to catch him. He cleverly used terrain to vanish from sight in an instant or engaged in mind games around structures.
"Right side! Left side! Where could I be? Druid power! Try to guess!"
His taunting while hiding behind obstacles was so ridiculous it was almost pitiful to watch him desperately buy time.
Yet Myeong-yun refused to play along with Clover’s antics. He had only watched for a moment because the behavior was amusing for the viewers…
"There is no clown quite like you."
With a faint chuckle, Myeong-yun lightly leaped forward, hands still clasped behind his back. He kicked off a wall and jumped toward the ceiling, instantly leaving Clover’s field of view and occupying his blind spot.
The tricky movement—rarely seen in Dead by Deadmoonlight—made Clover freeze for a split second.
Myeong-yun was about to end it there, but Clover had one hidden card left.
"Druid Flashbang!"
What he pulled from his pocket was a flashbang—one of Clover’s perks that temporarily stunned the killer.
Good, this will stop him for a moment and I can gain distance again…!
But things did not go as Clover planned.
Myeong-yun burst through the pure white flash with his eyes closed. He flew straight at Clover, grabbed his head, and slammed him into the ground.
Unable to react to an attack that came through the light, Clover was turned into a worm with a single blow.
When Myeong-yun lifted the worm-like Clover, he thrashed and shouted.
"Wait, how did you do that just now?! Getting hit by a druid flashbang is supposed to stun you no matter what! I’ve been hit by it before, you know?! Your vision goes completely white and your body shakes! Are you a hacker?!"
"This Seat hears the word ‘hack’ quite often these days. Even if the eyes cannot see, are there not many other senses to replace them? If balance is disturbed, one simply needs to recalibrate the senses anew."
Though no answer would reach the survivor, Myeong-yun gave a brief explanation for the viewers’ sake.
Myeong-yun hooked the thrashing Clover onto a nearby rope and clasped his hands behind his back once more.
"Now, let us finish this."
