The Goddess Spoke to Me
Gu Yeonwoo. Twenty-two years old. After finishing my military service and returning to university, I had no friends. It was only natural. In truth, I had barely enrolled before leaving for the army and was only now coming back, so aside from the classmates I hadn't seen in two years, there was no one I could possibly know. Not that I had been particularly close with them to begin with.
Still, the fact that no one had spoken to me for days stung. I even wondered if it was because of my unusual white hair. But then I saw a male student with far flashier golden hair laughing and chatting with a whole group of people, and it clearly wasn't that.
Why? The question felt strange even to me. I had turned it over in my mind more than once when I was alone, but no answer ever surfaced.
Then one day, I was walking back to my studio apartment alone, just like always.
“Haah…”
Even a small sigh like that had become routine.
I was busy wondering how on earth I was supposed to make friends when a clear, beautiful voice called out behind me.
“Gu Yeonwoo, right?”
I lifted my head. The voice sounded vaguely familiar.
“...?”
For a second I thought she must have mistaken me for someone else and looked around, but the street was empty. A heavy silence hung in the air.
She’s talking to me?
The situation was so absurd that my mouth fell open. I could only stare at her in a daze.
Black hair spilled like silk over her shoulders. A simple white turtleneck, blue jeans, and a beige coat somehow looked radiant on her. Her figure was so perfect that my eyes kept drifting back to it no matter how hard I tried to look away. The faint smile on her lips and those vivid, jewel-like red eyes were almost too much to meet directly.
“Do you know who I am?”
“Shin Hari… senior…?”
There couldn’t possibly be two people with that kind of goddess-level beauty, yet I still stumbled over the words, unsure.
“Yes. That’s right.”
Shin Hari. Twenty-four years old. A fourth-year student in the Business Administration Department and the undisputed goddess of our major. Her appearance called to mind a lone flower blooming at the edge of a cliff. Excellent grades, rumors of serious wealth; she was the real-life embodiment of someone who had everything.
“I’m Shin Hari.”
Even her name sounded beautiful.
“Yeonwoo-ya, let’s get close, shall we?”
“...”
...
The goddess had spoken to me.
