Meeting the Boy as a Barbarian (7)
The barbarian known as Molkan stared at me, his upper body completely exposed.
In his hand, he gripped five severed heads.
The blood-soaked Molkan ignored Jack, who was chattering in front of him, and continued to stare at me.
His eyes were filled with the predatory gaze of a hunter searching for prey.
“Pull out your eyes. You can’t even open them properly?”
I raised my middle finger at Molkan, but sweat trickled down my back.
I could instinctively sense that this guy was strong.
It wasn’t the barbarian’s survival instinct, but the instinct of a living being warning me.
This wasn’t something I could challenge right now.
Run away immediately.
But the barbarian’s instinct overpowered that whisper, telling me that running would mean death.
Trusting the barbarian’s instinct over mere survival, I looked at Molkan as boldly as possible.
“Huu...”
Molkan lifted the corner of his mouth as he looked at me.
Mockingly, or perhaps with a hint of admiration.
As his gaze changed, Molkan threw the head he was holding and brushed his disheveled hair back.
With his wild hair flowing back, his eyes burned with killing intent.
In the face of Molkan’s eyes that seemed ready to pounce at any moment, I tensed my entire body.
“Molkan! Molkan! What the hell are you doing?! Kill that! Kill that barbarian! Do what you were paid for!”
Unlike me, who was extremely tense, Jack seemed unaffected by Molkan’s influence, and he casually hit Molkan.
While listening to the thudding sounds from Molkan’s blood-covered body, I and Molkan glared at each other without moving.
As Jack’s shouts and the hitting sounds continued,
“Wooaaar—!!!”
Both of us roared simultaneously as if we had made a pact and charged forward.
“Kuaaaak!!!”
Jack in front of Molkan screamed pathetically and was sent flying far away.
But neither Molkan nor I ignored the screaming Jack as we swung our weapons at each other.
“Kyaang—!!!”
The clash of greatsword and axe echoed through the 6th floor.
“This bastard...”
With just one clash, I could tell.
Strong.
Despite my physical stats being at a level not even floor 6, Molkan received my attack without any effort.
“Kruh...!!”
Creak...!!
When Molkan exerted strength, I began to be pushed back. The greatsword that had been gradually retreating as if he was holding back earlier.
Since I had never been pushed back by strength as a barbarian, I was momentarily taken aback, but I immediately pulled the greatsword back.
The method I had often used here. All the opponents I had faced so far had fallen for this.
Molkan was different.
“Bang—!!”
“Kueup...”!!
As soon as I pulled the greatsword, the guy immediately dropped the axe and reached out to slap my head.
I was on the verge of losing my mind from the soul that was sobbing as if understanding the feelings of the guys who got hit by me.
But I quickly composed myself. Then I threw the greatsword and immediately swung my fist.
“Bang—!!”
My fist struck Molkan’s face with a loud noise, exacting revenge.
“KHAHAHA!!”
Feeling good from the hit, Molkan burst into laughter and swung his fist again.
Aiming for the head.
I immediately raised my shield against the flying fist aiming for the head again.
“Bang——!!”
Crack— The shield cracked.
Without time to be surprised that my head endured but the shield didn’t, I immediately launched a kick.
“Crack—!!”
My leg that struck Molkan’s side exactly like a whip imprinted a red mark on his flank.
“KHAHAHA!!! Good, really good! Feeling like I’m alive for the first time!”
“Insane bastard...”
True barbarian Molkan, saying that was good, continued the exchange without backing down an inch.
“Crack—!!”
The second blow shattered the shield.
“Bang—!!!”
Taking advantage of the broken shield, I punched the guy’s belly.
“Thud—!!”
Molkan who endured my blow this time struck my side as if it was his turn.
“Wooaaar—!!!”
“Uwaaaak—!!!”
Two barbarians who never backed down, exchanging blows.
Their brawl soon summoned new arrivals.
“Keruruk...!!!”
Mantises.
If the 5th floor had been a solo for goblins, this place was a paradise for insects.
This monster that had enlarged the mantis was famous for tearing human bodies with its scythe-like front legs and then eating them.
This monster, seeing the two barbarians reflected in its compound eyes, drooled, and in an instant closed the distance and charged.
“Keraaak...!!!”
With a low cry, the mantis charged. The guy quickly flew and swung its front legs horizontally to split the two.
“Shit...!”
Dangerous.
If I ignored the fist flying right in front of me, my head wouldn’t remain, and I couldn’t ignore the mantis’s attack either.
One of them had to give up.
And I judged that it was Molkan’s fist, and as I turned my body to block the mantis’s attack,
“Don’t break the mood, bug.”
Molkan stepped in and received the mantis’s attack with his bare body.
“Crack—!!!”
“Kiaak...?”
Even a person in leather armor couldn’t easily bisect the front leg that split the person in half, and it didn’t pierce Molkan’s skin.
The mantis tilted its head curiously.
“Huuup—!!”
“Crack—!!”
“Kea yaaak—!!!”
The mantis’s front leg was pulled out as is.
Squirting green blood madly, the mantis writhed in pain.
“Shut up!”
Molkan slapped the mantis’s head with the pulled out front leg.
“Crack,”
With the sound, the mantis hit by its own front leg lost its head and collapsed to the ground.
Red blood washed away, and Molkan was stained with the mantis’s green blood.
He tore off the mantis’s front leg and ate it raw.
“Insane bastard...”
This guy doesn’t have the specter like me.
The work of engraving the specter can’t engrave the same specter.
So, the reason this guy eats the mantis’s front leg is purely to fill his stomach.
Tired of the true barbarian’s antics, Molkan ate the mantis’s front leg and grinned.
“Hu, what? You want to eat it too?”
Molkan offered the mantis’s front leg saying if you want to eat, I’ll give it.
I was just staring, not knowing if this was a peace gesture or to feed me.
“What? You don’t eat if you didn’t hunt it? KHAHAHA! Little one has spirit! Has spirit! I like it!”
Molkan interpreted it alone and laughed for a long time.
While Molkan was laughing, I just watched the scene without doing anything.
“Insane...”
No wounds on the body.
Despite fighting me in a brawl, with upper body exposed, attacked multiple times.
Molkan’s body had only green blood, no wounds visible.
“Kruh, it’s been a while seeing a pleasing young fellow. What’s your name?”
“Barca.”
“Barca! Yeah, that’s Barca, right? It’s been a while hearing that name!”
While Molkan nodded at my name, I realized that Molkan was calling me a young fellow.
No, can barbarians tell each other’s ages?
I can’t tell age from Molkan’s face, but how does this guy know? I asked curiously, Molkan answered refreshingly.
“Yeah. Looks about thirty, that’s still young.”
No.
With a frown, Molkan coolly ignored my reaction.
“Barca. You have quite a spicy punch. Impressive for your young age! Yeah, a fellow like you should be it! Yum! It’s been a while since I properly greeted.”
Insane.
Was this a greeting?
My full-power attack was just a greeting to this guy.
With such a huge difference, I was on high alert, Molkan waved his hand saying he no longer wanted to fight.
“Don’t worry, young warrior. I just came because I was worried about you. I heard that when you go out of the dungeon, you look for guys who kill fellow barbarians, so I came to check. If there’s danger, I should help, right? We’re fellow barbarians.”
“Considering that, when I was ambushed, I didn’t take any action.”
“Haha! I thought fellow barbarians could handle it on their own.”
“Bullshit.”
This guy, Molkan, if I died to those guys, that would be it.
The killing intent in the first glance was probably reproach for missing such things.
But since I didn’t think Molkan would believe this truth, I asked something else.
“So, what are you going to do now?”
“Hm?”
“You came to hire that guy, right? But if you don’t kill me, isn’t that a contract violation?”
“Ah, were you thinking about that? Not like a young fellow.”
Molkan said that and strode to pick up Jack who was lying on the ground.
“U, uuh...”
Jack who was still unconscious because he was thrown far.
Molkan, with one arm lifting Jack, swung the front leg of the mantis he was eating.
Then, Jack’s neck was cut in an instant.
A futile end for a man overflowing with ambition to become the ruler of the back alley.
“So, is this okay?”
“Hah. Yeah, it’s okay.”
Insane bastard, this.
Thinking that with no employer, no problem?
First time seeing fellow barbarians other than Martina, but as expected, crazy.
Because I was smiling at me, it was because I reached his standard, otherwise I would have died.
While waiting anxiously for what Molkan would do, Molkan turned his body saying his business was really over.
“Then, Barca, see you later! Next time I meet, I’ll buy you alcohol! Expect it! Hahaha!”
Molkan kicked the ground and disappeared from sight in an instant.
Watching him, I let out a deep sigh.
“Fuuu...”
I was almost killed.
I could have handled El’s betrayal and Jack’s trap alone.
But this wasn’t it.
Molkan was a living disaster to me.
I knew my power was sufficient even on floor 6, but it wasn’t enough.
“I need to get stronger...”
And thinking I need a reliable companion.
I found the portal out of the dungeon and came out.
