Jeez, man. I know that he’s being annoying, insufferable and all that, but did he really deserve death? And Yue Ling will do it too. Remember, she’s a warrior in the magical world, so she truly doesn't have any qualms on killing people.
Also, I find dragons being hermits and introverts who just want to be left alone with their shinies to be quite funny. Too bad human greed knows no bounds, so they get hunted down for the treasures they dig up. Or even just for their ability to dig up treasures.
