Chapter Title: Floor 2. Sad Ghost's Request
-----------------------------------------------------------------
"Onahole... this thing's surprisingly tough to use in practice..."
In fights that started like this—getting ambushed before I could spot the monster first—summoning with the onahole was a real disadvantage.
Sure, I could try putting some distance between us to buy time for the item, but turning my back on those monsters in real life? That was no small source of anxiety.
Even as an addition from the Dungeon Gallery Pack, it seemed they hadn't gone overboard with making it ridiculously overpowered.
'Still, it's useful enough.'
In all sorts of ways.
"Ugh... speaking of which, what kind of spider weighs this damn much? Insects get too big, their joints shatter and they can't move—that theory's totally ignored in this ridiculously unrealistic game..."
I clutched my throbbing chest where the ghost spider had rammed me and grumbled as I stepped into the secret room.
The musty smell of a place long sealed off. Unlike the crude, piled-up passages, this one had intricately carved angel statues.
And along both walls, eight stone coffins in total.
Finally, right at the base of the angel statue looming over me from the front, a coffin twice the size of the other eight.
Atop that coffin sat a fresh bouquet of pure white flowers, as if they'd just been placed there.
"Oh. This is a sub-quest room."
⚙ SYSTEM NOTIFICATION ⚙ D.D. has quite a few NPCs. Not like a full-blown RPG, but compared to other roguelikes, there were plenty.
This genre could be brutal—sometimes neutral NPCs were nonexistent outside of shopkeepers.
Anyway, aside from a few you met descending the floors, the other NPCs gave players sub-quests under the guise of requests.
Rewards were story-hinting text and artifacts helpful for exploration, so finding and clearing them made the run way smoother.
And occasionally, secret rooms housed NPCs offering those sub-quests—those were called sub-quest rooms.
"Nine coffins... Sad Ghost it is."
The object layouts in these sub-quest rooms were always deliberate and nearly identical.
That let you guess the NPC even without meeting them.
'This room's a tomb dedicated to the ten-person expedition who sacrificed themselves to seal the dungeon entrance from swarming demons.'
From what I knew, as long as you were careful, there was no threat here.
Confident in my knowledge, I strode straight to the largest coffin under the angel statue.
The others held useful grave goods if opened, but that'd turn the Sad Ghost hostile, so best avoided.
Woooooooo—
As I neared the coffin, a low vibration like a wind instrument hummed, and the top of the angel-overseen coffin glowed pale.
Soon, a human form emerged.
Draped in curtain-like white robes, a translucent blue body, unidentified liquid dripping from the coffin, a face soaked in sorrowful tears.
Back in the game days, the Sad Ghost was just an egg-shaped, near-white blue dot.
"Please, grant my fallen comrade eternal rest." ⟨ Sad Ghost ⟩
"Whoa."
◇◇◇◆◇◇◇ The Sad Ghost was the leader of a ten-person expedition risen to block the dungeon.
But only nine coffins here.
The reason? Explained in the sub-quest text.
"We set foot into this devil's maw, fearless of death, to halt the godless horde that slaughtered the innocent. The devil's maw lived up to its name: endless demons, agonizing deaths. But with our great Father watching over us, we feared nothing." The Sad Ghost recited the familiar text aloud.
'What if I turned her into an onahole?'
Onahole Creation targeted non-enemies.
High chance it'd work on the Sad Ghost here, but what about the sub-quest?
Would it fail? Get rejected?
Fun dilemma at the PC, but pure distraction now.
"Yet beyond those countless horrors lurked something far more terrifying."
Dungeon Gallery debated this: final boss on 30F? Or MacGuffin as always?
I leaned MacGuffin.
By 30F growth, the eyeball freak was too pathetic.
The 29F guardian was the real final boss, consensus.
"My comrade beheld that horrifying end and went mad. Cursed to wander this demonic labyrinth as a specter harming the innocent—please, stop her."
📜 NEW QUEST 📜 Sad Ghost's Request: Subjugate the Specter
"Hmm."
The "comrade" was the named enemy called specter.
On certain sewer floors, stay 500+ turns and "Past Specter has discovered you" triggers—she pursues.
1 HP but filthy evasion, one-touch kills low-level players. Anti-camping mechanic, but required for Sad Ghost quest.
'Clear reward: she becomes another merchant.'
Normally suspicious merchants every 3F for GOLD spends. Help her, and smaller stock per floor.
Vital for true ending, considering the suspicious merchant's identity.
"Fine. For those big, juicy milkers, I'll stop your friend's rampage."
Staring at her dead-yet-plump, pretty tits—forgivable even if the specter grandma showed.
⚙ SYSTEM NOTIFICATION ⚙ [You have accepted Sad Ghost's request.] "Milkers...? No idea what that means, but if you stop her rampage, I'll follow and sell heroic aids."
'Fuck. She understood?'
Cold sweat trickled down my back.
With reality, NPCs weren't just yes/no—they comprehended my words.
Lucky she didn't know "milkers," or asking to pound her would've been disaster.
⚙ SYSTEM NOTIFICATION ⚙ [Past Specter has discovered you.] "Ah! This thick despair... my comrade comes! Hero!"
"I know."
Accepting triggers specter instantly.
No scroll or mage? High chance quest starts—and you die.
"All is futile—!" Drrrrrrrrrr—
A shriek like tearing filled the room as black mist phased through walls.
The mist coalesced into a figure.
A pitch-black frayed robe like night sky, razor claws shredding flesh on touch, red-glowing hate-filled eyes: the specter.
⚔ STATUS ⚔ 『Past Specter』 ⭐ Level: 10☆ ❤️ Health: 1/1 ■■■■■■■■■■ A destructive being formed by binding the soul of the dead with thick negative emotions toward the living. Its essence, made of spiritual matter, is extremely difficult to grasp. ⚙ SYSTEM NOTIFICATION ⚙ [You have learned about Past Specter.] Ectoplasm dripped from the specter, evaporating into black steam on the floor.
"Oh. You're a chick too? This sprite's impossible to parse. I thought the criminal was a dude."
"Even a hero of noble spirit can't stay sane beholding her form—why won't you yield—!" Kugugugu—
Her scream shook the eight heavy lids—except Sad Ghost's—vibrating them open.
Clatter—
⚔ STATUS ⚔ 『Resurrected Expedition Members』 ⭐ Level: 7 ❤️ Health: 40/40 ■■■■■■■■■■ Remnants of the past denied eternal rest even in death. Their struggles held no meaning. ⚙ SYSTEM NOTIFICATION ⚙ [You have learned about Resurrected Expedition Members.] Sad Ghost quest on 2F: three-phase fight definitive.
Kill specter with expedition minions on 2F, 3F, 4F.
Specter easy, but minions swarm—mess up, get dogpiled, respawn in starter village.
'But onahole the specter, skip all?'
500-turn specter respawns endlessly, no log.
With minions, "specter retreats temporarily," reappears next floor.
Onahole itemizes instead of delete— no specter spawn, all skipped?
Plus, windless robe fluttered, outlining curves.
Not Sad Ghost level, but ample tits and slap-worthy hips—tempting.
"That's doable."
Onahole Creation worked on magic/spiritual, not physical.
Proof solid. Just do it.
Judgment: 2 seconds flat.
Expedition hadn't risen fully—I kicked off, charging specter.
"I'll breed you as many times as I've killed! Ghost sow! Onahole Creaaaaaaaation!!!"
Thrust hand, MP drained instantly.
Fingertip: ectoplasm smoke feel, yet tangible.
⚡ SKILL ACTIVATED ⚡ Onahole Creation [Used on Past Specter]
⚙ SYSTEM NOTIFICATION ⚙ [You used Onahole Creation on Past Specter.] [Past Specter's health is full.] [Past Specter's health is at minimum.] [Past Specter has become an onahole.] [You have defeated Past Specter.] Kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii—
⚙ SYSTEM NOTIFICATION ⚙ [You obtained Lace Onahole.] "Jackpot."
Thud thud thud.
The expedition, skeletonized and stirring, flopped back into coffins.
Truly undead-friendly treatment.
