Chapter Title: Floor 1: Squeak Squeak, Skittish Rat
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Thankfully, even though my starting skills were a mess, the items in my inventory at the start were just as I remembered.
A single emergency ration and a bottle of water tucked into the worn backpack at my waist, along with some firewood for making a campfire and a few roots of unknown herbs.
These supplies were enough to hold out here for about a day.
Still, I knew staying put wouldn't get me anywhere, so I started moving.
'The map's randomly generated anyway, so wandering around blindly is all I can do... No map?'
The place I'd dropped into was a tangled underground sewer system.
Even as a D.D veteran, now that it was real, remembering every path without a map was impossible for a regular guy like me—no special forces training here.
Muttering to myself, wondering if speaking it out loud like the status window might bring it up.
"Map. Or should it be 'map'?"
⚙ SYSTEM NOTIFICATION ⚙ An octagon marking the cavern from before and a yellow dot for me. It was a rough sketch of a map—no fine details, but definitely a map.
"Good... No getting lost now. Since you're giving stuff away, toss in some OP gear too, you bastard."
I had no idea if that User ㅇㅇ(112.311) really threw me into this jacked-up D.D, but I couldn't help cursing anyway. Muttering deleted-parent curses with every step, I pushed through the damp darkness of the sewer.
◇◇◇◆◇◇◇ Step. Step.
Even moving carefully, my footsteps echoed through the air, carrying far into the distance.
With stealth skills this bad, a sneak build would get me spotted and beaten to death instantly.
'Stealth build on hold, then. Pure swordsman build... doubt I'd pull it off.'
Obviously, now that D.D was real, even a perfect build didn't guarantee I could actually perform it.
And as a 21st-century newbie adult with zero real experience, I had nothing fitting.
No proper workouts, no sword training, no magic.
All I had was this Onahole Creation skill I had no clue how to use.
What the hell use is an onahole in a dungeon? Throw them to fap the pursuing monsters?
Wah. Mommy, I'm a retard.
Still, judging from the description, a few potential uses came to mind.
"Clearing obstacles. Dealing with high-evasion enemies. Making and selling them."
If it could transform targets like a polymorph potion, it might actually be useful magic.
Of course, burning 25 MP on a sex toy—and not knowing what the onahole's abilities even were—was a problem. But a guy could hope.
"Magic probably needs a wand. Charm build for an animal farm? Odds are crap."
Even characters without magic could fire spells from staves with stored magic, so I should be able to too.
Onahole Creation was under magic anyway. Problem was, I had zero clue how any of this worked here.
'Normally you'd burn runs figuring it out.'
Couldn't die to test—no idea what happened on death. Roguelikes were games for a reason: fearless naked dives into info-void dungeons.
Squeak— squeak squeak—
A thin, high-pitched cry from a small animal mixed into the sound of flowing sewer water.
It sent chills down my spine.
'...That's definitely one of the sewer mobs.'
Glowing red eyes pierced the darkness, staring at me.
It emerged slowly: long snout, fangs sharp as honed blades, yellowed claws.
Hellspawn looks and stench.
Way too big for a rat.
⚔ STATUS ⚔ 『Giant Rat』 Level: 01 Health: 19/19 ■■■■■■■■■■ 【A massive rat inhabiting the sewers. A gluttonous creature with insatiable greed for anything edible.】 [You have learned about the Giant Rat.] "Kieeeek!!!!"
I bolted without looking back.
No way a rat came up to my waist? A bite would take my arm off, not just a finger.
"Domhwangcha—!!!"
I sprinted to shake the Giant Rat. Even delisted coins couldn't catch me!
◇◇◇◆◇◇◇ "Huff... huff..."
After running forever, the squeaking behind finally stopped. I caught my breath.
My parched throat screamed for water amid the dry mouth funk.
"Status. Short version."
⚔ STATUS ⚔ Health: 44/44 ■■■■■■■■■■ Magic: 26/26 ■■■■■■■■■■ Hunger: 61/100 ■■■■■■■□□□ Thirst: 43/100 ■■■■□□□□□□ Temperature: ◁■■■■■■■■□□▷ I wagged my dry tongue a few times, waited for my breathing to steady, then drank from the water bottle.
Gulp gulp—the sweet moisture sucked itself down.
After downing about a third of the full bottle, I felt alive again.
Would've loved to douse my steaming body, but drinkable water was precious here.
Water flowed in the sewer, but with rats and monsters around, drinking it meant high disease risk.
Last resort only.
'Died from that a few times.'
The running heat would drop soon in the cool sewer air anyway.
"Fuck... this ain't right. Rats that big? Someone hit the gym."
Biggest issue wasn't water, food, or temp control—it was how to kill monsters.
To descend floors, you had to clear the dungeon.
That meant killing enemies and looting.
XP was nice, but scavenging drops alone lacked resources.
"Won't drop in one hit... Hell, even in D.D it took two."
A level 1 player dealt 9-15 physical damage per hit.
Giant Rat needed at least two hits—three if unlucky.
9 damage required low-base weapons like daggers with 8 strength anyway.
"112.311, you fuck! I'll remember and block you!"
He'd cry rivers, regretting his gallery scam.
"But seriously, now what? Gonna be one of those 32% idiots who can't clear floor 1."
Facing a Giant Rat head-on? My guts couldn't handle it.
'Hunt for poison maybe.'
"Hrah—!!"
As I pondered poison darts or arrows for a poison build, a booming shout echoed off the walls.
Human voice. Probably one of the scattered criminals from the starting cavern.
Sewer floors 1-5: mostly Giant Rats, spiders, slimes.
Humanoids? Shopkeep, rare quasi-boss on 5, and scattered criminals.
Criminals had weird AI: hostile to players and monsters alike.
'Hence the trick: lure monsters to them, bail, then snipe the survivor for loot.'
Perfect for me now.
Guilt? Survive first.
Blame the modder for this prettied-up dungeon tease.
Muttering curses of downvotes per post, I headed toward the noise.
Finding the source was easy—my killer map pinged paths, and the shouts never stopped, like he was farming all of floor 1.
"Yahp—! Hahp—! Yahp—! Hahp—! Yahp—! Hahp—!"
Kieeek—!
Squeak, skree—! Skreeee!
There, a ragged-clothed criminal swung a double-headed axe at Giant Rats and spiders with weird kiais.
⚔ STATUS ⚔ 『Sewer Spider』 Level: 03 Health: 4/27 ■□□□□□□□□□ 【A massive spider in the sewers. Hunts prey directly instead of webbing. Degenerated eyes; relies on touch.】 [You have learned about the Sewer Spider.] "Come at me all at once—! I'll cleave you all!"
⚔ STATUS ⚔ 『Criminal』 Level: 08 [Status: Poisoned] Health: 17/46 ■■■□□□□□□□ 【A pitiful criminal tossed into the underground labyrinth for crimes. Ready to slaughter anything in sight to survive, but reality is harsh.】 [You have learned about the Criminal.] Two Giant Rats bisected, one Sewer Spider.
Considering he matched a fresh level 1 player's specs, he'd put up a hell of a fight.
But he was near death, poisoned, with three Giant Rats left.
'Jackpot?'
Come back for loot later.
I snuck away quietly, avoiding detection.
