Prologue
Trash.
If I had to describe my life in a single word, there wouldn't be a more fitting one than that.
Frankly speaking, I've lived my life so recklessly that if there really were a 'God' in this world, I'd have expected to be struck down by divine retribution by now.
A child who brings shame to their parents?
That was exactly me.
Back in high school, whenever my parents were called into school, I'd flip the teacher the middle finger, tell them to go fuck themselves, and storm out of the house.
My parents tried to set me straight, even resorting to the rod, but somehow, even by my own assessment, I was a hopeless troublemaker.
Rehabilitation was impossible.
Of course, I didn't commit any heinous crimes like murder or anything... but there are things a student just shouldn't do, right?
Like drinking alcohol in secret, or smoking cigarettes.
Or sneaking into places minors aren't supposed to enter.
The only saving grace, I suppose, is that I never stole money from anyone?
To begin with, my family wasn't exactly struggling, and since I'd been working part-time jobs here and there since middle school, I didn't really care about petty pocket change from other students.
'Hmm, looking back, it's not actually that bad, is it?'
If I had to point out my fault, isn't it just that I'm an idiot?
So, I didn't study at all when I was a student, and whenever I was told not to do something, I wanted to do it even more. I'd cause trouble, then get stubborn and prideful, refusing to apologize.
But I never once thought of it as a serious issue.
Virtue rewarded and vice punished, karma?
I thought they could go fuck themselves.
There's no way something like God exists in this world.
Don't you think?
Otherwise, it wouldn't make sense for a guy like me—who didn't study hard and lived life recklessly—to be eating better and living better as an adult than the guys who lived diligently.

Even if I couldn't study, I was the kind of guy who could drive a luxury foreign car and live in a spacious, high-end officetel, doing whatever I wanted.
It was certain that it would have continued that way, had a sudden, bolt-from-the-blue problem not struck.
"Excuse me? What... did you say?"
The doctor uttered a shocking word to me.
"Erectile dysfunction."
Divine retribution, is it?
