I Have a Younger Sister
I have a younger sister who's one year younger than me.
Unlike my passive self, my little sister a year my junior was always proactive, loving anything that involved physical activity and movement.
Because she thrived on being active and on the move, she chose the Korea Military Academy over a regular university.
I have no idea how she's doing these days. It's been a little over a year since I last saw her face—no replies, no word at all.
Dragging my body, exhausted from group projects and part-time jobs, I made my way to my parents' house for the first time in ages.
“Ugh… I’m so tired… so tired…”
Without a driver's license, I couldn't take a car, so it took a full two hours of subways and buses to get there.
“I just want to lie down already…”
Why on earth had I decided to do this first thing on a weekend morning just to see their faces after so long?
Maybe I should have just stayed in bed like usual, reading Novelpia and healing my soul…
Hauling my weary body along, I crossed the gravel yard. Over in one corner of the yard, Nureongi, who'd been sleeping, pricked up his ears, spotted me, and came charging over.
Lick lick lick lick
The yellow dog we'd raised since I was a kid reared up on his hind legs and started licking my face with all his might.
“Hahaha, th-that tickles, Nureongi, st-stop it.”
Lick lick lick
Maybe it was because he hadn't seen me in so long, but he showed no sign of letting go anytime soon.
“Stop, stop, Nureongi. I’m happy to see you after so long too, so cut it out, okay?”
He'd grown so much in the meantime that when he stood up on two legs, he was practically taller than me.
After getting my face thoroughly licked by Nureongi in the yard for quite a while, I finally knocked on the front door.
Knock knock knock
The moment I knocked, I heard thudding footsteps from inside as someone came running to open it.
I quickly checked myself for anything Mom or Dad might scold me over, brushed the dog hair off my clothes, and waited for the door to open.
Click. Creeeak.
“Huh…?”
“.....”
When the door swung open, it wasn't Mom or Dad standing there. Completely contrary to my expectations, someone else had opened it.
My younger sister, Yoo Minhi.
Why was the little sister who'd gone off to the military academy—and hadn't so much as replied to me for a whole year—standing right here?
The short-cropped hair she'd cut when she entered the academy had grown out into a bob that now reached below her neck.
“M-Minhi?”
It had been a long time, sure, but she just kept staring straight at my face from the doorway, unblinking.
“Oppa…”
Minhi gazed at me with a pained look, calling me Oppa, then charged at me barefoot and threw her arms around me.
“W-wait a second!”
Minhi's ample breasts pressed firmly against me as she clung on, pushing me back a little.
“Ah, ah… Oppa.”
“Hey, Minhi, you can't just come running at me like that all of a sudden!”
“Whyyy…”
“It’s dangerous!”
For a moment I nearly toppled backward, unable to support her weight, but more than that…
Those full breasts of hers pressing into my body startled me so badly that I pushed her away from me.
“Then… is this okay…?”
Was this really the confident Minhi I knew?
The always lively, proactive Minhi seemed somehow changed—looking at her now, she just seemed drained of energy.
Then, after my warning not to charge at me, Minhi walked over slowly on bare feet, wrapped her arms around my waist, and hugged me tightly.
“Hooo… haaah… Oppa.”
“What is it, Minhi?”
“I just… wanted to call you that, since it’s been so long…”
Just what had happened during that year to leave Minhi looking like this?
