Chapter 23: Do a Collab Stream
Our jobs overlapped, but we still had work to do.
"Mining, right?"
"Mining it is."
Since things had turned out this way, Yebin and I decided to mine in the same spot.
This server had a structure where three jobs worked together organically.
Farmers grew crops, fishermen caught fish, and miners dug up ore.
They traded what they needed with each other, bought and sold, and enjoyed a peaceful slow life.
At the same time, events triggered by each job's work revealed the island's hidden secrets. That was the point.
Anyway, this was a post-apocalyptic world. Old-era relics could pop up anywhere—while fishing, farming, or mining.
So if Yebin and I were mining, it made sense to do it carefully in the same area. Whoever found a relic first, we'd both profit.
"Hey, DodoDodoDodo."
"Yeah?"
"If we find a relic, split it halfsies?"
"Okay, halfsies deal."
Yeah, halfsies sounded good.
Yebin and I headed to a collapsed abandoned mine and started digging into the ground with the basic stone pickaxes given to miners.
*Scraaaape*
*Scraaaape*
As soon as we dug side by side, the viewers started teasing us right away.
"What the hell is pure love mining?"
"What kinda nonsense is that?"
I answered Yebin's reaction casually.
"One of our viewers just said pure love mining."
"Wow, that's a grass-eating term I've never seen before."
"Tell me about it."
It was a grass-eating term I'd never seen before, and one I never wanted to see again. Dead serious.
"So how long do we gotta do this?"
"Once we get meaningful ore, we take it to the exchange and trade it ourselves. Like collecting iron ore."
"Can't we make it ourselves? Like turning iron ore into iron."
"Nope, it's blocked. You didn't watch the tutorial properly, did you?"
By the way, this server blocked most crafting recipes and production to control content consumption.
Only some job-specific recipes were open, so miners could basically only make pickaxes and torches—nothing else.
Get iron ore? You had to go to the blacksmith NPC, pay a fee, and have them smelt it into iron.
And that fee was some of your iron ore.
It felt like extreme slow life, but this kind of slow life was pretty nice. Crafting like that wasn't exactly dopamine-inducing anyway.
*Scraaaape*
*Scraaaape*
While we kept mining, I roughly checked my iron ore stash.
Thirty pieces. Not bad at all.
"ViniVini, how many you got?"
"Wh-what? I don't have anything...?"
"Iron ore. What I said."
"Oh... uh... iron ore...? Th-that... um... twenty!"
"That's all you got? What were you doing?"
"Hey! Twenty's still a lot!"
"I have thirty."
I said thirty, and Yebin's reaction was weird.
"Th-that's... good job...! Yeah! Good job, our Dodo...! Yeah!"
......Something was off with her. Really off.
Stuttering? Nah, she's not the sharpest, stutters all the time.
So what was weird? Simple.
"You found a relic."
There was no way she'd praise me so straightforwardly.
Normally she'd snap back with "So what?!" or "Congrats, asshole!" and rage at me brainlessly, but suddenly she's all intelligent and complimenting me?
She was definitely hiding something.
And in this situation, only one thing to hide.
A relic.
She found one and was keeping it from me.
"N-no, I didn't...?"
"I'm raiding your stream right now and checking the replay."
"You're banned."
"Sleeping pigeons, come out now."
Pigeons were viewers who snitched to another stream about what was happening here.
They usually ruined the vibe, so I banned them strictly—unbanned only after they posted an apology on the cafe.
But now? Time for pigeons. This was legal pigeon duty.
"Hey, wait...!"
"Someone tell me if she found a relic."
"Wife, Jin-gyeol fans, out."
I hit two with a one-minute ban, then turned on Yebin.
"Didn't you say it yourself? Halfsies on relics."
"N-no...."
"No protesting. You said it, why break it? Liar?"
"I'm not a liar...! I just... wanted to see it first...!"
"That's that, this is this."
"Ugh... uuuugh...!"
"Sorry or not?"
The second I said that, Yebin locked eyes with me for exactly three seconds...
*Patpatpat!*
And bolted.
Rude bitch, you're dead today.
I grabbed my sword and chased her.
"Hey, hey! Put the sword down! Sword dooown!"
"Vini, you shouldn't exist."
"Aaaah! Sorry! My bad! Spare me once! Just once!"
"Eat shit and die."
*Whack! Whack! Whack! Whack!*
Yebin started taking hits, but she wasn't going down easy—she drew her sword and counterattacked.
But me, DodoDa? A man raised on Dig Craft streamers back in my jammin days.
My skills dwarfed this fake gamer who started late.
*Whoosh!*
I dodged her attack and struck back.
*Whack! Whack!*
"You bastard! Bastard! Bastaaaard!"
"Aaaah! I'm dying! Really dying! Sorry! I'll sell it now! Sell and halfsies!!"
"Too late... die. I raised you wrong, you liar, Vini!"
"Sorrryyyy!!!"
"Pay with your lifeeee!!!"
*Smaaack!*
*Thud*
You killed ViniVini!
After Yebin died, I thought of her relic and dropped this line.
"This relic goes to her Wugyeol boyfriend."
Hearing that, Yebin couldn't hold back her rage.
"You crazy bastaaaard!!!"
I killed Yebin and took her relic. Obviously, traces were left.
I'd get suspected, of course, and dragged to trial without resisting.
But I didn't lose my smile.
This OP relic and Yebin's life were mine.
Swordplay felt good, btw. Kill her again? If not, oh well.
*
I stood in the courtroom, and Refu, playing judge, spoke from the bench.
"When I made this courtroom, I figured it'd get used maybe five times tops? In a two-week healing server, five crimes is a lot, right?"
"But you show up on day one with straight-up murder~ huh?"
"Hey~ Dogyung couple~ It was barely 30 minutes since you cut water with a sword last time, and now you do it again with a sword. You know that, right?"
I grinned ear to ear in response.
"Yessir~ Sliced it up again!"
"Why are you so damn smug about it?"
The second Refu sounded flustered, I jumped into my defense.
"Your Honor, this is Vini's fault for breaking our deal."
"I apologized!"
"Gotta pay the price."
"Shall we review the situation?"
Refu checked my stream replay of the incident.
After seeing it, Refu burst out laughing.
"Kuhp... khkh... puh... ahahaha... wait a sec... khkhkh... PUHAHAHAHA!! Ahihihihi! Caught on that... KHAHAHAHAHA!!"
Refu laughed till he was gasping, while Vini shook with embarrassment.
"Hey! We could've handled it ourselves!"
"Your Honor! Vini's trying to bribe me now!!"
"Khkh... khkhkh... Defendant. No, ah... KHAHAHAHAHA...! Khkh... Damn, you two are hilarious...."
Yeah, it was funny. A Wugyeol couple lies to each other, then kills over it as punishment.
"Wow, you guys are going down in Wugyeol history."
"Thanks. Thank you. Arigato. Xie xie."
"What thanks arigato xie xie, you psycho."
"Whoa, the corpse is talking."
"I respawned, duh!?"
As Yebin and I bickered again, Refu delivered the verdict.
"I wanna etch a line in that Wugyeol history too."
With that weird line.
And sure enough...
"Verdict for the pair: Reveal the relic info to everyone first. As for the sale proceeds!"
"...We'll use it for your newlywed house."
"Pardon?"
"What??"
For once, Yebin and I synced up perfectly with the same response.
"Do a collab stream, you two."
......Collab stream? As in, sharing the same room for broadcast?
But here, Refu was king and god. No defying that.
And so...
...Yebin and I half-forced into buying a newlywed house with the relic money.
"Fuck."
Yeah, total fuck.
