Chapter 5: The Contest for the Top Seat
Chapter 5: The Contest for the Top Seat
The classroom was very large, enough to hold eighty people. At the moment, only about half the seats were occupied. A blackboard stood at the front, and the walls were painted white. It seemed this would be the place where we would study from now on.
I found a seat in the back row and sat down. The Huo brothers sat beside me.
The bell rang, and a female teacher about twenty-six or twenty-seven years old walked in. She was not very tall and had shoulder-length black hair. Her appearance was elegant and refined, and she seemed very gentle. She cleared her throat first, then said loudly,
“Students, quiet down. Class is starting.”
Her voice was very crisp and unusually pleasant to the ear.
The teacher was actually so young, which surprised me greatly.
The classroom quickly became silent.
“Let me introduce myself first. My name is Zhuang Jing. From now on, I will be the homeroom teacher for this class. I will mainly be responsible for teaching magic-related courses. I hope everyone will cooperate actively, cultivate diligently, bring honor to the academy, and also bring honor to Class Six of the First-Year Magic Warrior program. If you have any questions about magic, you can come to me.”
This teacher seems quite approachable. Being able to teach freshmen at such a young age, she must have extraordinary strength.
“Now everyone will introduce themselves, starting from the first row on the left.”
The first student in the leftmost row was a girl.
If she had been a man, she would have been described as broad-shouldered and thick-waisted. She was about 180 centimeters tall, and her waist circumference seemed nearly the same as her height. Using a popular phrase to describe her—she looked like a globe.
She showed no stage fright at all. She stood up immediately and said,
“Hello, Teacher Zhuang, hello everyone. My name is Feng Juan. I have learned some fire magic and some martial arts passed down in my family. I hope we can all exchange knowledge in the future…”
(The following thousand words omitted.)
Good heavens. She was like a gossiping chatterbox, speaking endlessly.
Finally even Teacher Zhuang Jing could not take it anymore.
“Alright, Feng Juan. That will be enough. Next.”
Only then did the plump Feng Juan sit down unwillingly, clearly not yet satisfied.
Behind her was a very thin boy. Compared to Feng Juan, he was a striking contrast.
He stood up and said in a hoarse voice,
“My name is Long Zhuang. Please take care of me in the future.”
After saying that, he immediately sat back down.
Finally it was my turn.
I stood up and tried to keep my voice as gentle as possible.
“My name is Lei Xiang.”
Many of the girls in the class began throwing flirtatious glances at me when they saw my tall build and handsome face.
Normally that would not bother me, but when I accidentally caught the flirtatious glance from Feng Juan, I nearly vomited up yesterday’s dinner.
I suppressed the nausea rising in my stomach and quickly sat down.
The homeroom teacher seemed somewhat interested in me and asked further,
“Lei Xiang, what have you studied before?”
I had no choice but to stand up again. This time I did not dare look around and simply looked straight at Teacher Zhuang Jing.
“I have learned some boxing techniques and battle qi.”
“Oh? You haven’t studied magic?”
“No.”
“Then you must work hard from now on to catch up with everyone else.”
“Yes, Teacher.”
The Huo brothers then introduced themselves. Their identical appearances left a deep impression on everyone.
“Alright,” Teacher Zhuang Jing said. “Everyone has introduced themselves. I hope all of you will respect and care for one another, unite and progress together. Next, we need to choose a class monitor to help me manage the class. How do you think we should select one?”
A student named Wu De stood up and said,
“Teacher, as far as I know, every class in the academy has a top student. Why don’t we hold a competition to select the top student? Then that person can serve as class monitor. That way everyone will be convinced.”
Teacher Zhuang Jing nodded and smiled.
“That’s a good suggestion. Does anyone else have other ideas?”
Most of the students had no objections, and those who remained silent could not come up with a better method.
Teacher Zhuang Jing then announced,
“In the next class period, everyone will gather at Training Field No. 4. The class monitor will be selected through a competition. Class dismissed.”
I quietly asked the Huo brothers beside me,
“Can we abstain? What’s the point of being class monitor? It will affect cultivation.”
Huo Xing said,
“It probably won’t affect cultivation. I heard that if the class monitor maintains a good relationship with the teachers, they can learn more things from them. The academy has a group called the Heavenly Dragon Group. Only the top student of each class from the second year and above has the right to enter it. It’s said that you can learn deeper techniques there.”
“The academy has six grades, and each grade has about six classes, so the Heavenly Dragon Group should have around thirty members. They are the true elites of the academy.”
So becoming class monitor actually had advantages—at the very least, it might provide better learning opportunities.
It seemed I could not give up after all.
There was not much break time between classes. I followed the crowd straight to Training Field No. 4.
Training Field No. 4 was located behind the teaching building and was always used by students of the Magic Warrior classes.
The girls in the class were constantly whispering among themselves. From their faint voices, I could occasionally hear my name.
Subconsciously, I touched my face.
Am I really that handsome?
A few girls who considered themselves attractive even approached me, trying to strike up conversations and charm me with their looks.
But at their level, how could they possibly move my heart?
Each of them left after receiving nothing but a cold response from me.
At last we arrived.
Training Field No. 4 was located inside a large building. Surrounding it were five tiers of spectator stands, capable of seating roughly four to five hundred people. In the center stood a square arena about twenty meters long and twenty meters wide.
Teacher Zhuang Jing stepped onto the arena.
“Alright. We will now draw lots. Does anyone wish to withdraw?”
“Yes! Yes! Yes!”
More than half the students actually withdrew, most of them girls.
Teacher Zhuang Jing counted them and found that sixteen students remained.
After drawing lots, we were divided into eight pairs. Each pair would fight one match. The winners would advance, and the losers would be eliminated.
My first opponent turned out to be Huo Xing.
He gave me a helpless gesture.
“Lei Xiang, come on. Let’s have a match first.”
I nodded and stepped onto the arena first.
Huo Xing drew his longsword.
“I won’t hold back. You should give it your all too.”
“Come,” I said.
“Great Fire God, grant me your endless flames!”
As Huo Xing chanted, his sword gradually turned red and emitted waves of intense heat.
I remained standing still, waiting for him to act.
With a loud shout, Huo Xing rushed forward and swung his sword down fiercely at me.
I shifted my body slightly but did not dodge his sword.
The blade struck directly toward my shoulder.
Huo Xing clearly had not expected me to be so weak. He hurriedly tried to pull back his strength for fear of injuring me.
But the momentum was too great, and it was already too late.
The sword filled with fiery energy struck my shoulder with a dull thud.
In truth, from the strength of his attack, I already knew he could not hurt me. I had deliberately allowed him to hit me.
My shoulder only felt a slight burning sensation.
I smiled faintly at him, raised my left hand, grabbed his sword, and struck out with my right palm.
Huo Xing felt as if his sword had struck solid ice when it landed on my body. Once I grabbed the blade, it could not move at all. The edge of the sword, filled with fire-element energy, could not even cut through my palm. In his shock, he was sent flying off the arena by a single palm strike from me.
The entire exchange lasted only a few seconds.
Most of the force I used was pushing power, so he was not injured. After landing below the platform, Huo Xing could not help examining his sword. The blade had actually curled slightly.
He asked in disbelief, “Lei Xiang, what kind of technique is that? You’re not even afraid of being cut by a sword?”
I replied calmly,
“It’s not that I’m not afraid. Your strength just isn’t enough. Do you want to try again?”
Huo Xing shook his head.
“No need. I admit defeat.”
The students below the arena were stunned. No one had expected the first match to end like this. They all began to look at me differently, and I immediately became the favorite to win the championship.
Teacher Zhuang Jing announced,
“First match, Lei Xiang wins. Next match, Feng Juan versus Huo Star.”
I stepped down from the arena and patted Huo Xing on the shoulder.
“Be satisfied. You’re the first person to lose to me and still walk away unharmed.”
Huo Xing froze after hearing that. I ignored him and raised my head to watch the match on the arena.
Huo Star and Feng Juan were already fighting.
Feng Juan used a large hammer, swinging it with tremendous force. The heavy hammer moved in her hands as lightly as a feather. Fire magic was also imbued into the weapon.
Although her body looked heavy, her movement speed was not slow at all. Like a floating leaf, she moved swiftly around Huo Star, gradually forcing him into a corner. The strong wind generated by the hammer made it impossible for Huo Star to come within three meters of her.
He could only probe with his sword while releasing fire magic from a distance.
This fat woman really possessed extraordinary strength.
Huo Xing sighed.
“Is she even human? That’s terrifying.”
I said calmly,
“Your brother is about to lose. He can’t use his strengths at all.”
Sure enough, as soon as I finished speaking, Huo Star’s sword was knocked out of his hand by Feng Juan’s hammer. The hammer stopped just three inches above his head, frightening him until his face turned pale.
Feng Juan smiled proudly.
“You lost.”
She became the second person to enter the top eight.
It took only one class period for the top eight to be decided.
My next opponent was a male student named Luo Lei, who used a spear. From my observation, his spear techniques were tricky but lacked sufficient strength.
In the first match of the second round, Luo Lei and I stepped onto the arena after Teacher Zhuang Jing announced it.
Luo Lei said,
“You won too easily earlier. I won’t give you that kind of chance.”
I snorted coldly and did not respond.
“If he wasn’t holding back, then he underestimated his opponent. I won’t make the same mistake he did. Now let me show you what real skill is. Watch my spear—Star River Spread!”
With that, his twelve-foot spear produced countless shimmering points that rained down toward me. The name suited the technique well. The spear tip emitted sharp bursts of battle qi, and I could not even tell where he intended to strike.
His strength was indeed greater than Huo Xing’s.
I raised my arm to shield my eyes and circulated Heavenly Thunder Armor throughout my body. Powerful battle qi filled my clothing.
A faint stinging sensation spread across my body as Luo Lei’s Star River Spread struck me without missing a single blow.
I lowered my arm and looked at him coldly.
Luo Lei stared at me in shock and muttered,
“Now I understand how he lost earlier. You’re truly invulnerable.”
“I’m not invulnerable. Your strength just isn’t enough.”
Luo Lei said firmly,
“I won’t give up. Again! Steady earth, use your powerful force to pierce the enemy before you—Earth Spear Thrust!”
So he studied earth magic.
The ground beneath my feet suddenly shook, and a huge earth spike shot upward. I jumped backward. Although I avoided it, cold sweat broke out across my body. If that spike had struck me directly, even with my defense I could not guarantee I would escape without injury.
Just then, a second earth spike surged up.
Constantly dodging was not a solution.
I rushed forward with all my strength. Earth spikes burst from the ground behind me again and again. I narrowly avoided wave after wave of them. Though I avoided the main attacks, I was still scraped several times.
If it were not for my powerful defense, I would already be covered in wounds. But my clothes were completely ruined.
Finally, I rushed to within three meters of Luo Lei.
I leapt high into the air and shouted,
“Berserk Thunder Descends!”
This was the first time I had used the Thirteen Berserk Thunder Fists in combat since leaving the Beastmen Imperial City.
In the air, I carried an unstoppable aura. My huge fist grew larger and larger in Luo Lei’s eyes. He felt a surging, overwhelming power filling the air. It seemed that all possible escape paths were sealed by this single punch.
Luo Lei gritted his teeth and thrust his spear toward me with all his strength.
But when I leapt into the air, I already knew I had won.
No matter what he did, he could not block the full power of my fist.
My right fist, wrapped in powerful battle qi, collided with Luo Lei’s spear. A cracking sound rang out in the air.
Luo Lei was pushed off the arena by my immense force. His spear shattered into pieces and scattered across the ground.
If I had not withdrawn most of my battle qi at the last moment and converted the explosive force into pushing power, he would never have seen tomorrow’s sun.
I stood on the arena with my hands behind my back, carrying the aura of someone who challenged all heroes under heaven.
Coldly, I said,
“Now you should know how lucky you are. Sorry for destroying your spear.”
Luo Lei had not been seriously injured and naturally knew I had shown mercy. He retreated to the side resentfully.
Teacher Zhuang Jing blinked.
This Lei Xiang has incredible strength.Luo Lei’s Star Cloud Spear Technique already had some reputation before he came to the academy. He should rank among the top in this class, even in the entire grade. Yet he was defeated.
Just as she was thinking, I spoke from the arena.
“Teacher, shouldn’t you announce my victory now?”
Teacher Zhuang Jing snapped back to reality.
“Lei Xiang wins and advances to the semifinals.”
I jumped down from the arena. The Huo brothers immediately ran over.
Huo Star said excitedly,
“Old Lei, that was amazing! That punch just now was incredible. Looks like the class monitor position will definitely be yours. Teach me that move sometime!”
“My boxing technique doesn’t suit you,” I replied. “You should focus on improving your own skills.”
Huo Star looked disappointed after being rejected.
I ignored him and walked to a corner to sit in meditation.
The competition would finish in one day, so physical strength was extremely important. Although I had defeated Luo Lei, it had not been as easy as it looked. Those earth spikes had caused some damage, and the fight had consumed a large amount of my stamina.
If my next two opponents were both at Luo Lei’s level, becoming class monitor would not be easy.
In the next match, I absolutely cannot allow my opponent the chance to use magic. I must strike first.
I sat quietly, regulating the energy inside my body and gathering the scattered Heavenly Thunder Armor battle qi once again. I ignored everything happening around the arena.
After some time, I felt my battle qi gradually returning to its peak condition. I took a deep breath and stood up.
When I walked to the edge of the arena, I saw the end of a match.
Feng Juan swung her massive hammer and blasted her opponent, along with his sword, off the arena.
What terrifying strength.
Teacher Zhuang Jing announced,
“Feng Juan wins. The quarterfinals are over. Next are the semifinals. First match—Lei Xiang versus Feng Wen. Competitors, please enter the arena.”
My turn already?
It seemed I had been meditating for quite a while.
I walked onto the arena and stood to one side.
A gentle breeze brushed my face. My vision blurred, and suddenly there was someone standing opposite me.
What incredible speed.
My heart tightened.
This was Feng Wen.
He had a well-proportioned build and held a longsword in his hand.
Smiling, he said,
“I watched your previous match. I know you’re very strong, but I already have a way to deal with you.”
“Enough talk. Come.”
In order to prevent him from using magic, I attacked first.
My left foot stepped forward, my body shot forward like an arrow, and I threw a punch.
Powerful battle qi surged toward Feng Wen, the force whipping his clothes violently.
Just as the punch was about to land, Feng Wen suddenly disappeared.
My powerful strike hit nothing but air.
Not only was he fast, but his battle qi was also strong enough to escape from my battle qi field.
In the moment I hesitated, I felt a sharp gust of wind coming from behind me.
I did not dodge.
Instead, I turned and blocked the attack with my chest while throwing another punch.
A wind arrow struck my chest precisely.
But my punch hit empty space again.
Feng Wen stood on the other side of the arena and said in surprise,
“Your defense is incredible. You can even take wind arrows of this strength head-on.”
Feng Wen began circling me rapidly, constantly launching wind arrows and wind blades. He refused to fight me directly.
My punches struck nothing but air, wasting my strength.
The power of my Heavenly Thunder Armor battle qi was still too weak and could not extend far enough to threaten him.
Wait…
I suddenly realized something.
I could fuse dark magic into my battle qi—just like when I blocked my father’s attack before.
I stood at the center of the arena and allowed his wind magic to strike me.
My outer clothing was shredded even further, exposing my undershirt and the powerful muscles of my arms.
Meanwhile, I secretly observed his movement patterns while gathering dark power inside my body.
A cool, penetrating sensation filled my entire body, sharpening my senses.
At the same time, Feng Wen thought to himself,
If this continues, I might exhaust my magic and battle qi before breaking his defense. What is this guy made of? He’s so tough. I have to use my ultimate move.
With a loud shout, he yelled,
“Swift Wind Demon Wolf Sword!”
He gathered all his battle qi into his sword and accelerated himself with wind magic, charging straight toward me while spinning rapidly in midair.
Even when he was still five meters away, the sharp qi from his sword already made my skin sting.
If that strike hit me directly, even my defense would suffer damage.
I shouted,
“Good!”
Gathering the dark power I had prepared, I launched a punch straight toward him.
A stream of black-and-white battle qi shot out from my fist.
I refused to believe I would lose in a contest of strength.
Just as the two forces were about to collide, Feng Wen suddenly flipped sideways in midair and avoided my killing blow. His sword still continued stabbing toward my chest.
Using wind magic, he had changed direction. No matter how I tried to dodge, he could continue pursuing me.
At that critical moment, my mind suddenly became calm.
I clearly sensed the direction of his attack.
With a roar, I shouted,
“Berserk Thunder Shakes the Heavens!”
Facing his incoming sword, my fists exploded into countless shadows, sealing all his possible escape routes and forcing him to clash with me head-on.
Feng Wen clearly had not expected this technique. He could no longer dodge.
Gritting his teeth, he accelerated forward.
“Boom!”
Sword and fist collided in midair.
My strength had been dispersed across many strikes. Although my absolute power exceeded his, I still suffered a disadvantage.
The battle qi from his sword tore my undershirt and carved a half-inch-deep wound across my chest. Blood flowed down my torso, and the shock injured my internal meridians.
Panting heavily, I dropped to one knee, supporting myself with one hand.
This was the first time I had been injured since leaving the Beastmen Imperial City.
Feng Wen seemed slightly better on the surface, but he had also consumed enormous stamina. His sword had broken in half from the violent impact.
He also knelt on one knee, using the broken sword to support himself.
Inside his body, however, my powerful force had severely damaged his meridians. A cold sensation spread throughout him as he struggled to use battle qi to dispel the invading dark power.
I tapped several points on my chest with my left hand to stop the bleeding and forced myself to stand.
I staggered several times before finally managing to remain upright.
For the first time, I began to doubt my father’s philosophy of overwhelming strength crushing all techniques.
And for the first time, I realized the importance of skill.
Winning now would be extremely difficult. My stamina had been heavily depleted, and the wound in my chest caused stabbing pain whenever I moved.
Cold sweat soaked my undershirt.
Feng Wen also stood unsteadily.
“Do you still want to fight?” he asked with a helpless smile.
I gave a bitter smile.
“If you can still attack, then I’ve already lost.”
“Same here,” he replied. “Looks like Feng Juan will get the advantage.”
After saying that, both of us collapsed backward at the same time.
Teacher Zhuang Jing immediately jumped onto the arena. After examining our injuries and confirming that neither of us was in life-threatening danger, she let out a sigh of relief.
“Both sides severely injured? Quick—students, take them to the infirmary.”
Where am I?
The smell of medicine was overwhelming.
I forced my eyes open and tried to sit up, but the moment I moved, intense pain erupted from my chest, forcing me to lie back down.
My chest was wrapped in thick bandages.
Suppressing the pain so I would not groan, I turned my head slightly.
On the bed beside me lay Feng Wen.
This must be the infirmary.
I circulated dark power through my body to examine my meridians.
Several around my chest were blocked. Fortunately, Heavenly Thunder Armor had blocked most of the battle qi. Otherwise, if my heart meridian had been damaged, things would have been far more serious.
I slowly used dark power to clear the blocked meridians.
After an unknown amount of time, I heard someone enter.
“These two boys still haven’t woken up? It’s only for a class monitor position, yet they fought so desperately. If they want to fight like that, they should wait for the academy’s grand tournament. Now look—both of them ended up in the infirmary on the very first day.”
It was Teacher Zhuang Jing’s voice.
I felt a cool, small hand placed on my forehead.
“Good. No fever. There shouldn’t be any inflammation.”
A warm feeling rose uncontrollably in my heart.
Why is she so concerned about me? Is it simply because I’m her student?
Then Teacher Zhuang Jing’s anxious voice sounded again.
“What’s wrong with Feng Wen? His injuries shouldn’t be worse than Lei Xiang’s. Why hasn’t he woken up? Why is his body so cold?”
Most of my blocked meridians had already been cleared. I opened my eyes and saw Zhuang Jing sitting beside Feng Wen’s bed, her hand pressing on his head.
Weakly, I said,
“Teacher, he was struck by my Black Ice battle qi. Only I can remove it.”
In truth, of course, it was dark power.
“Lei Xiang, you’re awake. I’ve never heard of this Black Ice battle qi of yours before, but it really is powerful. How are you going to remove it?”
“Please give me his hand.”
The two beds were not far apart, only an arm’s length away.
I placed my hand on Feng Wen’s pulse and slowly drew out the dark power that had invaded his body. Strands of black energy gradually flowed from his hand back into my own body. Not only did I not feel any strain, but I actually felt the dark power within me becoming fuller. My spirit also improved somewhat compared to when I had first woken up.
“Teacher, he should be fine now. With some rest he’ll recover.”
“Your battle qi is quite strange. It seems only you can resolve it. I actually thought Feng Wen would wake up before you. Look at you two, fighting like your lives depended on it. Originally I intended to make one of you the class monitor, but now Feng Juan has taken the position. Save your strength for the grade tournament and win glory for the class. Why risk your lives fighting your own people?”
She really could talk endlessly.
“Teacher, how long was I unconscious?”
“One day and one night. On the very first day of school two students ended up in the infirmary. The principal gave me quite a scolding because of it.”
Zhuang Jing’s face showed clear annoyance.
One day and one night already. My poor Black Dragon must have gone hungry again.
“Teacher, could you take me outside for a moment?”
“What for? Your injuries require proper rest.”
“I have a horse in the academy stable. I want to feed it. It hasn’t eaten anything since yesterday.”
Teacher Zhuang Jing said briskly,
“Alright, you rest. I’ll feed it for you. Honestly, I’m always cleaning up after you students.”
She stood up and prepared to leave.
“That won’t work, Teacher. My horse only eats food that I feed it. I’m afraid you won’t be able to feed it.”
Zhuang Jing frowned.
“Why is it so troublesome? Fine. Wait here. I’ll find a wheelchair and push you there.”
She was quite capable. Before long she brought back a somewhat worn wheelchair.
I tried to sit up, but pain shot through my chest and I fell back onto the bed.
Teacher Zhuang Jing said,
“Alright, I’ll do it.”
She lifted me straight off the bed. A fresh fragrance came from her body, making me slightly dizzy. She was only a little over 1.6 meters tall, while I was two meters tall, so physical contact was unavoidable. The soft sensation stimulated my nerves.
Zhuang Jing saw my intoxicated expression and immediately put me down in the wheelchair. She knocked my head with her knuckle and said angrily,
“What are you doing? Are you feeding the horse or not?”
Little pervert taking advantage of me.
Her face flushed red. Looking at my tall, strong body and handsome face, her mind wandered for a moment.
What’s wrong with me? He’s my student.
Of course, I knew nothing about her internal struggle. The pain on my head snapped me back to my senses.
“Ah! Sorry, Teacher. Let’s go.”
Zhuang Jing pushed me to the stable. I quickly fed the best hay to Black Dragon and said apologetically,
“Sorry for letting you go hungry again, buddy. It’s my fault.”
Teacher Zhuang Jing said,
“Your horse really is impressive. Anyone can see it’s a fine steed. Where did it come from?”
If anyone else had asked me that question, I would have ignored it. But perhaps because what happened earlier had brought us closer, I found myself unable to refuse her.
“Black Dragon was originally a wild horse. I subdued it, and it has followed me ever since.”
“Can I touch it?”
Her excited expression made her look like a child.
“You’d better not. Its temper is very violent. It has kicked people to death before.”
“Is it really that scary? I don’t believe it. I want to touch it anyway.”
As she spoke, Zhuang Jing walked over and reached out toward Black Dragon.
Black Dragon’s eyes immediately showed vigilance. It stepped back, let out a long neigh, and reared up on its hind legs.
I quickly shouted,
“Black Dragon, don’t be rude. She’s a friend.”
Black Dragon seemed to understand my words. It lowered its hooves toward another direction.
Zhuang Jing was startled. Seeing that Black Dragon did not attack her, she dispersed the water element she had just gathered.
“That scared me. Your horse really is fierce. It even seems to understand what you’re saying.”
“I don’t know why either. It feels like we can communicate with each other mentally. Let’s go back.”
Zhuang Jing made a funny face at Black Dragon behind my back before pushing me back to the infirmary. Naturally, the process of carrying me back onto the bed involved some unavoidable contact again.
The next day Feng Wen also woke up. After breakfast he asked me,
“How are you? Feeling better? Your battle qi that day was incredible. I still had some attacking power left, but your battle qi froze my entire meridian system. I couldn’t gather any strength.”
“My internal injuries are basically healed, and the sword wound on my chest has closed. In a few more days I’ll be fine.”
To be honest, I admired his skill. He had actually managed to penetrate my powerful defense. It seemed I still needed to strengthen my training in Heavenly Thunder Armor.
“What kind of battle qi do you cultivate? Your defense is really strong.”
“Strong? Didn’t you still break through it?”
“My Whirling Dragon battle qi is quite famous. It attacks in a spiral like a tornado and can change direction freely. It has extremely strong penetrating power. I’ve never seen anyone take it head-on before. That day my final attack used all of my Whirling Dragon battle qi plus wind magic acceleration, and even then I could only barely break through your defensive barrier a little. When I first collided with your barrier I even held back some strength because I was afraid of injuring you. But later I used my full strength and still couldn’t completely break through.”
So it was spiral battle qi. No wonder it had such powerful penetration.
“Injuring me doesn’t matter, but you did ruin my clothes.”
“And you broke my sword. So we’re even.”
Just then Feng Yun and the Huo brothers came in. As soon as Feng Yun entered he shouted,
“How are you two? Feeling better? The Huo brothers told me that the fight that day was absolutely earth-shaking.”
Feng Wen laughed and scolded him,
“Listen to that mouth of yours. You’ve been like this since childhood—once you start talking you never stop. Can you be quiet for once?”
Feng Yun said,
“You’ve bullied me since we were kids. Now you won’t even let me talk?”
Huo Xing asked in surprise,
“You two know each other?”
Feng Wen smiled slightly.
“He’s my cousin. We grew up together. It’s just that one of us focused on studying magic while the other focused on martial arts.”
Huo Xing said,
“That works out well. We’re all friends then. But we’re in trouble now. Feng Juan ended up becoming the class monitor. I thought Lei Xiang had it in the bag, but you suddenly appeared out of nowhere.”
