Chapter 46 Su Cha’s Request for Reinforcements
Chapter 46 Su Cha’s Request for Reinforcements
A cold, dreary voice ordered the demon troops, “Stop chasing the Beastmen. Focus on killing the human on the ground. I never thought the Beastmen would join forces with the humans.”
A medium-sized figure appeared, escorted by a large number of soldiers. He wore the official robe of a minister, and his face looked slightly pale. He appeared to be around fifty years old, but his gaze was filled with hatred.
I could see that the four great corps under my command had safely escaped the Demon Race’s camp and were regrouping. It was clear they were preparing to launch an operation to rescue me.
The four Fallen Angels surrounding me gathered their dark magic, ready to launch a fatal attack at any moment. I glared at the man in the robe and asked coldly, “Are you the commander?”
“That’s right. I am the commander, Su Cha of the Demon Race. You humans have the nerve to join forces with the Beastmen and seize one of our peripheral provinces! Hmph. It seems you are the one commanding the Beastmen.”
Su Cha looked at the Fallen Angels. “Kill him. I wonder how the Beastmen will react once their commander is dead.”
So this was Su Cha—the one who had sent his men to attack Griffin and Gwynn.
I no longer had time to think. The four Fallen Angels turned into four clouds of black smoke and rushed toward me as fast as lightning.
It was too late to transform, even if I wanted to. I wanted to restore the Beastmen tribe to its former glory, but who would have thought that a moment of carelessness would lead me into this situation.
I sighed inwardly and gathered all my Mad God Chi and dark magic. Even if I died, I would not go down without a fight.
Just as the Fallen Angels came within five meters of me, an unstoppable force appeared from behind. I felt a flash of white light pass through my body, and I was thrown backward. With the help of that white light, I escaped the Demon Race’s encirclement.
My father’s majestic voice resounded through the camp.
“Who said he is human? He is my son.”
I was still dazed when a white meteor shot past my back again and struck the four Fallen Angels.
“Boom!”
Black and white energies clashed in midair. The four Fallen Angels were struck and sent flying in four directions like scattering blossoms of heavenly maidens.
My father stood fifty meters in front of the enemy general, his overwhelming aura pressing down on everyone.
I unsheathed Black Sable and flew to his side.
“Father, why did you come?” I asked in a low voice.
Father glared at me. “Would you have returned if I hadn’t come?”
Su Cha watched as the four Fallen Angels vomited blood. His face turned pale.
“Old Behemoth, how could you betray us and attack our Dunder Province? Explain yourself!”
Anyone could see that Su Cha was truly afraid. My father could normally only be restrained by Fallen Angels, yet four of them had been heavily injured in a single exchange. Naturally, Su Cha was terrified.
He had brought only eight Fallen Angels for this campaign, and all of them were his trusted aides.
Father snorted coldly.
“Betrayal? If the Demon Race had not betrayed us first, we would never have resisted you. How many of our people died during the war with the Dragon God Empire? And how many of your people died in that same war?”
“Even after that, you dare demand war reparations from us?”
“I will not waste any more time talking nonsense with you. We will see whether you can truly take back Dunder Province.”
He turned to me.
“Son, let’s go.”
Very rarely did my father call me “son.” So rarely that I almost could not believe the trace of warmth in his voice.
Could my father really feel such emotions? I had never even dared to imagine it.
I followed him closely as we walked out of the massive camp. Surprisingly, no one dared to stop us. Instead, they hurriedly opened a path for us.
It was clear they were terrified of my father’s attack just now.
After leaving the camp, we met up with our forces and quickly withdrew to Stanla City. Father did not say a single word along the way.
Just as we were about to enter the city gate, Father suddenly retched and spat out a large mouthful of blood. His body swayed.
I quickly supported him.
“Father, what happened?”
Father glanced at me. “Help me back to my room. I must begin recuperating immediately.”
Only then did I realize that Father had been suppressing his injuries in front of the enemy.
……
I slowly circulated my chi while sitting in front of Father. I had mostly recovered from the exhaustion caused by the recent battle.
However, Father’s face was still pale, and white mist continuously rose from his head.
This was the first time in my life I had ever seen my father injured—and it had happened because of my recklessness.
After a long while, Father let out a deep breath and completed another circulation of his chi. He opened his eyes, though his complexion remained ashen.
“I have grown old… truly old. A few brats almost sent me to heaven.”
“Father, how is your condition?”
Father shook his head.
“I won’t die yet. However, I’m afraid I won’t be able to fight for the time being. You should go now. The city still needs your command.”
“Your two brothers are fine, though they are somewhat exhausted.”
“I will enter seclusion for a few days. Do not disturb me unless the city is breached.”
“Even if those four Fallen Angels did not die, their strength has been greatly reduced. You and the troops should be able to defend against the enemy’s attack.”
I realized that Father’s injury must be very serious. Otherwise, he would not have needed to enter seclusion.
I said nothing more and left the room.
My feelings were extremely conflicted. For the moment, I no longer felt much hatred toward my father.
Father… what kind of person are you?
Three days later, the Demon Race reorganized their camp. Although the loss of their black wizards had been disastrous, some black wizard corps had survived the attack.
They deployed several magical barriers in front of the camp.
Perhaps because they lacked manpower—or because they feared another surprise attack like ours—the Demon Race did not surround Stanla City. Instead, they concentrated all their forces at the front and constructed massive offensive defenses.
“Eldest Brother, how heavy do you think the Demon Race’s losses were from that attack?” I asked.
Panzong scratched his head.
“I couldn’t hold on for long and fainted after casting that spell. How would I know how many of their men died?”
“Since you went to the front lines, shouldn’t you know better than I do? I heard from my subordinates that you almost didn’t make it back that day. What happened?”
I sighed.
“I advanced too recklessly and was nearly surrounded. If Father hadn’t come to rescue me and drive back those four Fallen Angels, you wouldn’t be seeing me now.”
Jin Langtou smiled.
“If you had used your transformation, you wouldn’t have been beaten so badly.”
I stared fiercely at the Demon Race’s massive camp.
“Eldest Brother, can you launch another attack on the same scale? From what I can see, their current magical barriers are too weak to defend against your spell.”
Panzong shook his head repeatedly.
“Forget it. We were almost completely drained that day. If it hadn’t been for your father, we probably still wouldn’t have recovered.”
“Level Eight magic is very different from Level Seven magic. I can cast Level Seven spells by myself without much trouble. But Level Eight magic—even when Second Brother and I combined our strength—it was extremely taxing.”
“It’s enough to defend here. As for launching another magical attack, forget it.”
“Save your strength to deal with the enemy’s experts later. Otherwise, if more Fallen Angels appear, you’ll have to face them alone.”
I sighed.
“So it still comes down to my lack of strength. I should have trained harder when I had the chance.”
Yin Langtou laughed.
“What’s the point of regretting it now? They aren’t attacking us at the moment. You can go train right now.”
Panzong suddenly said, “Yin Langtou, you crow-mouthed fool. Who said they aren’t attacking?”
Just as he spoke, several large formations rushed out from the enemy camp and slowly arranged themselves in front of Stanla City.
All kinds of siege weapons were pushed forward and prepared.
Clearly, they were about to launch an assault.
The weather that day was bright and sunny, and the sky was exceptionally clear. Under the sunlight, the sight of the Demon Race’s army—one hundred thousand strong—was truly astonishing.
I issued the order.
“All forces, stand ready. Prepare to defend. Behemoth Corps, immediately take position atop the city walls.”
I refused to believe that the demons could breach the city while the Behemoths held the walls.
The only advantage the demon army possessed was their numerical superiority.
However, in terms of combat strength, the four great corps under my command definitely held the advantage.
Standing atop the city walls, I did not feel the slightest fear. Even if the enemy sent ten or more Fallen Angels, I estimated that roughly ten Behemoths would be enough to hold off one Fallen Angel.
I pointed toward the very rear of the enemy formation, where only equipment was gathered.
“Second Brother,” I said to the Wolf God, “can you tell what that thing over there is?”
The Wolf God focused in the direction I indicated.
Jin Langtou suddenly exclaimed, “Oh my. I didn’t expect the demon army to have catapults. Look—the rectangular structure moving slowly toward us.”
I laughed bitterly and replied, “My eyesight can’t compare with yours. How am I supposed to see it clearly? Tell me what it’s used for.”
Jin Langtou replied, “A catapult is normally used for defense. It can hurl large rocks at the enemy. When placed on top of city walls, its destructive power is quite strong. However, I have no idea how it could be used for offense. Are they planning to attack us directly with rocks?”
As the enemy catapults drew closer, Jin Langtou suddenly said in shock, “Ah! I think they really are going to hit us directly. The Demon Race spent quite a bit of money on this. This is a powerful catapult. Against a city like ours, they can easily reach the walls. Their plan must be to bombard us violently with the catapults first. After that, they’ll command their army to attack.”
Stunned, I asked, “How are we supposed to defend against them? How powerful are these catapults?”
Jin Langtou replied, “Their power isn’t bad. They might not completely destroy the city walls, but they can definitely cause chaos and confusion.”
I silently chanted an incantation and launched a fireball toward the Demon Race’s army.
When the fireball flew above the Demon Race’s catapult, a black sphere of energy shot upward and immediately swallowed the fireball.
Panzong reached out to test the direction of the wind. Snorting softly, he said, “It’s fine. Watch me.”
His nine heads began chanting together.
“Water, fire, earth, wind—the purest forms of energy in nature. Ignite the desire within me. Awaken, the blood of the Serpent King that lies dormant!”
The surrounding soldiers from the various tribes quickly moved away, leaving a large open space.
Panzong’s body suddenly grew larger. The nine enormous serpent heads swayed gently. The purple snake head at the center gradually expanded.
Suddenly, Panzong opened his mouth wide and released a mass of thick purple fog into the air. The cyan snake head then opened its massive mouth and blew a gentle breeze, spreading the poisonous fog.
The purple fog slowly drifted through the air. After a short moment, it gradually faded until it became colorless.
Panzong continued spraying poisonous mist while using wind magic to spread it. After repeating the process several times, he finally stopped.
I looked at him curiously.
“First Brother, what are you trying to do? The poison fog will scatter before it even reaches the enemy.”
Panzong chuckled.
“Do you think my poison is that easy to deal with? The fog I released is my own venom. Even diluted a hundred thousand times, it’s still formidable. If I had used this on you earlier…” He laughed softly. “But after using it once, I’ll need a full month to recover before I can use it again. Still, it’s worth it for one hundred thousand people. Just wait here and watch.”
Prince Su Cha personally stood outside the city supervising the siege preparations.
The sneak attack earlier had humiliated him. Su Cha had resolved to capture the city within a single day.
While he was deploying the army, a Fallen Angel suddenly twitched his nose.
“Sire, don’t you feel something strange about the air?”
Su Cha frowned. “What’s strange about it?”
He took a deep breath. Sure enough, there was a faint sweetness in the air. The scent was strangely soothing.
“Are there women in the barracks? Isn’t this the smell of rouge?”
The Fallen Angel replied, “How could there be women in the army? And I’ve never smelled rouge before.”
That Fallen Angel had spent his entire life training in Demonic Arts and had never interacted with women, so he naturally couldn’t recognize the scent.
Suddenly, Su Cha’s body spasmed. He clutched his temples.
“Why do I feel lightheaded? Perhaps I’ve overworked myself these past few days.”
But with his cultivation in the sixth level of the Demonic Arts, could simple fatigue really make him feel dizzy?
The Fallen Angel beside him suddenly panicked.
“My Prince, something is wrong. Look at our soldiers.”
Su Cha steadied himself and looked around. His subordinates were swaying as if they were drunk.
“What’s going on? Quick! This is poison. Everyone, expel the poison from your bodies using chi. The entire army is to retreat.”
After speaking, he immediately circulated his Qi and used dark magic to purge the poison from his body.
Panzong’s poison had been greatly diluted, so for these Demon Race experts it was not particularly lethal.
In a moment, Su Cha regained his clarity. He turned his horse and shouted, “Retreat! Return to the barracks immediately!”
Standing atop the walls of Stanla City, I watched the Demon Race army retreat in disorder.
I turned toward the Wolf God.
“Second Brother, Second Sister, should we charge out and kill them?”
Panzong said, “Have you learned nothing from last time? You want to rush out again? This time the Behemoth King won’t be there to save you.”
I smiled.
“Don’t worry, First Brother. I’ll be more careful this time. What effect does your poison have? Can it kill them?”
Panzong shook his head.
“The area was too large. Unless their bodies are extremely weak, they won’t die. However, it should weaken them and drain their strength. Remember—our goal is to protect Stanla City. Don’t pursue too far.”
“I understand,” I replied. “I’ll return after attacking them.”
Yin Langtou said, “Don’t worry. We’ll watch over him.”
Panzong laughed. “You? It’ll be fine as long as you don’t lose your way. If you’re going, hurry. If they retreat to their newly built camp, you’ll lose the chance. The poison gas should have dispersed by now.”
The Wolf God and I charged out, leading the Speed Wolves Corps and ten thousand werewolf soldiers.
Werewolves moved incredibly fast. Only a quarter of the enemy troops had managed to retreat back into their camp before we caught up with them.
Weapons were scattered everywhere. It was clear the demon soldiers were too weak to even hold them.
I ordered Yin Jian to lead five thousand men and seize the catapults that had not even fired once and bring them back to our camp.
Meanwhile, the Wolf God and I led the werewolf soldiers across the battlefield, slaughtering the weakened demons with ease. The losses on the Demon Race side were severe.
By the time Su Cha reacted and sent troops to drive us away, we had already withdrawn.
This made Su Cha furious.
In his many years of commanding armies, this was the first time he had suffered such a defeat. Before he had even formally begun the siege, he had already lost half his forces within just a few days.
That night, I ordered the troops to install the three hundred captured catapults on the city walls and personally led soldiers to gather rocks.
Meanwhile, the Wolf God led his forces to contact the supply army and continuously transport stones into the city.
Over the following days, Su Cha and I entered a war of attrition.
Su Cha became extremely cautious. He personally led several Fallen Angels at the front.
I soon discovered that the three hundred catapults were incredibly useful. Using gravity and the height of the walls, we were able to bombard the demon army and inflict heavy losses.
However, the Demon Race was truly powerful. Our casualties steadily increased, especially from the attacks of the enemy Fallen Angels.
If Panzong, the Wolf God, and I had not resisted them with everything we had—supported by the Behemoth warriors—I fear we would have been overwhelmed long ago.
A month later.
Inside the Demon Race Imperial Palace.
The Demon Emperor took Su Cha’s letter requesting reinforcements and handed it to Gu Chuan.
Gu Chuan unfolded the letter and read aloud.
“The Beastmen forces are extremely powerful. They also have allies of unknown race. Our losses have been disastrous. Your Majesty, please send reinforcements as soon as possible.”
Gu Chuan raised his head and looked at the Demon Emperor. The Demon Emperor was already staring back at him.
After a moment of silence, the two men burst into laughter.
Gu Chuan said, “Your Majesty truly possesses remarkable foresight. Su Cha has indeed suffered defeat.”
The Demon Emperor nodded.
“Until the very end, that man would never ask me for help. It seems his losses this time are truly severe.”
“According to the spies in his army, Su Cha brought two hundred thousand troops. Now only five thousand remain. Meanwhile, the Beastmen forces had only sixty thousand men and suffered comparatively light losses.”
Gu Chuan frowned.
“This is strange. Su Cha’s military ability is still first-rate. He may not command troops like a god, but he rarely makes fatal mistakes. How did he suffer such devastating losses?”
“Unless the Beastmen army is composed entirely of Behemoths and the Wild Lion Corps…”
The Demon Emperor picked up a sheet of paper from his desk and handed it to him.
“This is the spy report. Take a look. Su Cha is truly in trouble this time.”
Gu Chuan read it. The further he read, the more serious his expression became.
“Earthquake? Poison fog? Human? These…”
He lifted his head and looked at the Demon Emperor.
The Demon Emperor sighed and said, “It seems we cannot stop the growing power of the Beastmen. I can tell that the Beastmen hold no enmity toward us; they were simply pressed too hard. Aside from little Mi You, the men we sent to assassinate the leaders of their new Beast God religion never returned. I suspect they were discovered. If even four Fallen Angels failed to come back, that tells us a great deal about the opponent’s strength. Furthermore, the Beast God religion is certainly one of the reasons they launched a sneak attack on us.
“My worthy brother, did you notice that only Dunder Province, which borders the Beastmen lands, was attacked? Although the other provinces bordering Beastmen territory have accumulated massive armed forces, there has been no sign of activity there. Moreover, they did not dispatch a large army to stop Su Cha in Stanla City. From all of this we can conclude that the Beastmen have no intention of becoming our enemy. As for Su Cha, we should not be too harsh on him. After all, he still commands quite a number of capable subordinates.
“You should settle matters here. I will give you another twenty thousand troops. Bring some men and personally make a visit there. As long as the Beastmen’s conditions are not too harsh, we will agree to them. Without their help, our losses will greatly increase in the next war against the Dragon Empire. Right now, harmony must be our priority.”
After finishing, the Demon Emperor looked deeply into Gu Chuan’s eyes.
Gu Chuan nodded. “I understand, Your Majesty. Please be at ease.”
A melodious voice echoed from outside. “Uncle! Uncle! I want to go with you.”
Mi You skipped in, lively and energetic.
The Demon Emperor said indulgently, “Little Mi You, don’t cause trouble. Your uncle is going to attend to official business. Have you made any improvement in your Demonic Arts? I will be checking your progress shortly. If there isn’t any improvement, you will be punished.”
Mi You tugged at the Demon Emperor’s sleeve. Pouting unhappily, she said, “Papa Emperor, please let me go. You already know that no matter how much I train, my Demonic Arts won’t improve. Let me go, please… If I promise not to cause trouble, will you allow it?”
The Demon Emperor gently pinched Mi You’s nose and smiled. “You… you nearly scared Father to death when you returned with those severe injuries. When I asked who did that to you, you refused to tell me. If something had happened to you, how would I face your mother, who died for your sake?”
At the mention of her mother, Mi You’s eyes reddened. Leaning against the Demon Emperor’s leg, she sobbed softly. “Papa, little Mi You knows you love me.”
The Demon Emperor stroked her hair and sighed. “Your mother was my most beloved wife. Sadly, she died of hemorrhage after giving birth to you. Even after all these years, I still cannot forget her. Yet her death pushed me to break through to the sixth tier of Demonic Arts.
“If you feel too confined in the palace, you may go. But you must promise one thing: you must listen to Uncle Gu Chuan. Do you understand? Of course, he must agree first.”
Mi You suddenly straightened up, her bright eyes shining. “Papa, please rest assured. I will definitely listen to Uncle Gu Chuan!”
After saying that, she leaned against Gu Chuan and stared at him with a pitiful expression.
Gu Chuan sighed helplessly. “Very well, little Mi You. Uncle will take you along. But you must promise to behave and not run around. If anything happens to you, Uncle won’t know how to explain it to your father.”
Mi You jumped happily and kissed Gu Chuan on the cheek. Skipping excitedly, she said, “Great! I’ll go pack my things now.”
As Mi You left, the Demon Emperor said quietly, “My worthy brother, I must trouble you again.”
Gu Chuan shook his head. “Your Majesty, honestly speaking, looking after that girl is more exhausting than killing a thousand men. This time it will be enough to bring Gwynn and his brother. The rest of the Fallen Angels should remain with you.”
The Demon Emperor replied, “There’s no need to worry. My power has already recovered to the sixth layer. Breaking through to the seventh is only a matter of time. Besides Su Cha, who would dare plot against the Demon Emperor? And Su Cha himself is not having an easy time now, so rest assured. Bring more people with you. That way we can prevent the Beastmen from demanding excessive conditions.”
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
Although he agreed outwardly, Gu Chuan only brought Gwynn and his brother along, together with Princess Mi You.
Stanla City.
“Quick! There’s a gap there—repair it!”
“Put the stones over there—yes, on the catapult. Be careful!”
Standing atop the city wall, I directed the men as they reinforced the defenses.
“First Brother, have all the wounded been sent away?”
Panzong replied, “All the injured have already been escorted back. Mink sent a letter. His Majesty learned that we, with our small force, managed to stall the Demon Clan’s two hundred thousand troops. He was overjoyed. Reinforcements should arrive within a few days.”
I looked at the battered city wall and sighed. “It’s about time the reinforcements arrived. Otherwise, once the Demon Clan’s reinforcements reach us, we’ll be finished. I only hope the Demon Emperor is as farsighted as I imagined.”
“There’s no use worrying. We just need to defend properly.”
Jin Langtou’s voice rang out.
“Second Brother, why don’t you rest longer? These past few days have been exhausting.”
Yin Langtou said, “Life is exciting. How could anyone sleep through it? Did the enemy attack again?”
I shook my head. Since the large-scale assault the Demon Clan launched three days ago, there had been no movement. Of the original sixty thousand troops, fewer than forty thousand remained. The ordinary werewolf tribe and naga tribe suffered the heaviest losses. Although the Four Great Corps also sustained casualties, theirs were comparatively lighter.
To resist the enemy’s Fallen Angels, we sacrificed more than thirty Behemoth warriors. The loss pained me deeply.
Jin Langtou said, “Lei Xiang, your Behemoth father has been sleeping for a whole month. Why hasn’t he woken up yet? Did he fall into eternal sleep?”
Panzong glared at him angrily. “What nonsense! Did the Behemoth King offend you? Have you forgotten that he used his qi to restore your power when you helped me cast that spell? Besides, he is Fourth Brother’s father. Even if you’re older, you should still show respect.”
It was rare to see Panzong so angry. The Wolf God was frightened into silence.
I stepped forward and pulled Panzong back. “Let it go, First Brother. Second Brother didn’t mean it. That’s just their nature. I don’t mind. Father’s injuries were serious, but with his strength he should awaken soon.”
Actually… I also found it strange. With Father’s power, fighting four Fallen Angels should have been manageable. Why had he been so badly injured, and why had he still not recovered?
Yin Langtou suddenly widened her eyes and stared beyond the city walls. “Look!”
I rushed forward and leaned over the battlements. Dust clouds surged from the Demon camp. A massive army was approaching.
I drew a long breath. “Heavens… how many troops is that? This is bad. First Brother, when will our reinforcements arrive?”
Panzong stared at the endless enemy formation, momentarily stunned. “I don’t know the exact time, but it should be soon. That’s an enormous force. And the quality of these troops is far higher than the previous batch. Even their marching formation is orderly.”
Of course their quality was high. Gu Chuan had brought two of the four Royal Personal Legions, and he had transferred three legions of Black Magicians as well. Those five legions were their core forces. The rest were seasoned veterans of many battles. Naturally they were far superior to Su Cha’s troops.
Panzong comforted me. “It’s fine, Fourth Brother. My poison has recovered. I’ll spray it again to delay their attack. If we hold them for a few more days, our reinforcements will arrive.”
I nodded. At this moment, that was our only hope.
Demon Clan Main Camp.
Gu Chuan entered Su Cha’s command tent accompanied by Gwynn, Griffen, and Mi You.
It was the first time Su Cha had seen Gu Chuan since the campaign began. He felt excited, yet the exhausting battles of the past days had completely drained his anger.
Stanla City had proven like an iron fortress. He had tried every method, yet failed to break the defensive line. Not only that, his forces had suffered heavy casualties. The troops under his command were no longer sufficient to launch another large-scale assault. With no other option, he had requested reinforcements from the Demon Emperor.
He knew that doing so would severely damage his reputation.
Gu Chuan inclined his head slightly. “Your Highness.”
Su Cha replied politely, “We are brothers; there is no need for formality. Brother Gu Chuan, please come inside. Ah, little Mi You, you came too.”
“Hello, Uncle Su Cha. Papa Emperor is not satisfied with your recent performance.”
Mi You’s blunt remark caused Su Cha’s expression to stiffen. He forced an awkward smile. “Sigh… Uncle has done everything he could. The enemy is simply too strong.”
Gu Chuan nodded and stepped forward. Su Cha followed closely behind.
Standing in the center of the tent, Gu Chuan took out a black scroll and raised it above his head. His voice turned solemn.
“The Demon Emperor’s imperial edict has arrived. Prince Su Cha will receive the decree.”
Su Cha was startled. He quickly knelt and shouted praises to the Emperor.
Gu Chuan unfolded the edict and read aloud.
“By the will of Heaven, the Demon Emperor decrees: Prince Su Cha led two hundred thousand troops against the enemy yet failed to destroy them, suffering heavy casualties instead. Therefore, Su Cha’s noble title is revoked. Command of the army is transferred to the commander of the Royal Legion, Gu Chuan. Su Cha is to immediately return to the Demon Capital to await further orders.”
Su Cha’s expression changed repeatedly. Several times he almost lost control of his temper. But facing Gu Chuan’s overwhelming power and the massive army outside, he had no choice but to accept.
“This servant Su Cha respectfully receives the imperial decree.”
Gu Chuan handed the edict to him and whispered quietly, “My Prince, your performance this time was truly disappointing. His Majesty is extremely angry. You should be careful when you return.”
Then Gu Chuan muttered to himself, “I wonder why His Majesty has become so short-tempered after his four wings were restored.”
Su Cha frowned. “What did you say?”
