Chapter 33 Eternal Alliance
Chapter 33 Eternal Alliance
A pure, sweet taste filled my mouth as the dissolved gem trickled down my throat. I silently prayed it was not poisonous.
I had swallowed the black gem by accident. Before I could spit it out, it had already turned into liquid and slid into my stomach. Suddenly my entire body felt as though it had been thrown into a freezer. A terrifying cold spread through me.
The icy energy split apart and surrounded my chest, circling the warm energy that protected my heart.
Am I going to freeze to death?
The freezing energy rushed through my meridians, forcing its way through them and throwing everything into chaos. My entire body went numb, and I fainted.
In truth, this black gem was not poisonous. It was an extremely rare treasure of the Demon Clan that had long since ceased production.
Not only did it possess a magnificent appearance, it also contained a vast amount of magical power. In scholarly terminology, they were called Ink Crystals, though they were also known simply as magical stones.
There were fewer than twenty pieces left in the entire Demon Clan. Their value was so great that even the Demon Emperor’s crown had an Ink Crystal embedded within it—one twice the size of the piece I had just swallowed.
The Ink Crystal was considered a national treasure of the Demon Clan.
It possessed two primary effects.
The first was to strengthen muscles and transform bone marrow, making a person’s meridians stronger and more resilient.
The second was to alter one’s physique. It allowed individuals who were originally incapable of cultivating dark magic to practice it.
For those who already possessed a dark affinity, the Ink Crystal greatly strengthened their magical power and protected their meridians.
When the Demon Emperor once infused a portion of his power into his beloved daughter, Mi You, he had first given her an Ink Crystal to improve her compatibility with dark magic.
However, normally no one would dare swallow such a precious treasure. Doing so would be considered wasteful.
For ordinary demons, strengthening their body and marrow held little meaning. Even if their physique changed, they would rarely gain the opportunity to cultivate advanced demonic techniques.
At that time, Count Fei Zhen had been unable to gather twenty gems in time. He had no choice but to include his precious Ink Crystals to complete the set.
Each Ink Crystal he gave me was worth millions of gold coins within the Demon Clan.
The medicinal effect of the Ink Crystal happened to suit me perfectly.
It dredged and reconnected all my meridians, allowing dark energy to circulate through them again.
When I first cultivated the Mad God Arts, I had forcibly cleared every meridian in my body in a single cycle. Although I succeeded, the overwhelming power of the technique had left my meridians extremely fragile.
Now, with the help of the Ink Crystal, my muscles were strengthened, my bone marrow transformed, and my meridians widened and reinforced.
What effect this would have on my future cultivation was impossible to predict.
Morning sunlight streamed through the window and slowly woke me.
A strange stiffness filled my chest. Suddenly I spat out two mouthfuls of black blood.
The blood splattered across my clothes.
I’m finished.
I’m going to die.
I waited helplessly for death.
But after some time passed, nothing happened.
Instead, my body felt refreshed and comfortable.
I narrowed my eyes and scratched my head.
I’m alive?
So it wasn’t poisonous?
Suddenly I froze.
I had just scratched my head.
With my right hand.
I stared at my hand in shock.
Joy surged through me as I quickly examined my meridians.
Not only had they reconnected, their entire structure had changed.
Before, my meridians had resembled thin sluggish streams.
Now they felt like vast rivers.
With a slight circulation of chi, dark magic surged through my body like a tide. Warm energy continuously flowed around my heart and merged with the fluctuations of dark magic.
Because the medicinal effect of the Ink Crystal was extremely powerful, refined Ink Crystals were always prepared using the finest supplementary ingredients.
These ingredients protected the heart from being damaged by the violent power of the Ink Crystal.
After lying in bed for more than a month, my meridians had finally recovered.
My meridians… were truly healed.
Unable to contain myself, I jumped out of bed and danced around the room in excitement.
After a long while, I finally calmed down.
Although I did not fully understand what had happened, the black gem had clearly played the most important role.
Excellent.
With these gems in my possession, I would no longer need to fear serious injuries.
In fact, my meridians were now so tough that even deliberately damaging them would be difficult.
I sat cross-legged and began circulating dark magic through my body.
After cultivating for an entire week, I slowly concluded my training.
My dark magic had not only grown stronger, it had also become far more stable and refined.
In fact, it was likely even stronger than when I had been at my peak.
However, my Mad God chi remained weak and had yet to fully recover.
Just then, footsteps approached.
Wolf entered the room.
“Young Master! You’ve recovered?”
I smiled and shook my head.
“Not completely. But my condition has improved. From today onward, do not disturb me. I will train alone for a few days. Once my strength returns, we will leave.”
Wolf’s eyes lit up.
“That’s wonderful! We can finally leave this cursed place.”
My expression became serious.
“Do not tell anyone about my recovery. Not even our own people.”
“I don’t want anyone revealing anything through their expressions.”
“Bring me something nutritious first. I will begin secluded training after I eat.”
After eating, I began training again without even changing my clothes.
I scattered dark magic through my meridians while focusing on gathering Mad God chi.
At first it was extremely difficult.
Because I had exhausted nearly all my power during the previous battle, Mad God chi was hard to condense.
However, now that my meridians were twice as wide, the speed of my chi circulation had increased dramatically.
After forty-nine cycles of circulation, Mad God chi returned to its original state.
Not only that, it had grown stronger than before.
Gritting my teeth, I continued circulating chi according to the cultivation method of the fourth layer of the Mad God Arts.
Now there were almost no obstructions in my cultivation.
After another forty-nine cycles, I finally broke through the fourth layer.
I knew better than to push further.
If I became greedy, I might suffer qi deviation.
I guided Mad God chi back into my dantian and slowly opened my eyes.
Now not only had my strength fully recovered, it had advanced to an entirely new level.
After stretching my body inside the room, I could feel explosive power surging through me.
I picked up Black Sable from the bed and gently ran my fingers along the blade.
If I had not recovered this sword, I might still be lying helplessly in bed.
“My old friend… Black Sable. Thank you.”
The blade seemed to respond.
A faint glow rippled across it as it trembled softly.
I pushed open the door.
The sky outside was clear and blue. The bright sky perfectly reflected my mood.
I inhaled deeply.
Nearby I heard faint snoring.
Turning my head, I saw Wolf leaning against the wall, fast asleep.
During my recovery, it had been Wolf and the bearman guard who cared for me.
They must have been exhausted.
I tapped his shoulder.
Wolf suddenly woke up and stared at me in shock.
“Master! You’ve finally come out!”
My mood was excellent.
“You’ve worked hard, brother.”
Wolf looked flattered.
“Master, please don’t say that. This is my duty.”
I laughed.
“Enough of that. Look at my condition—get me some water. I want to wash up and change clothes.”
“After that, tell the Wolf God Guard to prepare food. I’m starving.”
“Oh, and how long was I training?”
Wolf replied,
“Much longer than a few days. You were in seclusion for eleven days.”
“Eleven days?”
It had felt like only a moment.
Wolf hurried to fetch water.
After washing and changing clothes, I enjoyed a hearty meal.
My dream of spreading the Beast God faith burned brightly once again.
I called Wolf.
“How is everyone’s training progress?”
Wolf lowered his head.
“The brothers have improved somewhat. But I am still lacking.”
I smiled.
“Your foundation is excellent. During this time you focused on caring for me. Training cannot be rushed.”
“Otherwise it will only harm you.”
“Go find me some paper and a pencil.”
Wolf’s eyes shone with excitement. He hurried away like a child.
Within an hour I had written down training methods for low-level fire and wind elemental magic.
I handed the papers to him.
“Follow the instructions carefully.”
“This is human and Demon Clan magic.”
“Your foundation lies in martial arts. If you combine it with magic, your strength will increase significantly.”
“Wind and fire magic are easier to learn and offer many variations in combat.”
“If the others are interested, let them study together with you.”
Wolf held the papers with trembling hands.
“T-this… is magic?”
I smiled.
“No. This is paper.”
Then I demonstrated.
I quietly chanted a spell and a fire orb appeared in my palm.
“Defend with your chi!”
I threw it toward him.
Wolf reacted instantly, releasing a pale green chi that shattered the fire orb.
Flames scattered through the air like a shower of sparks.
“That is magic,” I said.
“I think you are suited to wind-element magic. But do not abandon chi cultivation.”
“No matter what path you follow, at the highest level all power shares the same origin.”
Wolf nodded repeatedly, staring at the training papers with excitement.
I waved him away.
“Go practice. I no longer need protection.”
He bowed deeply.
“Thank you, Young Master.”
After he left, I summoned Black Sable and stepped outside.
Two escorts—a centaur and a tigerman—stood guard in the courtyard.
Seeing me appear, they saluted respectfully.
Their eyes were filled with relief.
I was their pillar of morale.
My recovery meant hope.
“There is no need to guard here. The werewolves will not harm us.”
“Go train.”
“The more you sweat during training, the less blood you will shed in battle.”
“You followed me here. I hope all of you will return home safely.”
“Yes, Young Master.”
After sending them away, I stepped outside the courtyard.
Immediately a small patrol of ten werewolf soldiers blocked my path.
The squad leader spoke cautiously.
“Return to the monastery. You are not permitted to leave.”
I snorted coldly.
“Who do you think you are?”
“I am not your prisoner.”
My words angered them.
I continued calmly,
“Even your commander Yin Jian was defeated by me. Ask yourselves—can you defeat him?”
The squad leader replied steadily.
“Even if we cannot defeat you, we must still try. It is our duty.”
This man had potential.
Still, I had no intention of causing trouble.
I smiled slightly.
“Very well. Go inform Yin Jian.”
“Tell him I wish to meet your Wolf God.”
The squad leader nodded and left quickly.
I stood there with my eyes closed, breathing the cool mountain air.
This place truly had a pleasant climate.
“You want to meet the Wolf God?”
Yin Jian’s voice echoed from afar.
I opened my eyes.
He was rushing toward me at great speed, leaving the messenger far behind.
I asked calmly,
“Did the Wolf God not inform you?”
“We have an important matter to discuss once I recovered from my injuries.”
Yin Jian hurried over and looked me up and down from head to toe.
“Indeed, this was Lord Wolf God’s command,” he said. “But I didn’t expect you to recover so quickly. No wonder Lord Wolf God said your life force is as tenacious as a cockroach.”
I glared at him.
“What? That guy dared to compare me to a cockroach? I’ll settle that score with him later. Come on, take me to him.”
Yin Jian nodded and led the way. The werewolf squad leader immediately stepped aside.
Yin Jian did not walk particularly fast. We moved at an ordinary pace.
After a moment he suddenly asked, “I have a question I want to ask you.”
“You may ask.”
“Did you hold back when you fought me?”
I shook my head.
“No. I truly fought with all my strength.”
Yin Jian spun around angrily.
“You’re lying. If you really fought me with your full strength, how could you possibly fight Lord Wolf God to a standstill? The gap between him and me is immeasurable.”
I smiled slightly.
“When I fought you, I did not hold back. But I did conceal part of my abilities. I used my chi to fight you with everything I had.”
“After you, I still had to face the Wolf God. Naturally I couldn’t reveal every ability at once. I saved some of my magic and special techniques.”
After hearing this, Yin Jian’s expression softened slightly.
“Then why did you use such a strange technique in the final attack?”
I gave a bitter smile.
“Old friend, think carefully about what I just said.”
“That Wolf God bastard was standing right behind you. If I exhausted too much strength fighting you, how could I fight him afterward?”
“I’m sure you already know how troublesome his abilities are. If I had used my special techniques earlier, I would never have lasted against him.”
Yin Jian shouted angrily.
“You are forbidden from speaking ill of Lord Wolf God!”
I raised both hands.
“Alright, alright. I won’t badmouth him.”
“Let’s hurry. Are you planning to keep your great Lord Wolf God waiting?”
Yin Jian snorted and continued walking toward the temple.
The temple had already been repaired.
It still looked magnificent.
I asked in surprise, “Your men work quickly. It’s already repaired.”
Yin Jian glared at me.
“The surface is repaired. But the barrier is gone.”
“Lord Wolf God said that after he fully recovers, it will take at least three months to recreate it.”
“You wait here. I will report your arrival.”
The temple guards looked at me with anger mixed with fear.
Their expressions were amusing.
Just as I was about to tease them, Yin Jian ran back out.
“You may enter. Lord Wolf God is waiting inside.”
“You’re not coming?” I asked.
Yin Jian shook his head.
It seemed the Wolf God wanted to speak with me alone.
That confirmed my suspicion.
I strode into the temple.
Under the glow of magical lights, the interior was brilliantly illuminated.
The Wolf God stood in the center of the hall with his back facing me.
He still wore the cloak, though this time his two heads were uncovered.
A clear voice spoke.
“You have come. Are your injuries healed?”
I frowned.
“I dislike speaking to someone’s back.”
The Wolf God stiffened slightly and turned around.
Both heads showed surprise.
The golden wolf head said, “Your voice is full of strength. Have you already fully recovered?”
I replied unhappily, “Why? Did you expect me to stay bedridden forever?”
The silver wolf head said thoughtfully,
“No. We are only confused.”
“Our injuries have recovered only about seventy percent. The last time we saw you, all your meridians were shattered and you could not move.”
“It is unbelievable that you recovered fully in just half a month.”
“Was it because of that sword?”
“We examined that pitch-black sword of yours. There seems to be an immeasurable power sealed inside it, but we could not release it.”
I smiled faintly.
“You guessed correctly. Black Sable saved me.”
“It is connected to my soul. When I am injured, it can share part of its power to heal me.”
Of course, I did not mention the Ink Crystal.
Revealing that would only complicate matters.
Still, it was true that I could not have recovered without Black Sable.
The golden wolf head sighed regretfully.
“It is unfortunate that it already recognizes its master. And it has a dark attribute…”
It was obvious he had once considered claiming it.
I did not want to continue that subject.
“I came today to speak openly with the two of you.”
“I am curious about you, and you clearly have questions about me.”
“Since that is the case, why not speak honestly?”
The two wolf heads looked at me with interest.
“Very well,” the golden head said. “You begin.”
I nodded.
“My name is Lei Xiang.”
“I am a mixed blood of human, demon, and beastman, though my beastman lineage is the strongest.”
The Wolf God was not surprised.
From my strength and abilities they had already guessed I was of mixed blood.
“My father is the number one warrior of the Beastmen.”
Both wolf heads exclaimed at once.
“The Behemoth King!”
“You know my father?” I asked.
The Wolf God laughed awkwardly.
“Among the beastmen, he is probably the only one who can make us tremble.”
“We once fought him while disguised.”
“The result was total defeat. We barely escaped with our lives.”
Their words shocked me.
I had always believed the Wolf God’s strength was close to my father’s.
Yet according to them, Father was far stronger.
No wonder he could fight a Dragon Knight on equal footing.
“But I am not only the son of the Behemoth King.”
“I am also the adopted son of the Beast Emperor.”
“My mission is to assist the Beast Emperor in uniting the Beastmen and developing the Beastmen Country into one of the three strongest powers on this continent.”
The silver wolf head frowned.
“You’re mistaken.”
“The Beast Country already belongs to the Beast Emperor. What is there to unite?”
Before I could reply, the golden head interrupted.
“You fool. Although the Beast Emperor is the king in name, how many territories does he truly control?”
“At least he cannot control us.”
I nodded.
“You are correct.”
“The Beast Emperor only truly controls the Lion Tribe and my father’s Behemoth Tribe.”
“The other tribes only offer lip service.”
“That is why I represent the Beast Emperor.”
“I will punish those who refuse to submit.”
The silver wolf head sneered.
“With what army? Those ten subordinates of yours?”
I answered calmly.
“Yes.”
“Just myself and my subordinates.”
“Since we are speaking honestly, I will also tell you my plan.”
“And I will prove that I am capable of completing this mission.”
“I am not yet eighteen years old.”
“A year ago the Beast Emperor sent me to the Dragon Empire.”
“The Beast Emperor is farsighted and wishes for the Beastmen to prosper.”
“But the Beastmen lack knowledge.”
“Although our population is large, our overall military strength is weak.”
“Why?”
“Because we lack commanders who understand warfare and strategy.”
“My mission in the Dragon Empire was to study their knowledge and return with it.”
“So I went to the human nation.”
The four eyes of the Wolf God shone with interest.
The silver wolf head asked eagerly,
“Is the human world interesting?”
A nostalgic expression appeared on my face.
“It is a beautiful place.”
“The food, the people, and the scenery… they are unforgettable.”
I was telling the truth.
Especially the Ji sisters.
Every night I thought of them.
The hope of seeing them again drove me forward.
The Wolf God’s eyes shone even brighter.
Then the silver head sighed sadly.
“It’s a pity we cannot leave this place.”
“Otherwise I would love to see it myself.”
They’re hooked.
“After a year I completed my mission and returned with knowledge.”
“After discussing it with the Beast Emperor, we decided to establish a religion.”
“The purpose is to unify the Beastmen Country.”
“We will override the authority of the tribal leaders and return the nation to the Beast Emperor’s control.”
“Under a reorganized government, the Beast Empire will naturally grow strong.”
“A religion?” the golden wolf head asked.
“So your identity as the Beast God’s emissary came from that?”
I nodded.
“That’s right.”
“We will establish the Beast God religion.”
“As everyone knows, the Beast God is the god of all Beastmen.”
“Only under his name can we accomplish this plan.”
“I will eliminate bandits in the name of the Beast God.”
“Then I will send emissaries to help develop agriculture and metallurgy in the poorer regions.”
“Our goal is to lift the empire from poverty and plant faith in the Beast God deep within the hearts of the people.”
“After several years, once the Beast God religion becomes the dominant faith, the Beast Emperor will proclaim himself the Pope.”
“He will declare that the Beast God commanded him to guide the Beastmen.”
“And the unification of the Beastmen Country will follow naturally.”
The silver wolf head snorted angrily.
“So you came here thinking we were bandits and planned to destroy us?”
“With only twenty men?”
“Even with the Behemoth army you might not succeed.”
I smiled slightly.
“Originally, yes.”
“But after seeing the prosperous state of Yuna Territory, I changed my mind.”
“As for how I discovered you here—do not ask.”
“That is something I will not reveal.”
The golden wolf head said angrily,
“Hiding? We live here with honor.”
“Since you revealed so much to us, are you not afraid we will expose your plans to the other tribes?”
“You should know that we still have enough influence to affect them.”
I replied calmly,
“You may call yourselves honorable.”
“As for whether you expose my plans… I have confidence you will not.”
“I have finished my story.”
“Now it is your turn.”
“I believe the great Lord Wolf God would not lie to me, would he?”
The Wolf God straightened proudly.
“Why would we lie?”
“You want to know our history?”
“Very well.”
“We will tell you.”
“We, the Double-Headed Wolf race, have existed since ancient times.”
“In those days strange beasts roamed everywhere.”
“Like that nine-headed worm in the neighboring territory—it has existed since those times.”
I smiled.
“So you truly are a so-called Wolf God.”
The silver wolf head said, “Actually, calling us the Wolf God is not entirely incorrect. Our true power absolutely surpasses that of the wolf race.”
The golden wolf head continued, “Later, our tribe was almost wiped out during the Great War of Gods and Demons. We are the only ones left to continue the lineage.”
“To tell you the truth, we are nearly one hundred years old now. That makes us older than your father’s generation.”
One hundred years old… an old monster.
I asked suspiciously, “If you are both so old, does that mean you will soon die of old age?”
Both wolf heads spat repeatedly at the same time.
“Puh, puh, puh! Who’s going to die?”
“We are still in the prime of life!”
The golden wolf head explained, “The lifespan of the Double-Headed Wolf race is extremely long. We can live more than five hundred years.”
“So by your standards, we are only about twenty years old.”
I laughed.
“If you are only twenty, then don’t pretend to be elders in front of me.”
“Continue. Why are you living here? There are no records of the Double-Headed Wolf race in Beastmen history.”
The golden wolf head said, “That is because we are the only ones left.”
“Our ancestors always lived in seclusion in a hidden forest. However, our intelligence is not inferior to humans.”
“Because we have two brains, we can focus on two things simultaneously. As a result, we learn extremely quickly.”
“But for that same reason, we can never reach the highest realm of cultivation.”
I asked in surprise, “Why?”
Both wolf heads pointed at each other angrily.
“Because this idiot is always fighting me for control of the body!”
I waved my hand.
“Enough arguing. Continue your story.”
The golden wolf head glared at the silver wolf head before continuing.
“By our generation we had grown used to a peaceful life.”
“We trained quietly in the forest and lived freely.”
“But about ten years ago, something happened.”
“We had just completed a training session and were preparing to hunt when a human suddenly intruded into our territory.”
“When we found him, he was already near death.”
“We tried to save him… but his injuries were too severe. Soon afterward he died.”
At this point the golden wolf head looked embarrassed and stopped speaking.
The silver wolf head continued instead.
“Why did you stop?”
“Anyway, he was already dead.”
“We searched his belongings and buried him.”
“What is there to be embarrassed about?”
After speaking, he glared at the golden wolf head.
I smiled faintly.
“You are right.”
“We bring nothing with us when we are born, and we take nothing when we die.”
“It is better for those things to serve the living.”
The golden wolf head sighed.
“It was those very items that led us here.”
“Among his belongings was a book titled Records of Bizarre Things on the Continent.”
“Our parents taught us how to read before they left us so that we could train more effectively.”
“After reading that book, we became fascinated by the outside world.”
“We began to long for life beyond the forest.”
“So we left our ancestral home and came to the Beastmen Country.”
“At first everything was exciting. No one paid much attention to us.”
“But soon we encountered a werewolf.”
“He greeted us with great respect and called us the Wolf God.”
“Our greed got the better of us.”
“We wanted to experience the luxurious life of being worshiped as a god.”
“So we followed that werewolf back here.”
I said, “Isn’t that good?”
“You became the most respected Wolf God here.”
“Why do you sound as though you regret it?”
“Do you regret leaving the forest where you once lived?”
The golden wolf head shook his head.
“We do not regret leaving the forest.”
“What we regret… is coming here.”
“In the beginning everything was new and exciting.”
“The people here treated us with great reverence.”
“They even built this Wolf God Temple for us.”
“When we first arrived in Yuna Territory, it was extremely poor. Bandits were everywhere.”
“To repay the werewolves for their hospitality, we used our knowledge and wisdom to help them develop.”
“After several years of effort, the results were remarkable.”
“What you saw when you first arrived is the result.”
“To avoid attracting unwanted attention from outsiders, we ordered the werewolves to ensure that no information about Yuna Territory leaked out.”
I was astonished.
“If things went so well, why do you regret it?”
The silver wolf head sighed.
“Because the better their lives became, the more deeply they worshiped us.”
“After leaving the forest, we wanted to explore the world.”
“But every time we tried to leave, crowds of werewolves would kneel in front of us, crying and begging us not to abandon them.”
“They behaved as if their parents were leaving them to die.”
“Some even threatened to kill themselves.”
“We have lived here for more than ten years now.”
“We have developed deep feelings for this place.”
“We cannot bring ourselves to abandon it.”
“But this place cannot compare with the freedom we had in the forest.”
“That is why we regret it.”
Just as I expected.
They crave novelty and fear loneliness.
This will be easy.
I nodded.
“I understand.”
“Now that we know each other better, I have a question.”
The Wolf God nodded.
“You may ask.”
I asked in a deep voice,
“How do you intend to deal with me?”
“Will you kill me… or release me?”
The two wolf heads looked at each other and fell silent.
I said coldly, “I don’t have time to waste.”
“If you intend to kill us, then the werewolf tribe will pay a heavy price.”
“The Beast Emperor will not tolerate it.”
“Your entire tribe may face destruction.”
“Think carefully.”
The two heads exchanged glances again.
Finally the golden wolf head spoke.
“We have made our decision.”
“We will release you… under one condition.”
Here it comes.
“Speak.”
The golden wolf head suddenly changed his tone.
“Take us with you.”
“We are bored to death living here.”
Inside I was overjoyed.
But my expression remained calm.
“How could I possibly take you with me?”
“Wouldn’t your werewolf descendants tear me apart?”
The silver wolf head quickly shook his head.
“No, no. That won’t happen.”
“You can use the name of the Beast God.”
“When the time comes, we will cooperate and announce that the Beast God has given us a mission.”
“That should solve everything.”
I remained silent, pretending to consider carefully.
The golden wolf head hurriedly added,
“Taking us with you will bring advantages.”
I asked slowly, “What advantages?”
“If you take us with you,” the golden wolf head said eagerly, “we will help you take control of Yuna Territory without bloodshed.”
“We will also order the werewolves to join your Beast God religion.”
“Isn’t that tempting enough?”
Inside I was delighted.
This was exactly what I wanted.
Maintaining a serious expression, I said,
“Your offer is very tempting.”
“But if you want to follow me, you must agree to two conditions.”
To avoid trouble later, I needed to secure the greatest advantage possible.
“Speak,” said the Wolf God.
“First, if you follow me, you must obey my orders and not act independently.”
The silver wolf head looked stunned.
“Doesn’t that make us your servants?”
I glared at him.
“Not servants.”
“Friends.”
“Second, you must help me carry out the plan to revive the Beastmen.”
The golden wolf head nodded immediately.
“That is easy.”
“The process of rebuilding the Beastmen will surely be interesting.”
“We agree.”
The silver wolf head suddenly covered the golden wolf head’s mouth.
“Don’t agree so quickly.”
He turned toward me.
“So, Lei Xiang…”
“If we accept your conditions, what do we gain in return?”
This one is clever.
He refused to accept even the slightest disadvantage.
I smiled.
“I promise you this.”
“If you follow me, your life will be filled with extraordinary adventures.”
“Is that enough?”
The silver wolf head removed his hand and laughed.
“Deal!”
I extended both hands.
I clasped hands with both of the Wolf God’s hands—each controlled by one head—and we struck our palms together three times.
Thus, I formed an unbreakable agreement with the most important companion of my life.
The Wolf God.
